The 9/24 people will get paid on the 12th. It's in our welcome email.

Got my equipment. Top of the line iMac I must say. Too bad we can't use it outside of work lol. Obviously I did not wait until Monday to unbox everything.

What type of phone system do they give us? Brand / model
Thanks

very welcoming weren't they?

I must say, the manager actually said she would send a blast email to all of the management team to let them know to be expecting me on Monday morning. I told her I will be there when the doors open so I can get out of their hair....hee-hee (so devilish, but had to take a plug at her). One thing I learned from my mother, you can be nasty in a very nice way :p. I didn't learn too much more that I put to practice in adulthood though (just kidding, we all have the greatest moms, right?). :D

I pretty much assumed the empathy/customer service side, and I thought there was no accidental damage protection at all (I think I was confusing Apple Care with the warranty there somewhere).

All of my experience is for Windows support and zero familiarity with Apple protection terms, replacement terms, iCloud, etc. YIKES.

More for me to study. :)

Thanks again.

Fret not, I have zero time with Apple products, except for an iPod, and checking out an iPhone once or twice. I am a Windows guy, with a lot of hardware and software experience, and some CompTIA certs, A+, Network+. I am confident and excited to learn the Apple world, and that's what they look for, and of course being empathetic, and able to walk people through various issues without making them feel stupid. Good luck to you.

Playing it Close...

Thanks to good ole HireRight's prolonged delay with completing my background check, I am really pressed to complete the hiring process by October 1st:

On today, the New Hire Paperwork session; Monday, I-9 form execution with Apple Retail manager because they won't accommodate my request before then;

Then I have to wait for the shipping label so I can get it back to Apple HR by Wednesday, Sept. 26 (too bad it's not provided before the I-9 verification process because a Kinko's/FedEx store is right across the street from the mall where Apple Retail is located. Did I mention the Apple store is about 40 miles away and there's no FedEx facility or dealer in my area, just self-service boxes which is the method I will be using, I guess, for I "ain't gonna" make another lengthy drive for this ordeal. Do you know how much gas costs nowadays?!!! LOL).

I'm sure I could use an alternative I-9 execution process (i.e., local bank) but I prefer to use Apple's preferred method.

Guess Apple will overnight the shipment of equipment to me to ensure I receive it by Friday, Sept. 28. This is scary..... one wrong step and I am doomed!!!!

Thought I would share this experience for those who may be faced with the delay of a background check.

I have seen what people have been offered. I guess my post is kind of confusing. Sorry. What I meant to ask was, when you receive the first email from A.C. (before the 1st interview), they have a question about what your previous salary was, and what your "target hourly rate" would be. Of course, I don't need to know what anyone's previous salary was, but I was wondering what others put for an answer to the "target hourly rate" portion of the question. I have been self employed for the past 10 years, so I am out of the loop and rusty on interviewing skills. I actually sat for awhile on the fence about how to answer this question. If I say my target hourly pay rate is (insert low #) then I just lowered my pay rate. If I state I am worth $15 or $16, for example, I may exclude myself due to the rate they are willing to offer being lower than the amount I requested. KWIM?
*All input is appreciated since I am asking for help - sincerely.

People are being offered more than the $14.50 in the intro email. The standard hourly rate for this position has increased and that email doesn't reflect it. The highest offer appears to be a little more than $16. For the target rate I would put $14.50 if that's what's in the email. I put that and received much higher.

It really doesn't matter. You could put 300 bucks an hour or 30 cents an hour but you're still going to get 15-16 an hour regardless. I always put minimum wage as desired salary to show that money is not my priority. That is just me of course. Don't over think it though :)

We start at $14.50/hr. for this role, is that acceptable?

I wasn't planning participating in the forum but your comment had me want to respond. Your situation is not the same but is similar to the struggle that I had to get my I-9 verified. I'm in the Oct 1st class as well. The closest Apple store is over 60 miles away so I tried to get a notary to sign. Each one I asked refused to do it.....stating that they didn't verify identity. I asked several private notaries and public places such as Bank of America, Credit Unions, UPS etc. around where I live refused to do it. I finally gave up and drove to the Apple store.

