Hi everyone. I'm new here, but I've been lurking a bit throughout the process.

I had my third interview on the 22nd. Got the HireRight e-mail on the 23rd. Yesterday I logged in and viewed the final report. Looked like they had a heck of a time getting in touch with some of my employers, but finally did even though they couldn't always confirm everything (it said titles didn't match or they couldn't verify salary for some of them, which I found very strange).

About how long did it take most of you to hear back after your BGC was finished? I was initially told I'd be in a September 9th class, but then in my last interview they said August 26th. I'd prefer the September class so I can give my current job ample notice, as it is getting close now if I were to be in the August 26th class.

Thanks!

This is true! Watched the host yesterday because we were recently talking about it. What a good movie, and no not the Twilight host crap.

"The Host" as in the Korean horror flick or "The Host" as in this garbage?

Oops, never mind. I see that you weren't referring to the Stephanie Meyer junk. My bad. While the Korean flick was quite entertaining, keep in mind that the creature itself was just an allegory for American type Capitalism; more specifically, environmental pollution.

Sorry, Jon!!! That's disappointing! I don't really know about the wait time to reapply. 6 months or so?? That's just a guess. Just wanted to say sorry you didn't get it.

I was able to get dual skilled after 9 months at Apple.

I was in the iOS Tier 2 apprenticeship program at the 9 month mark but I'm still thinking about applying for chat instead of going the T2 route. I know they're expecting a huge spike in call volume in iOS, so I have a feeling that whoever is in iOS now is going to be stuck in iOS for quite a while.

----------

Yeah I picked up on that :) don't forget to watch the Korean flick "doomsday book"

Forgot about that... been downloading episodes of "Justified". Since it's my day off, it's raining and "Doomsday Book" is on Netflix... I know what I'll be doing for the next 113 minutes.

I am dual skilled, but I don't work the CPU queue anymore. We're busy enough in iOS chat. I know mentors work both queues though when not having mentees. If we weren't busy in chat, I think they'd make us work the iOS phone queue.

What did you have to do to get dual skilled?

I watch Breaking bad during my shift.

I thought about doing chat, but, after 9 months, i finally got the shift I wanted working M-F dayshift.

M-F days? I'd hang on to that sucker for as long as possible. If your next shift bid doesn't turn out so well then you could apply for chat support. The one huge caveat to going chat is the possibility of getting a graveyard shift.

The first figure I decided on was 25% but I seriously doubt a T1 to T2 raise will be that high. All I know is that there's no way I want to deal with the types of calls I've escalated to T2... they were absolute nightmares. I'm not sure 15% would be enough to convince me to be honest. Also, T2 is full time and I cringe at the thought of taking calls for 40 hours. I'm still considering going with chat support even though it's not T2... I really do hate phones.

Hey fellow inmate, I mean Advisor! Please keep us updated with what you find out. I am curious to know as well as I am in Nesting right now for T1 iOS and want to climb at some point as well, but would definitely like to know what potentially is in store as far as that first jump. And with the humblest respect, I do NOT expect to get a dollar amount response so even if you would be willing to share what percentage you are offered, please do share!

I admire your ability to maintain your personality in this kind of position, and sense of humor. Your posts have been quite refreshing :D

T1 nesting? Jumping the gun a little aren't you? It will be at least 4 months before you're considered for T2 and you have to have decent enough metrics as well as your TM's recommendation to get bumped upstairs.

As far as the T1 to T2 raise, I seriously doubt there's a standard rate that's used for everyone. It's most likely a combination of your metrics, performance reviews and geographic location among other things. And I'm not an idiot... there's no way I'd ever post a dollar amount. I may make something up just to be a troll though.

Already thinking about T2? When I was in T1 nesting, all I thought about was how I could find a normal job and get the hell out of AHA.

Alright guys I still haven't heard anything back at all. I have applied for over 25 positions and not a single e-mail or call. I am just at a loss of what makes me un-hirable. Any help? I am really wanting this position and I know that if I can just get an interview I should have no problem due to my interview skills.

I think my cover letter and resume look pretty strong. I am a manager of a fast food food chain right now so I would assume that would make me look good as well from the customer service perspective. I have applied within my area as well as outside.

You know what's odd for me is I had no hopes of getting this AHA job (technically I still haven't I star aug 12) but a friend of mine I currently work with who is more educated than me for sure told me about it. 3 people at my current establishment applied for it. We all got interviews I was the only one who got it. Both people were probably (on paper at least) more qualified than me. So I have no idea. It took 1 day for them to call me for an interview. Now I did have a college recruiter look at my resume. So possibly that helped? Doubt it though. Maybe you can get someone at a local apple store (preferably a friend) to put in a referral for you?

See i heard about this position from a friend. But I did get my Father-in-law to look over my resume and he used to be a principal so I would assume he knows what a good resume looks like. I think I am going to have to get a referral I guess.

Unless I am just bombing the questionnaire. Which I don't feel that I am on that either.

Yeah that's what I get from reading a lot of the other responses in this thread. In the last year I switched to all apple products so I am well versed in both major OS's along with iOS. I am just at a loss.

Come on man! Give us SOME hope of enjoying this job. Every so often I read into your posts and say what the hell did I get myself into. But I know it's gotta be better than the blue box I'm in now.

I'm the exception, not the rule. Most people that dislike this job quit within 3 months. The only reason I'm still here is that I will not quit a job until I have another one to walk into. And believe me, I've been sorely tempted to throw the phone out the window and send the iMac back more than once.

You want it too badly.

If you were relatively indifferent about the job, completely inexperienced with Apple products, and able to spin your customer service experience in a positive manner, you may very well have gotten a call. The reason for this is that you would have naturally emphasized the stuff that matters more to these people than your technical skills. (I know this firsthand, BTW.)

You should spend a day watching some of the internal chat rooms. New advisors on this job are clueless. Not just the kind of clueless where you're feeling out a new job, but the kind of clueless where I wonder how you managed to reply to the offer email without asking for help. The common thread though, at least for the people on my team, seems to be that there's some level of personality that likely impressed the interviewers. I'm an outlier there, since I have a lousy personality, but most people seem like genuinely nice individuals.

From that point, it's a matter of not being nervous when some goofball on a webcam starts asking you to role play. People are people. You have to figure out what makes the interviewer tick and then figure out how to relate. You probably have 5-10 minutes in which to accomplish this. After that, you're on stage. In my case, the interviewer and I shared a first name and a distaste for the idiocy of the modern college kid. Beyond that, I knew the difference between SMTP and POP. Didn't know squat about iOS or Mac, but had been helping friends troubleshoot PC issues since the 90's.

And for what it's worth, my background wasn't fast food but it was restaurant management. The stuff you hate about your current job, you'll hate even more about this one. Imagine a world where you almost never hear from the happy customers. That's our world. We manage to make quite a few of them happy after it's all said and done, but nobody ever calls to say, "My new iPhone is working great."

The job does have its positives too, like any job does, but I'm surprised by how many people really, really want it. It's nothing special, man. I promise.
