Question for those working for Apple through Kelly Services...

According to information I have, Advisors working from home have to wear business casual dress. In other words, no T-shirts, sweatshirts, jeans. Only khakis, polo shirts, shirts with buttons, etc., are allowed.

Is this true? If so, it kind of defeats the purpose of working from home.

Thats kind of funny because this is straight from kellys ad on careerbuilder.

"If you would describe yourself as a technically savvy person with the ability to exceed customer expectations, all while in your favorite pajamas and slippers, then this work from home job could be the opportunity you have been looking for."

It let me submit it without it and I wasn't told I had to put them on there :/

In the email it just said to schedule the interview and do the app

The fields were available to add references as well as a cover letter again but they did not have a red asterisk next to them so they were not required. I didn't submit a cover letter or any references.

For what it's worth, I told HireRight they could not contact my current employer so I had to send them extra documentation to prove my employment dates. I sent that documentation within hours after they requested it and it didn't appear to slow things down any.

I stand corrected :)

And just how exactly are they going to know? I went all the way through their hiring process and don't recall anything about a dress code. I've been wearing sandals, t-shirts and shorts to work for 12 years and that's not going to change... especially if I'm working in my home office. If they want me to turn on my web cam it's $20.00 for a 10 minute show.

LOL...you run an expensive webcam!

Anyway... from what I was sent via an email entitled, Kelly Dress Code Policy, it says business casual. However, after reading it again, it says..Persons Affected: All employees working at Kelly’s Corporate and U.S. branch operations. Since we work at home, I guess that doesn't apply to us. :D

Did you see your background check info?

I did, after I got the letter from apple, I called hireright and they emailed
me a copy of the report, it looked good. I had been excited the last two days, becuase all my interviews went well and there was nothing bad from hireright.

I'm freaked out over the unpaid speeding ticket I just found out about. Lol

It was my friends and yes I saw it. He wanted me to double check it because he was shocked. It took almost 2 weeks for him to get a decline and he applied for the At-Home Service expert position which is helping people change their online orders after they placed them. It sounded like a really easy job and it payed more than the advisor position.

Yeah I didn't either. But I do remember reading on some posts way back that Kelly sent an iPod touch that was for use during training and then it went back. And i noticed the packaging said the same; that it was going back within 3 days after training. I'm just wondering if that's for more practice or something. But yes I got the two packages too. I got a separate tracking for something else to come tomorrow but I don't know what that's about.
But I see I wasn't the only one to open the package ahead of time. Lol I had to be nosey.

I got my offer call today! I would guess you should be getting one soon, too. :)

They send us an iPod touch?

Yeah but it's temporary. They send everything to send it back once were done.

Yeah was weird to me. Unless it pertains to that packing slip/mailing label that you put on when you mail the iPod touch back.

Yep. On that note I just checked my info and it is indeed a return label for when we return the iPod touch.
But yes for today's package I got an automated call with all the info for it and the tracking number. The second email I got today from my tl gave me both tracking numbers.

Nah but I applied through Kelly initially and didn't hear back anything until two days ago. At that point I already had the job and start Monday. Shame

Lucky you! I have the job through Kelly but would like to go direct through Apple. So I am just wondering if it has been or if it can be done.

A number of people have applied to Apple in multiple cities, I don't know how effective that strategy is but it might be worth a shot. I'd really give Apple some time if I were you, I don't think you want to work with Kelly on this one. Not only are they cheap but have proven to be pretty inept as well. I started the whole process with Kelly but found out Apple was hiring directly and ultimately got hired by Apple. Kelly told me I had the job but I haven't heard from them in over a month. I was hoping they'd call just so I could tell them to stick it.

I applied for every at home position I could find on the Apple website, including the chat one for iTunes (because I really wouldn't have minded doing that either since I've done both email and chat support at my current job) and I actually had another recruiter email me after the first recruiter. I had to tell him I had already been snatched up by another recruiter. I'm sure he wasn't too happy about that haha. I wonder if they get paid on commission. That would be rough.

I'm working on a customer's laptop now but as soon as I finish I'll at least pull the iMac out and check the specs. Came in 2 boxes, one of them pretty big. I'm assuming it contains a 21.5" monitor... which I won't use since I have 2 - 27.5" Samsung monitors on my desk anyway.

Too bad the iMac's only have one port to connect a second monitor or I'd say have a three screen party up in your office! haha We talk about this at my office all the time. Support Turbo Tax with all the stuff we have to have open would be sooo much easier if we had three monitors instead of 2...although 2 is pretty sweet :).

Just finished speaking with my team manager and I should have my equipment today :)

Im pretty geeked now. Ive read some people on here saying "ohh its just another IT job" but damn it this is Apple. This is going to look great on any resume. Maybe since ive been waiting to get into the real IT industry for a while. Ive had other jobs that were a little IT based but nothing much to brag about. Even though this is part time, im trying to make a lot out of this opportunity

Congratulations! I think you're feeling the same thing most of the rest of us our feeling (short of the few sour pusses). Hopefully we'll see you in iChat, good luck with training! And good luck to everyone with offer calls rolling through over the next few days! I know we kind of have a couple of different waves including people just about to start training, people waiting for more interviews, and people waiting for hire calls. It's got me geeked all over again for everybody haha.

Employers can only answer dates of employment, usually that and maybe if they would re-hire you.

As I understand the law, employers can reveal anything that is truly factual, however, many only go with basics i.e. dates and position to avoid any hassles or potential lawsuit. My last employer told me they ONLY give dates and position. When you think about the question of "Would they hire you back" the answer "No" could be for many reasons other than you were a bad employee, or got fired etc. The only way they could get a certain answer would be for the ex employer to go into an explaination, and they will most likely not engage in that.

I must be old, I had to look up "geeked" in the urban dictionary. I'll stick to the King's English, pop culture colloquialisms like "stoked", "awesome" and "geeked" literally make me cringe.

Anyone from PA?

I'm just really curious if anyone on here is from PA. It seems to me that the job has been posted at least 3 times and I'm wondering if there has been any contact from Apple.

Thanks everyone.

Congrats to those who were hired and good luck to all still going through the process.:)

Question: I'm currently using Verizon for my existing land line. It's a digital signal as opposed to the old analog style - not through the computer - through the wall phone jack. Planning to install the second line for Apple work - for those who have done this, am I on the right track?
