Thanks for the reply.

He told me to expect a phone call from HR "in the near future". From what I've seen in this thread, people get the phone call within a half hour or within 2 weeks. Recent posts from these last couple waves of hires seem to indicate that the HR company Apple is using is a little behind or overwhelmed and things seem to be running slower. I'm hoping to hear something next week.

Your pretty much golden then. Did you get a pay range yet? I see most of the higher end offers at $16 and around what I was offered. One person I saw went in at $17.50 for bilingual. When I tried to negotiate more I was just told "that is what the position pays and they get raises the better they get and the longer their there" I wonder how the raises work, maybe someone in the position can tell us.

Greetings, all. A few people have mentioned applying for part-time and being offered full-time. Aside from # of hours, what other differences are there between full-time and part-time AHA when working directly for Apple? *Is overtime handled differently? Do you work 40+ at busy times? Any differences in benefits?

I am trying to decide if it might be worth taking, if they offer it to me. *FWIW, in my initial phone call, they mentioned $16 an hour part-time. *I have a tech support background.

Overtime only applies if you work 40+ hours in one week, so generally people who work 20 hours/week won't see much of it :)

Also, I think pay rate has nothing to do with if you work full or part time. That seems pretty clear from the older posts here.

Sounds similar. I think stats are the primary driver at Apple, rather than seniority... They are. Seniority means very little.

I prefer nonconsecutive days off but they do try to give people 2 days in a row. A few people... but very few have Sat. and Sun. off.

As far as shift trades it's futile even trying unless you have an AM shift and want to work a late shift instead.

Source: been here just about 10 months now

Why do you say that? Do most people really want the 6am shift ? because that would be ideal for me, I would think most people would want between 8am to 11am start times. I'm just going to take it as it comes just like scheduling with most jobs, they rarely are ideal. But I wouldn't even care if didnt have any other day off beside Sunday if that's what they wanted. working early, working late aint a problem but I just wanted to have a little understanding of how schedules work with them and if voices are given a chance.

did you hear back hopepeacehope13??;)

Can you start training without having home phone service?

The requirement is to have a home phone line and atleast 2mp speed internet. from my understanding they ask for proof.

Have to remember you're competing for shifts with people in multiple time zones. Would I want 6am? Heck no, but that 6 could be 9 to others and they're stoked.

You should have your manager's number if you start tomorrow.... Call or text them :) They're your new buddy. Or tell them in the AM. You should be fine :)

Does the phone need to be hooked up before training starts?

Cause it would cost $50 to install and i have to sign a 3 year contract.. So i kinda wanted to wait til maybe the first or second week into training to get it hooked up.

Also hows the training? I saw posts about people getting fired during it, so im kind of nervous.

I'm going through Kelly btw.

I say that because I was put on an 8 to midnight shift and I am an early riser. I tried to swap shifts with someone (there's a website for doing so) and there were scads of people looking for earlier shifts and no one looking for a later shift. We have a couple of people on the team that prefer nights but most of us would rather work days.

You do have some say so as far as your shift but very little. I was lucky my first 6 months because my TM happened to find an open 10 - 2 slot for me but after our shift bids I got stuck on a late shift (my stats were great but I was in the last bidding group). Shift bids are a bit complicated but you'll learn more as you go. In any case we had one person on the team that went to chat support and my TM was nice enough to get me shifted into their old spot, which was days.

I'll most likely be at Tier 2 before the next shift bid rolls around so it's hard to say what time slot I'll have. I do know that I won't stay here if I have to work until 12:30 AM unless the paycheck is considerably higher.

Here is a part of email kelly sent me.....Hope it answers your question.

This mandatory orientation is delivered via an online meeting tool (which you can access from any computer browser) and teleconference (which you can access from any phone). The orientation runs approximately 3 hours, all dependent upon the current class and the amount of questions asked. We recommend you block out at least a 4 hour timeframe for this NEO to ensure you do not run into any scheduling issues in your personal schedule.
Roll call will be taken via the online meeting tool and verbally via the teleconference bridge. If you do not attend the full New Employee Orientation and validate your presence during roll call, you may not continue on with the program. Absence is considered a forfeit of the position and will affect your eligibility for future employment opportunities with Kelly Services, Inc.

Any telephone can be used for the mandatory call-in

I don't know about Kelly but I've never seen anyone get fired during training, just a couple that decided to drop out. It's pretty hard to get fired during training unless you just don't show up for a few days... And that would be quitting in my book.

We lost one due to the tests, but that's it. Had a couple quit a few months in, too

Oh yeah... forgot about that. We didn't lose anyone but it's possible. They do go out of their way to make the tests passable for everyone though. If you can't hack the exams there's no way you should be on the phones anyway.

Hi Angry Gerbil, can you tell us how raises work? Are you full time and if you make it what seems called T2 do you automatically get a raise?

Thanks

Raises are dependent on a number of things... annual reviews, being multi-trained, T1 or T2 etc. From what I hear there is a substantial raise going to T2. I'm part time.. I wouldn't have lasted this long had I been full time.

Did you get into iOS chat??

My TM kind of talked me into waiting for T2... I'd have more options available down the line should I go that route. I'm trying to get into Enterprise support and going to T2 would assist me toward that end.
