HELP!! Cover Letter dilema!

Hello.

I am in the process of applying for AHA.

I have read on this forum that some people have submitted cover letters with their resume, and others have not.

For those who have submitted a cover letter, did you just add it as an additional page with your resume (PDF) and uploaded that? Or, did you type it out in the "Cover Letter" section of your Apple ID profile?

Or, did you do both: add it as an additional page to the resume PDF AND copy the cover letter text to the "Cover Letter" section in the profile?

I am sort of stuck and want to do it right the first time around. Any advice guys? Help!!

Resume keywords might get you through the computer screening. But the cover letter is your chance to display your effervescent personality to the human being who looks at the resumes that made it through the computer and decides if they are worth an interview or not.

Seen the link to all the questions, and used the search bar. Can't say I feel any better or worse! Seems like they usually let you know if you are going to moved along to the hiring manager. I don't know if I want to go through another wait period....

Yea, but I know wasn't suppose to open until monday I just didn't know if there was some crazy super recording device tracking every call from the phone built in even prior to my start date...
Take off the tin foil and connect the phone. You'll be fine. The whole 'don't open the box' thing might be the dumbest part of the whole process, and there are plenty of dumb parts.

Hello everyone! I have been lurking these forums for some time now and decided to sign up since I still see some people wondering about the hiring process.

To note, I was directly hired from Apple, not Kelly. This is my timeline:

07/22/23 - Submitted resume and application via Apple Website
07/22/13 - Contacted late afternoon via phone for the first interview
07/24/13 - Second Interview via FaceTime with Apple Recruiter
07/31/13 - Third Interview via FaceTime with Apple Recruiter
08/02/13 - HireRight Background Check email received
08/02/13 - Background check completed and submitted
08/09/13 - Received official job offer phone call late afternoon

Overall, the process of hiring through Apple went smoothly. Their questions were not demanding and so long as you remained composed, showed empathy and understood the value of great customer service, you would definitely have a wonderful shot at the job as well.

As it stands, I am slated for the 09/09/13 class. They said I will receive my official letter via email some time this week. After I accept via the email, they will setup an hour long conference call to fill out the paperwork needed and answer any last questions. The lady whom recruiting me said my box of work supplies will arrive around 09/06/13 and also said they offer a tracking number with it.

For those curious about wanting to move, Apple is very flexible. I am currently living in another state and was hired for a different one than I reside in. I had told them upfront of my plans to move and they said it was no problem at all. So long as I let them know when I am residing in the right area so they can pay taxes to the correct counties and so forth. My plan is to stay where I am now until training is over so I can move safely and securely to my new place.

Now I have a question of my own. Should I go with ATT as a phone company since I plan to move states? I figured going with a larger named company than something local would help me not have such a hassle when it comes to installation and changing over phone lines, ect.

If you know where your moving to find out the local phone company in that area is and use the same company in both places if possible, otherwise get a phone line and internet without a contract where your living so there is no termination fees.

To be or not to be. That is the question.

Everyone situation is going to be different, there are no guarantees that if you do step a, b, c, ... that you're going to catch a recruiter's eye.

The best advice I ever got on getting a job is from my old sociology professor.
Tailor everything to what their looking for but make it so you stand out.

So, for those of you working directly for Apple, are they pushy as hell about getting you to use Remote Advisor/Bomgar? I'm really over it already. If I need it, I'll use it but I'm not going to start a screen sharing session for someone with an Apple ID issue. Grr. I don't know why, but all the focus on it at Kelly right now is making me nuts.

It's a focus at Apple too. A pretty safe bet would be to assume that anything they're pushing on the contractors is also being pushed on the internal peons. As long as we get one per week we're good though. I'm not sure what Kelly is telling you.

They are. Bomgar became the trope of the month in place of "empathy". It got so bad I had to tell the TM, "enough already". I'm in iOS for Pete's sake, the bulk of my calls don't even involve a pc/mac. If bomgar benefits the call, I use it. If it doesn't, I don't... simple as that.

I'm to the point where I pretty much ignore all the talking points, team building e-mails, manager pep talks and the rest of the corporate gobbledygook. What are they going do? Fire me? Wouldn't care if they did but that aint gonna happen.

I have not been told if it was iOS or CPU. Then again, I also forgot to ask when I got the offer call. They said we will schedule the conference some time this week when I get the official letter in my email.

I was mildly surprised they did not ask me to go to one of their stores like I had been reading, but then again, it might be something new or just the fact I am out of state. IDK.

Did you have to print out any of the paperwork or is it all online?

That's strange because during the 3rd interview they go over the position and tell you if its iOS or CPU... maybe you were so nervous you didn't listen to what she said. LOL

One should remember that there's more than one person who does interviews.

During my third interview they told me my position would start August 12 and it was for cpu. When I got my offer call my start day was pushed back to September 9th. I did not ask because I was both excited and trying to mask the purpose of the call as I was at work.
