I think the iPod Touch is for iOS advisors to familiarize themselves and try stuff out in iOS.

The surprise is nothing that extravagant. It's not any kind of cool Apple hardware.

----------

The biggest surprise for me was just how awesome benefits are, discounts, and all of the free software. I feel like I've gone to Apple nerd heaven.
Oh ok...i though ipod was for everybody. as far as benefits, software and discounts I havent received any info on that. I never received my welcome email.

I did receive a conditional offer but when I called HR to check on my BG check she said they were no longer hiring for the apple project but during my interview the recruiter told me that I was moving forward with the process and that the first orientation would be 8/19 the second one would be 8/26 and training starts 9/2...Has anyone else went through this with kellyconnect and when does your training start???

My friend ran into the same problem, don't worry tho because call centers in general have a high turnover rate and it may not be long before apple and kelly starts hiring again, so keep an eye out on whats going on and after a while apply again. I am curious tho as to how far you got in the process. Was it just the phone interview and background check? Did you receive a payroll card or fill out an I-9 form with a witness? Did you send any paperwork back via postal mail?

do most T2 reps do 8-5?

The 4 people out of our group that went to T2 all work days, as will I but there do need to be T2 reps available for all shifts. Tier 2 does shift bids like everyone else. I lucked out with an 8 - 5 EST schedule but I could possibly end up on nights after our next shift bid... in which case I'd quit. I worked a late shift for 3 weeks before and I'll never do it again.

1. Filled out application on Apple website, jobs link
2. Received call; had to send questionnaire back and then was contacted again: asking to describe what empathy was, explain to a customer what to do if iPhone screen is frozen, and description of hours entailed and overtime and weekend expectations -- set up 2nd FaceTime interview through email
3. FaceTime interview was punctual to the exact minute. Interviewer asked questions: Role Play if a student drops laptop and can't get it on right before exam, describe customer service experience, asked difference between RAM and Hard drive, what to do if email will not send or receive on phone, and difference between email servers POP and IMAP.. Interviewer asked if I knew the pay, expectations regarding days and hours, and wanted undivided attention with no prior or current obligation. (THAT WAS THIS MORNING. TOLD I WOULD HEAR "EITHER WAY" TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY.) From what i have gathered, if they want you they set up the next interview immediately or send the "email" that day? Anyway, I took this as a negative approach and consider the process complete on their end. Has anyone experienced differently? After the first FaceTime interview has it taken a couple days to send an email?

My position is that if I'm going to be stuck doing phone work I'd at least like a queue that is NOT consumer level iOS. As far as Apple the company, I neither love it or hate it... it's a tech company and I just happen to work there at the moment. My 2 biggest gripes with Apple at this point are 1. prices and 2. the cult like atmosphere. The kool aid drinkers drive me nuts at times. I'm not really knocking it but rigid devotion to an ideology of any type does not sit well with me, be it political, religious or tech.

I drive you crazy? LOL

Just installed Mavericks DP5 onto my mbp today.

I was one of the lucky ones who got an invite to download Mavericks yesterday.

Love AngryGerbil

I absolutely do not want to take the types of calls I escalate. 40 hours would do me in for sure.

Still waiting to go to the career fair ... everyone is raving about it though. I'm guessing it's probably more propaganda than not... I'm such a cynic :)

I so love you AG! I've not gone either. It's not even on my schedule to go! Aug. 16, is the last day and I don't see on my schedule anywhere...
I feel as you that's is all prop!

I remember the days when I was all hyped up and looking at all the posts on here with reverence...hoping, praying to be able to say I work for Apple.
OOOH what do they say bout hindsight?

I went yesterday after backfill manager training.
It was OK.

Not as personal as I had hoped for and didn't have the booths I wanted to talk to.

At what times of the year does Apple Hire for this position?
I've seen it Re-posted since may

We are hiring over 600 people for AHA positions alone.

So, keep watching as AHA is growing like crazy.

----------

M-F days? I'd hang on to that sucker for as long as possible. If your next shift bid doesn't turn out so well then you could apply for chat support. The one huge caveat to going chat is the possibility of getting a graveyard shift.

Yeah, as long as my CSTATs keep, hopefully I can keep getting it.

Chat is honestly fluster cluck right now.
Random Schedules, iLog not working half the time; it's very disorganized.

I will keep my phone schedule where it's slow right now.

Not you specifically but kool-aid drinkers in general. I can understand wanting to be a part of a corporate culture but the cult like mindset I see in many employees has me questioning their critical thinking skills. My new Tier 2 team manager actually said I should "reevaluate" where I wanted to go with Apple when I told her that I was NOT a kool-aid drinker and never will be.

Does no one see the irony in Apple's old "Think Different" slogan?

"Tell me," [Winston] said, "how soon will they shoot me?"

"It might be a long time," said O'Brien. "You are a difficult case. But don't give up hope. Everyone is cured sooner or later. In the end we shall shoot you."

1984, clever. The first thing I thought of was an episode from the original Star Trek, "The Return of the Archons". Kirk tries to fake being a member of the society but was spotted and one of the citizens says,"You are not one of us, brother".

It also brings to mind the 1984 Apple commercial except the mindless drones are now Apple fans. I just love being a heretic :)