Anyone currently going through the process make sure it is filled out properly because HR will kick it back! A long story short, I didn't make it to Apple store until late evening and HR had just closed. The Apple store scanned and emailed my I-9 but there were a couple of mistakes so it wasn't approved. I live over 60 miles away so I went through hell to get it rectified. It got approved and they emailed me the the FEDEX label so the paperwork has been overnighted to HR but boy I wanted to pull my hair out!

The label that is emailed to you is an overnight label. They will email it to you within 5 minutes of giving you the OK. I would go to the closest Fedex location to the Apple store that you're going to on Monday. The paperwork has to be there on the 26th.

...

That's unfortunate. I had mine done by a notary. I informed her that I did not want it notarized. It simply needed to be completed and signed by a notary. She was simply recording the documents I presented. Nothing more. I explained it was for work-at-home position and there is no local office. As long as they aren't stamping anything they don't seem to have any reservations about it. Oh, and I also called Apple HR while I was there and had her speak to them. They walked her through the process, which was good because she completed the form incorrectly. Apple emailed her another I-9, which she printed.

I agree....I said the same thing that I didn't want it notorized but I kept getting I can't sign unless I notorize it. I'm thinking WTH....these people are so anal! I can't wait to move.

I called the local Apple Retail Store about completing the I-9 document tomorrow. The store manager said the i5 will be featured in their store tomorrow so don't even think about coming in to bother them with new hire paperwork stuff. Suggested I wait until Monday. LOL...but  Who wants to deal with a crowd anyway when I am going to be working from the comfty of my cubbyhole? Talking about a withdrawal from society..... Oh, yeah!!!

my local store had me to come in on last Sunday to get my i9 completely because there were 2 managers there and it was a slow day, even though the store was jammed pack when i went in.

I did the same thing. I went to a local credit union and the notary there was so nice. I just called Apple from the get go because she wasn't sure how to fill it out, they walked her through the I-9, told her she didn't have to stamp it just put her information on it and she even let me sit there and take the pictures of it with my phone to email in. Then I was sitting there waiting for Apple to verify it and she was going to let me just hang out until they verified it to make sure it was right, but I didn't want to take up her time. Sure enough I got out to my car in the parking lot and the HR person came back on the line and said everything was right. Maybe I just got really lucky.

You're so funny! You are also getting closer to Apple's 30-minute setup rule! I'm gonna break you down. [joking]

Okay, just finished the New Hire Paperwork conference. Apple expects you will be able to setup your equipment in 15 mins or less (sk2bbb, guess, you're right after all, daggone it! :)).

Mayberry, USA. Barney lives across the field, Gomer about 10 miles down the road and Andy lives on the other side of the woods. :D. Seriously, I have snakes, raccoons, possums, foxes, rabbits, and some have seen bears running around. I ask myself: "What was I thinking?" :)

FedEx showed up today at my old address. I just happened to be there grabbing more things and cleaning up. My new hire paperwork has my new address. They must have continued using the info from the Apple application. Wow, this could have turned out badly.

If I had tracking info I would have seen it was scheduled for delivery to my previous city of residence. My team manager informed me she probably wouldn't receive tracking numbers until after delivery. That's probably the one flaw in this entire process.

Get your official application email yet?

Not yet. But, my email did state it would take 24-48 hrs after scheduling my interview.

My official start date if hired isn't until 10/29, so they still have plenty of time.
----------

I received an automated phone call from the shipping company with my tracking info yesterday. Pretty boxes of goodies arrived this afternoon and yes I did crack the top and stroke the keyboard. :D But that's all I swear! ;)

LOVE the forum name, lol. You must've been reading the thread.

Thanks, yep I have been reading the thread and taking notes.
I haven't received any application yet, but I just setup the interview online yesterday morning.
