Do you remember the link Apple/HireRight sent for you to complete it? Find that email, click on the link and then log in with the password you created. Log in should be the email address. That'll let you see what is on your background. I did mine last week and it is already back.

Second, it's a menial job bringing a great deal of frustration in exchange for fairly decent benefits and reasonable (if mediocre) pay. Why is it so important to you? If you're really more qualified than the proles who got the job, then go forth and do better. Seriously. And if you have intangible reasons for wanting to get the job despite your apparent superiority, then recognize the fact that a lot others are right there with you. If they related better to their interviewers over a webcam than you did, then that's just part of life.

Kudos to TheHibernian for one of the most well-written and accurate posts in this whole thread. People that are applying for this job need to read the last paragraph of TheHibernian's post and then read it again. Getting this job is all about how you relate to your interviewers. In all honesty I should not have been hired for this job. I'm a crank, a curmudgeon and a major cynic BUT I have a knack for establishing a rapport with people and that's exactly what I did with my interviewers and it's what I do with customers. I'm not a very empathetic person at all but I can be charming without too much effort... believe it or not.

I don't doubt it at all :) I'd love to listen in because I'm 100% sure I'd pick up some awesome tips!

LOL Thanks but I doubt you'd get many ideas from my calls. I'm always getting reminded to use more empathy because it's somewhat lacking in a lot of my calls. BUT most customers like my sense of humor and the short conversations we have that are not really related to the problem. My call time can be longer than normal on occasion but the stuff gets fixed and most customers enjoyed the call.

I do employ empathy in obvious situations such as stolen/lost or broken phones but it's certainly not present in all my calls like it's supposed to be. However, both my age and the extensive traveling I've done allow me to "connect" with a lot of people that the younger reps just don't have much in common with. I do especially well with customers that are 40+ years old.

Thanks alot you guys! I called them as well and the said that they sent it to apple on the June 11th, so now im just waiting for the offer call. Man it seems like its taking forever lol

----------

Weird, when I checked the website, it says the report is in progress but when I spoke to them, they said that they sent the report to apple already. Do this mean its not completed yet or apple is still reviewing it?

Don't worry, I experienced the same issue with my report. I was annoying enough to have bombarded HireRight's staff with several messages about it. Basically, your report is considered complete on their end, but as you suspected, Apple hasn't reviewed it yet — hence your report's "in progress" status. HireRight also told me it takes time for them to get all of their accounts' pages up-to-date.

Just keep checking your e-mail regularly; Apple may message you to help clarify some information that HireRight failed to verify. The whole duration of the process was agonizing for me, but I got the long-awaited offer call only a couple of days after my report was finally updated as complete! I guess I should post an actual timeline soon...

Just got an email to set up a 30 minute interview via FT or Skype anyone know if this is a second or just a final interview based on timing?

It is probably the 2nd because final interview you are usually told it lasts 45-60 mins, but that is at least my experience.

3rd interview and Training

I have been reading this thread since applying for the at home position. Thank you to all who have contributed so far. I really appreciate you taking the time to shed some light on this hiring process.

I will be having my 3rd interview this week and was told it was for a full time CPU position. I was just curious as to how technical the questions get. Are the questions posted on page 40 and 100 of this thread (btw, thank you both for posting those) still relevant to the interview in regards to CPU?

Secondly, for those who have started the training for CPU or are currently in an advisor position, do you feel that the "Apple Pro Training Series: OSX Support Essentials" is a good reference guide? I see it is recommended on the apple site for those seeking certification. Any further insight would be greatly appreciated.

I am Still looking for a "day in the life" type post. Wondering how fast paced are the days do the hours go by quickly? how do they handle missed calls due to bathroom breaks or is there a hold button or something? what type of shift hours are you full time ppl getting? All in all do you actually like the job or are you actively seeking new employment?

I would really like to see a post like this too. I have a week until training begins and knowing more about the actual job would really help settle my nerves and curiosity!

You're never going to know what any job is really like until you're actually doing it. The problem with some of those questions is that 1. they are purely subjective and 2. shifts vary widely and some queues are busier than others. The only time I've seen it "slammed" was during the holidays. As far as "liking" the job, some people love it, others do it because it's a job and some do not like it much at all. There is a pretty high turnover if that's any indication.

As far as bathroom breaks, those aren't a problem since we're required to keep an empty coffee can next to our desks. 3 Lb. Maxwell House cans seem to work the best.

If you're iOS, you probably don't have much time between calls to do anything. I'm in CPU, so I have a good bit of time between calls. I watch movies or browse the internet.

Depends on the day and time for iOS. I keep my iPad in front of me, play games, browse the net, read a kindle etc. Like others said, there isn't really a "day in the life of..." as each day is different :)

You're right it is subjective. But that's what I'm looking for different opinions from different personalities. How do YOU personally spend time between calls?

Thinking up sarcastic posts for this thread :)

Actually I spend time poking around the knowledgebase, looking at team stats etc.

My Maxwell can is starting to rust :(

They have really cool plastic ones now.

Still patiently waiting.

Going on 10 days since the background check was completed.

*taps fingers on desk*

Has anyone who is to be in the July 15th class heard anything yet?

It took 17 days for me... so just wait it out and enjoy whatever free time you have because you won't have much when you start training.
