woohoo!

I submitted my bgc June 4th and I had given up hope that it would ever be completed! I was originally supposed to be in the July 1st class. I got a call around 7 pm eastern time tonight offering me the position with an 8/26 start date. To say I am relieved and beyond excited is an understatement! I don't even care it was pushed back so late. So if you are still waiting on your bgc keep the faith!

From what I've seen and been through... There are always 3 interviews and a background check.

----------

Hmm, well maybe I'm out then. No mention of a 3d interview during my 2nd...

The recruiter only said "hope to have a answer to you by the middle of next week and call me if you need anything between then." Did your recruiter tell you there would be a 3rd interview during the 2nd? Mine sort of alluded to it at the start of the 2nd interview because she was running behind but never brought it up again.

I told at the end of my 2nd interview that if I were to move on to look out for an email. I got it later that afternoon.

Hi Daisy, thanks for giving me that information. Let me ask you something else, when did you receive the email stating "It's time to update your online profile and complete your official employment application." Was it after your 2nd interview or before?

Because I received that email before my 2nd interview on skype, I'm wondering if because of my experience maybe they sped up the process.

It was after my third and everyone who gets through the process has to do this.

Did the email you receive after your 3rd interview start off "It's time to update your online profile and complete your official employment application. "

I got that email after my first interview and was told to complete it prior to my 2nd skype interview. That is what I'm trying figure out here, sounds like most people get that after the 2nd or 3rd interview. So might just be further a long in the process. What did you mean by "everyone who gets through the process?"

It's been basically a month long process for every applicant. You'll have 3 interviews, complete a full application, background check and then waiting. I applied on May 28th if that gives you any idea how long all this can take. I'm still waiting for my offer and some of the applicants on here won't start until Aug 26th. My start date wouldn't have been until the 15th of July. You'll receive an email soon for the choosing of your third interview I'd they want you to continue. After that, an email will come over if/when you get finished with your third interview. Then it's more waiting. This is not a fast process by no means.

So after training, does your workweek consist of 5 consecutive days or will it be like work sunday off monday, next day of work might be weds type of thing similar to retail just with the same hours every time? Thats how my last call center job was, i just always worked same shift and we had bids too but they were done based off seniority and numbers so the ones who have been with the company longer along with those who had the best resolve rate got to grab the best schedules first BUT we were also allowed shift trades if any two people liked each others schedules better than their own so is it similar to that?

Sounds similar. I think stats are the primary driver at Apple, rather than seniority, but I haven't gone through the bid process so I'm no expert. From what I understand, my particular group operates on a somewhat different system from the standard at-home advisors. I don't even think shift bids are a part of our operation. I know that they are a part of the normal AHA scheduling process.

As far as consecutive days off go, there seems to be an effort to give people two days off whenever business allows it, but some of my colleagues have split days off. Most of us have consecutive days. Some have Saturday as one of the days off and others have Sunday, but I don't know of anyone who got both Saturday and Sunday off.

There is an internal system in place for shift trades. I haven't used it. My shifts are fine for me. But the system does exist.

The reason i ask is because I am a very religious person (which I'm not trying make a convo about religion believe me) and i have only TWO hours out of TWO of days of the week that I spend for my worship, which you would think it would be unlikely my hours overlap that but you never know but after or even before I spend those two hours I am then open for the rest of the day so obviously if my schedule doesn't even fall on that day or around those hours then ill be fine but I understand what you are saying because they always will have someone to fill up a spot being that everyone wants to work for apple.
To use the Apple parlance, this subject is "out of my scope." I don't know what the hours are that you require to attend religious services, and it's really none of my business. AppleCare is open from 7am to 10pm Central. So that's a 15 hour window in any given day, plus the potential for overruns if you're on a call at 10pm. Nobody on this site, or any other site, would have even the slightest chance of guessing how your assigned schedule might interact with your religious practice. Again, these questions would be best directed at your manager. Perhaps he/she can make an effort to steer you toward a schedule that wouldn't conflict with your needs. I honestly don't know. What I know is that I got an email one day telling me what my schedule would be, and that was that.

Based on my experience, which seems to match up with what most others have reported, you probably won't hear from your manager until shortly before your start date. Your time to hash these things out before training will probably be limited. So you'll have to feel your way through that part of the deal on your own.

Sorry, trying to follow what you are saying. What do you mean by "complete a full application?" Are you referring to the email I mentioned earlier that begins with "It's time to update your online profile and complete your official employment application?" I received and completed that application after my first interview or are you referring there is still a different application? Not sure what you meant by your start date, you mean if you get hired its going to end up being an August start date instead of this month? I was told my start date would be in August and also the pay rate. Did they quote you a pay rate yet? Come to think of it, I believe August 26th does sounds right too, as the date the interviewer mentioned during the first call.

The email you got to do the employment application is the one I'm referring to. That's a good sign so far. I was quoted July 15th class but I'm still waiting on my offer. I was quoted pay rate at first interview plus instructed it was a PT position. Hope that clears some things up :)

Yep. That's what she means. There are variances in the process. That "official employment application" is the one that you'll be asked to submit after they've decided that your original pretend application was worth considering. The timeline with respect to interviews is not the same for everyone.

