Follow up

I never got the Apple wants to know more about you email. Just an email to interview. I think it went okay. It's been almost a week and hate the waiting. Has anyone sent a follow up email to the Interviewer? Wondering if this is a good idea or not. I don't want to annoy anyone lol.

Yes, I did send a follow up. It was a cross between a thank you email and a "Just to be clear". I simply thanked my HM for making my interview a pleasant experience. I stated that I was keeping an eye out for any email from Apple and I added I understood this process could take awhile. In closing I said I would continue to be on the lookout and gave all of my contact info.
And I did get the job.

Just a word

Patience...Patience...Patience.

For anyone who hasn't picked up on the echoing similarities on this forum, be prepared to wait, and wait. This process is not fun. It's stressful. But, if this is the job that you want, all will be worth the wait. I had all but given up between the third interview and the offer letter. But I am happy to say, I made it. Hang in there. Have patience. All the answers are here. Spend some time and find them.

I received my highly interested email a week from today and haven't heard back yet. This wait is driving me nuts! I know it can take time and so I've decided to try to not think about it every waking second. The whole process took 5 weeks from apply to hire for my cousin. After reading everyone's posts on this thread I know I have to wait....

It's stressful because you're letting it stress you. Hope for the best, plan for the worst and you keep moving. Expectations are premeditated disappointments.

Bathroom breaks?

This question is a bit odd, but I figured I should ask before I even apply -

I have to take short (3 minutes or so?) yet frequent (every 1 hour-1.5 hours) bathroom breaks due to a medical condition.

From what I've seen in the thread, stats are very important. I would get a 15 minute break twice in 8 hours, and a lunch - but I have a feeling that I would probably be needing 1-3 extra short little breaks in there.

From your experience, would this be a problem in this job that should make me not even think about applying? It sounds like I may be tied down to the headset, and any aux (?) time would negatively affect my stats.

Thank you for any ideas/input.

3 minutes you could probably get away with by just staying in ACW after a call and then making it up on your other calls. Also, the only time I've seen calls come in back to back are during the holidays. Normally you'll get anywhere from 5 to 10 minutes in between calls in T1 and you'll be able to take short breaks if the bathroom is close by. I have a medical condition called "drinking tons of coffee" and I keep gizmos like these handy just in case we get swamped (no pun intended).

Got the call from the recruiter today.... one or two tech questions, they told me it was for a full time position, then went into I am a customer my iPhone is frozen can you help me fix it? A couple of more questions like that one... it lasted about 12 minutes where at the end they said I was a great fit and they are recommending me to more forward. They then said to be on the lookout for an email confirming 2nd interview date and time and an email to fill out the official application, both of the emails came through before we hung up.... :D

Great news! I wish mine had gone so smooth. Is it for the chat position? Did they give you a start date?

I have my second interview scheduled for Tuesday the 17th, but they did tell me I would start training on 11/8 if that helps. I have a friend who is going through training right now and I spoke with her tonight and replayed the interview for her and she was taken back because of the semi-role playing that was done... I have to admit it took me by surprise as well especially after reading this thread... I just rolled with it and used my soft skills the whole time... like with the frozen iPhone my response was 'Oh I have had that happen to me please press the lock button on the top right of your iPhone and the home button at the same time until the apple logo appears and this should fix the issue right up for you.... and did the same with the other role play questions as well....

I am sure you did just fine, don't stress over it.... ;)

Welp, mentally I've already quit. It really just isn't for me. I really just need to find anything else to replace the income and then I'm done.

I'm pretty much there myself. Every conversation about enthusiasm and empathy pushes me a few inches closer to the exit.

Haven't had a DSAT in months, stats are excellent, even hit the APP goal last month. I just don't find anything redeeming about the job. The customers thanking me profusely used to be at least something of a positive, but at this point I've essentially tuned that part out and become a clock watcher. "Oh I made you happy? Yippee. Still two hours of this crap to go..."

For now I'll just have to continue to go through the motions. If product releases and the holiday season are as bad as people say though, we've probably entered the final countdown.

I feel you on this believe me I do.... Once I moved into the clerical part of my work history I swore I would never do CALL CENTER work again, but I am at the end of my rope... I have not worked since June and unemployment does not cover ALL of my bills, I am having to pay my landlord so much money per week just to TRY to keep the roof over my family's head.... I have had to surrender my car so I have no transportation to work outside the home at this point.... It is better to have a job you hate with money coming in than living on the streets and losing your kids and beloved pets because of pride....

I am excited about the position for these reasons.... Pride is not something I can afford ATM.... It is easier to find and obtain a job once you already have a job than to be out of work looking....

It is like the old saying goes... "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade"! ;)

You should have known going in that ultimately, the job would not challenge you, that it would make no meaningful contribution to society and that the only difference it would make in your life was the addition of a paycheck.

Regardless of great metrics, team building or employee enrichment you're nothing but a really tiny cog in the massive Apple production/marketing machine. A lot of people are OK with that... with some it can be kind of a blight on their psyche.

Enjoy your day everyone!

I knew it going in and my psyche is fine. I was just noting that I too have already checked out mentally and the only thing left is to find a replacement for the paycheck.

I can continue to sleepwalk my way through iTunes syncs and password resets for a while, but the ultimate conclusion is that this is temporary.

I've run into a lot of advisors that just love the no-brainer calls. They could do password resets all day every day and be quite happy. I need a bit more of a challenge and by challenge I don't mean calming down an irate customer. Or a call that takes 60 minutes of walking Floyd from Alabama through an iTunes install that's almost like trying to explain calculus to a gerbil.

This job provides a paycheck but that's about it and no matter how you slice it or dice it, it's always just going to be a call center job.

Tahlequah, OK
For everyone waiting just read this forum and try not to let it stress you out. I think I have one of the more interesting timelines I've seen on here so far. I had my first interview a little over a week ago and my next one isn't till mid-September? Recruiter just told me to hang tight till we get it set up. I am being considered for the November class so I am assuming that's the 11/8 start date from the recent posts. The wait hasn't been the greatest thing but I just look at it as more time to prepare.
