I am (finally!) making a virtulized cluster out of another PC and the current server. This had been a long time coming, and it will makes things much stabler before rack migration. Just having a few bumps in the road, hopefully it should be back to normal by tomorrow. Tomorrow is yet another snow day for me, so I will devote a fair chunk to getting back 100%.

oooooo cluster dats some awesum stuff dere yo

But it won't really help if you still only allocate 1GB RAM.

It has more than 1Gb of RAM allocated, that helped (thanks Surrat) but the CPU is also maxing out.

Ok I see well good then this would help a lot.
What are the specs of the second machine you are clustering with?
How long would this take?
What time zone are you in?

2 GHz Core2Duo, 3GB of RAM.

I have it temporarily up on one node right now.

Almost done guys, finally the nodes are setting up, the damn thing was being a mega turd.
Now, I'm copying the world files and whatnot to the node management. This is really exciting!

AND! We are up and running :D, both nodes online. So far, I haven't been able to trip it into using the second node much, but lets see if we can get both working. Also, if one of the nodes goes down, the other one will automatically kick in. Lastly, chunk loading is much more reasonable!

Server does seem to be loading chunks faster, but keeps kicking me off every few minutes. Not sure if its net congestion, my connection, or the server.

Odd, shouldn't be the server, bulb freak was on for a solid 20 minutes. Might be your connection, as you've had this problem in the past and you are the only one reporting it. Tomorrow, I'll bring down the main node (the C2D) and replace it with a G5 since my room is too cold and the extra CPU power helps the server. The Pentium doesn't have multitthreading capabilities, but the G5/C2D does, so Java/Spigot benefited from the hardware, despite the Pentium has 1GB extra of RAM and a full 2.4 GHz (.4 better than the C2D). All in all, since I don't pay the electric bill, I can do this easily. The biggest magic trick will be getting Docker/go running on a G5, luckily people still use Power8's (according to an article, the same G5 in the iMac G5) for database thanks to its tremendous speed.

YAY now the server will be a REAL PowerPC server!!! ^.^

So G5s emit a lot of heat? :D I would like that

Oh also keaton the original post needs some maintenance; you need to put in correct instructions on how to play on the server with Amadaeus' launcher and also add a link to the dynmap/stats page. All the important info is scattered around this thread!

Probably easier to make a new thread about the MC server with up to date info and links, just let this old one drop off with a message at the end linking the new thread.

Nah why?
It's fine like this.

Separate threads will make a mess.

I agree with poiihy on this. I'll edit the first page when the G5 is up and officially running along with screenshots of the new world.

I too agree that poiihy is right, instead of having people look through the thread on how to play, they can find it all in the first post.

Updated main post with more information about the server and I removed the old album.

Nice, just add back Surrat's launcher into the description. Also, why are you tossing the main world? I can gladly help to move stuff if people request it.

Oops, I see the link to it now... Never mind

G5 is down and out for the server. Linux is being a PITA and the software I'd like to use wont ever support PPC. Too bad. Back to using the single pentium. Next week, I'm getting my hands on a another LGA775 CPU which will replace the pentium. Multi-threadingt here we come!

D: :( waah no g5 :(

Sorry to hear that man, thanks for trying to hook up the G5, would have been cool to have the PPC Forum server actually be a PPC. :)