Not sure what you meant by your start date, you mean if you get hired its going to end up being an August start date instead of this month? Pay rates and start dates are also among the things that will produce different experiences for different people. There was a time a while back, when this thread was really really old but before it was really, really really old, when people were consistently reporting official offers for higher pay than they had been told to expect. Sadly enough, my (more recent) official offer was for exactly the pay rate that I had been told to expect.

On the other hand, numerous people have referred to shifting start dates. My start date was exactly what I was told it would be in the beginning. I haven't decided yet if this was a good thing or a bad thing.

tl;dr → Take all specific details described by others with a grain of salt. Your experience won't necessarily be the same.

Well guys, thanks for clearing that up for me.

I may not have got a 3rd interview, but at least I was given the official application to complete. For some reason, I don't think there will be a 3rd interview for me, its either I'm in or out. The recruiter stated to me twice "I hope to have a answer for you by early next week" So maybe that is a good sign... that would be good

just not the best interview ever, nothing worked right at the start. but maybe it was all over looked

Well best of luck to all!

I prefer nonconsecutive days off but they do try to give people 2 days in a row. A few people... but very few have Sat. and Sun. off.

As far as shift trades it's futile even trying unless you have an AM shift and want to work a late shift instead.

I couldn't find anything either... sorry.

I just don't understand why she wants me to study and call back. These are the questions and how I answered them:

What is an operating system?
An operating system is loaded on a computer or smartphone that translates the information into a user friendly form.

A customer can't connect to the Internet, what do you tell them?
Make sure they have wifi turned on and their password is imputed correctly, have them reset their modem and their router.

A customer is complaining about her battery on her iphone dying all the time, what do you say?
I tell the customer to try automatic brightness, only using wifi when needed, and if all else fails restore her iphone via her computer.

Does this seem like I bombed? I guess if I study I can find better answers, I just don't know where to go because the link she gave me is non existant.

Hey guys, just want let you know I finally got my offer call from apple. Pushed my training date back to august 12 but they upped the pay a little and told me that I am being considered for full time after training. For every one waiting for the BGC dont worry im sure your calls are coming. Can anyone in training already tell me if they changed your position from full time to part?

What was your original start date?

When the recruiter told me to go to the Apple support page, it was to 'brush' up on current software/products.

While your answers could have been a bit better, I don't think you bombed. Keep in mind that they are not really that concerned with you answers so much as HOW you give your answers. They are looking at personalities here, not technical prowess. This is about how you convey information to the customer and always stick to troubleshooting basics e.g. is there a wifi signal? does it require a password? Resetting a router or modem is pretty far down the list when TS'ing wifi (airprint not so much).

It really depends a lot on who interviews you. My interviewer focused more on communication skills than technical knowledge but it ultimately boils down to whether your interviewer likes you or not. Make them your friend and you'll have a job.

Well that's why I'm confused

She said she loves my personality but didn't do well on the technical questions.. I guess I didn't answer them right but the way I answered them was enough for her to give me her direct phone number.

It just stinks because I don't want to wait two weeks! If I called her in one week, it could either show perservierence(sp) or it could show I'm not focused on attention to detail (as she said TWO weeks).

Did he or she tell you to call back and do another "screening" when you're more comfortable with technical questions?

At-home mac expert ?

Does anyone know anything about the Apple at home expert? Anything about the interview or pay rate? I was thinking about also applying for this position

And Manana, I would just chill, wait two weeks after reviewing questions and familiarizing yourself with the line of apple products then give her a call. Everyone gets the recruiters direct number but they never answer them. Would be awkward to call in one week and leave a voice message, could sound annoying. I'm pretty sure what she told you to do is your best answer.

No, at the end of the interview she scheduled the 2nd interview that was over facetime & sent an email confirming the time & date.

When you guys say you had three interviews, are you counting the initial telephone contact as an interview? Where they ask you a few screening questions and talk about setting you up for another interview?

The reason I ask is because I had what I thought was my third interview yesterday morning. The interviewer told me he was going to recommend me to HR to be hired, but there may be another interview. He wasn't sure. That would be my fourth interview. Has anyone had that happen?

Sorry if this has been covered, but a search for "fourth interview" in this thread doesn't turn information relevant to my question.

That is correct, everyone counts the initial call as an interview, because that what it is. That being said, everyone's experience definitely sounds different. I wouldn't worry if I was you, sounds like your in.

All I had was the initial phone interview which went very well and then skipped to what seems to be described as the "3rd finale interview" and after was told I'd have answer by next week. I have read another person on here who was told during the initial interview they were skipping directly to the 3rd and finale interview and that person was hired. Looks like their still going through applicants and going back to the table figuring out who they want to hire. Sounds like that person is going to recommend you at that table. But maybe if things get tight you will have a 4th interview.

Did the person tell when to expect an answer?
