I've been meaning to return here to scan new messages...

Have gotten in to the MyPage account and poked around, looked at some of the tutorials and videos.

Am waiting for the 'early Christmas'. :) Am working with my roommates to get the vanilla phone line set up.

When doing the I9, I went to the local Apple store and had them process it. I noticed a tall dude in a loose mood carrying a white Apple packet like mine, and struck up a conversation (HEY, E!) I hope his I9 was done better than mine, because mine did not past muster with Apple, so I had to go to my Credit Union and have it done again w/ notary. The redone paperwork was accepted.

I guess my lurking fear is what scraps I've heard about quotas of selling - or at least trying. I'm old enough to know me, and I know I am not a salesman, no way, no how.

Oh well, it's just great to know work (and the rewards thereof) is just 8 days away. I've been musing on ways to spend the money I haven't yet made.

Best to all!

The apple store I went to was very helpful, took me in the back office and knew exactly what to do, the manager was really fast and emailed everything to HR. She had me call HR while I was there and gave me a fedex envelope to put everything in. Everyone one there was very nice and friendly.

Their quota is very small something like 2% from what I heard, shouldn't be a big deal. The job isn't about being a salesman, its about educating the customer and selling the value of apple.

This. They will stress empathy over and over again. The really successful reps are the ones that 1. walk, talk and breathe Apple 2. have a pleasant and cheerful phone presence and 3. have above average soft skills*. I have no idea why they hired me because I am none of the above. I would not have hired me but I wasn't the one interviewing me. I'll do the best I can until I can jump back into network admin stuff but I'm a tech guy, not a customer service type.

* soft skills include being convincingly empathetic

AG, they hired you for a reason LOL. The interviewer had to see something in you and obviously you didn't rub them the wrong way. You may not be an Apple fan but at least you've got your foot in the door. You like many of us will do our time and hopefully move into department that we really want to be in. Well that's my goal at least. I hope you are able to move up to tier 2 or tier 3 support or even network admin. :)

My problem is that there is no Apple Store within 2 hours of me.
I live in East Tennessee (Tri Cities) and closest store is in Knoxville which is 2 hours away.

That's because almost all of the AHA stuff is managed from the Austin, TX Apple campus.

Wondering if I should move from Dallas to Austin. Naaaaa, Austin is a bit too "artsy" for me.

With you 110%, but I'll fake it and hopefully move into a higher tier, or even better, a network admin position.

I got my foot in the door in tech 25 years ago, this is a demotion for me but because of my current circumstances it's one of the few bona fide jobs I can do from home. As an AHA, your upward mobility with Apple is somewhat limited. There is tier 2 as well as mentor/trainer but to go beyond that you'd almost have to be close to one of their campuses. Most of the team managers that I've met come from a customer service related jobs, not tech. As far as a network admin job there are very few Apple based networks that I'm aware of , even still, its a long jump going from supporting iPhones to managing servers.

I think u may have taken my response the wrong way. What I meant by "foot in the door " I was speaking specifically about Apple as a company and not a specific position.:) Even though I have a technical background, I'm hoping to move into human resources or graphic design. I'll be moving next year so I'll be close to one of their campuses. I'm just going to see how all this pans out.....just the optimism in me LOL. If I end up at corporate so be it. You have a good day AG! ;)

LOL! Artsy....I don't get that vibe from Austin. :)

Final interview went well. I was surprised to learn I was interviewing for CPU support and not AppleCare as I was led to believe. Now fingers crossed for the BC email! How long does that usually take?

CPU support is AppleCare. I guess you mean you're surprised to learn you're not supporting iOS devices (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch).

There you go. I would have just assumed AppleCare covered the entire line.

Spoke to hireright, who's had my background request since 9/18. They said its to be completed by 10/4 but still hasn't got a response from Meigs County where I had a speeding ticket. So to them and Apple it shows a court record that they can't verify. As of today that county has yet to respond to multiple request. I have a feeling it will come back incomplete because some government worker is incompetent. I called the clerk or courts and was placed on hold for 20 minutes because nobody knew what to do or how to answer my question. Any suggestions?

I would just contact apple HR and/or your recruiter so you can let them know what to expect and the issues and a reason why. So they have a heads up!

My interview is in a half-hour. nervous~

I was nervous also. The guy I got was really cool and said I would hear something by the end of the week and he will forward my information to my recruiter. Just hope the thing I hear is a BC!

The interviews are the easy part the wait for background results are hard

I'm starting to get discouraged. My background check was completed on the 14th of September and sent to Apple. I have sent emails to 2 separate people and have heard nothing. I haven't gotten the dreaded email yet so I'm not quite sure what to think.

I'm just really curious if anyone on here is from PA. It seems to me that the job has been posted at least 3 times and I'm wondering if there has been any contact from Apple.

Thanks everyone.

Congrats to those who were hired and good luck to all still going through the process.:)

Am brand new here and actually starting from the beginning. Am also from PA and applied for the Allentown position. Anyone knows (estimated) how long it would take to hear something back from Apple if they are interested in you?

Interview is over! I'm very much relieved. My interviewer said that I should know one way or the other by mid-week, Friday at the latest.

He also confirmed for me that the extra phone line needs to be operational by the first day of training, and that my position is CPU support - no iOS, Apple TV, Airport Express, etc.
