Question for anyone who knows...............
I already have a land-line which is used strictly for fax. It has been in this house for 45 years with the same number. Does Apple have a way to filter other calls from coming through that aren't related to the job?

I think you would answer calls from a queue. If you have all features removed from that line, and then unplug all phones in your house while you're working, it would probably work.... I could be wrong but I'm sure someone will give more insight on how it works...

This typical setup works with at home workers is using a software application that allows a virtual operating environment. You log into several programs and it then dials your number and you answer and put your headset on. You are now live and able to take calls which are routed through your computer and your phone. You work with the programs on the computer and listen and talk with your headset. They say a dedicated line because they don't want things like call waiting interfering with the call.
Apple's AHA setup might be a bit different, but like I said, that is typically how it works. During your shift your line will be "busy" to anyone that calls. When you are not working, that is your line to use how you wish. The filtering you were asking about occurs only while logged in. Again, Apple might be different, but I doubt it.

Using a Mac for 40 hours a week, plus a month of training on an iPod and Mac should be enough. Here is a crazy idea... maybe go buy a Mac or iOs device if you need more exposure?

Well, I've got my official application filled out and sent in. My third interview is October 1st, and I'm going for the November 5th training class.

I have to schedule now with my phone company for the second line, though. My phone company has roughly a month lead-time to get another line installed.

I also have my third interview on the first. Hopefully we will be in she same training!

Is the training "live" with the headset, as in you have to respond verbally? I am a college student and I have to attend classes during the day. I can still do the training if you simply have to type back to the instructor, but if you have to actually respond...can't do it.

Mostly the interaction is chat, but you may be called on to verbally respond. Or if there is role play, you're expected to do so verbally. Also you will be in small break out groups and will be expected to interact verbally in those sessions. It you are confined to texting in a chat box, it won't work.

Thanks for that. What about this...what time does the training start? And are those times rigid...do they have evening or night training? Thanks

Training usually occurs during normal business hours. Starts in the morning and goes until end of day. Nothing during evening/night.

Both of the people I talked to so far had me reiterate that I was attending classes online so I would be available for the training. Look at it like a full time day job. The college jobs they have may differ but this seems pretty straigh forward as far as an at home advisor goes.

When hired, do you get to set your own hours? Would I be able to go to school and still work in the evening...or early AM?

I'm not hired yet! :( so I can't answer your question but I really think its more geared for daytime hours but you never know. I know the training is a day schedule.

I was told that if you are taking classes they will not hire you. I thought it was strange but one of the first questions asked of me was if I was inschool or taking any classes

this was copied from the first initial email they send you with the 15 questionnaire .. note this is for both part time and full time positions

11. Please confirm that you're willing to accept part-time work, minimum of 20hrs per week during the hours of operation, 5.00am to 11.30pm Central Standard Time. This position is not intended for students attending any on-campus classes, we need flexibility/availability as outlined. Your work schedule will be determined towards the end of training and will be set for 90 days at a time.

if you're a student i advise that you apply through the university that they might have available to apply

you won't know your schedule until after the 90 day training period. and every 90 days after that it may change. for 3 months you can be working during morning then the next 3 months at night ; or half the week mid-day and the other half night.. you'll never know

i think a lot of people are applying with the mindset "hey it's working from home so i can do this and that and work at the same time" or "i can take care of my kids while i work".. which is not true. you have to treat this like a regular 40hr a week position with no distractions, just like you were at a regular office

So you are simply assigned hours? You can't tell them your availability and they make the schedule that way? They don't recruit through my university...it is limited to only a handful of colleges.

>>90 day training period

I thought it was just a month?

no i think you're confusing the full time and part time positions with the positions they offer college students ..

Okay so I had my final interview on Thursday and I thought I was answering everything pretty well... Then it got to the end and he was kinda short with me and just told me I would hear something SOMETIME before the date training starts from my recruiter. I immediately felt like he had said "Look for your rejection letter!" But then less than 2 hours later, I received my HireRight email. So my fingers are WAY crossed.

On another note, my fiance applied a few days ago, received his questionnaire, first phone interview, second interview, official application, and scheduled his final interview all within 2 days. Definitely different than the process I went through!!!

So you have no control over the hours they assign you? That sounds kind of unbelievable considering part time jobs usually have to work around schedules (hence the term part-time work). Do you at least get to choose a time of day to work... And are there night shifts?
