UPS CC pickup was pretty bad this year as well. Requested a hold, drove to the CC at 8am opening. They said they didn't have the phone. Called UPS support 3 times and got a different response each time. The first rep said the pickup request didn't go through and that it would be delivered today. I knew she was wrong so I called in again. The second rep told me it would be delivered if I cancelled the pickup request (which you couldn't do in the app and would likely delay delivery to Monday). And the third said it would be ready for pickup at 3pm. I drove home, refreshed the tracking, and it said it was ready for pickup at 8:31am. Drove all the way back and picked it up. The lady who was first in line at opening had the same problem and she was still inside the CC waiting on the phone.
This was almost my exact experience today. Have ordered multiple iPhones on launch day for UPS CC pickup. The tracking scans this year have been more sporadic it seems. Phone tracking showed arrival at destination facility at around 7AM EST. UPS CC here opens at 9:30AM. Normally, I’d be one of the people waiting outside the CC to get my phone, but this year decided to wait a little bit to see if my UPS tracking would update to “ready for pickup.” I gave them until 10AM, and then went to the CC anyway. Upon arriving, the UPS rep checks their will-call system to no avail. He then asks for the tracking number, spends a few minutes walking thru it with me and says that the “destination” scan was a computer generated scan and that my package was not there and would probably not be there until Monday. We went back and forth for a little bit (he tried to say Apple didn’t ship it correctly and that international packages never have guaranteed delivery), and ultimately I realized he couldn’t magically make the package appear so I left and went back home. As soon as I got home, I checked the tracking again and behold - it finally updated to “ready for pickup.” So back to the CC. At this point, there is another iPhone early adopter there and the guy is on the phone with someone at “the hub,” which is also on the same campus as the CC. He now confirms that both my phone and the other guys’ phone is there. Crazy experience and it’s never been like that. Before ultimately getting my phone, I was thinking maybe next year I won’t do CC pickup and instead opt for an Apple Store pickup. Who knows, though.

Phone had an issue in the setup and it wasn't able to activate the cellular. I reset it, started again, restored from a backup -- but still no cellular. Tried calling AT&T but they are unsurprisingly overloaded. Eventually pulled my old SIM and put it into the new phone -- voila it works. Is this something I need to deal with and get AT&T to update the SIM or can I just live life with the old one?
This also happened to me. Cellular would not activate on the new phone. Turned it off and back on. Still wouldn’t activate. Eventually swapped sims, putting the sim from the old phone into the new phone. Still was wonky as later it had me setup an e-sim and transfer the cell service from the old to the new. Noticed later in the day that I wasn’t getting 5G cell signal - only 5GE. Stopped by ATT store and they put a new sim into the phone - voila - 5G cell signal. ATT said they had a lot of iPhone 12 users in for similar issues as me.

My CC pick up was flawless. It took me <2 mins to pick up my phone. The only downside was my CC opened up at 2PM. Still way better than delivery. I will continue with store or CC pick ups. Delivery is cool if you’re not over excited

What do you consider chilly? Lol, it’s 25°F where I’m at.
Eh, tonight would have perfect to test out a new phone (night mode would be new to me), actually slightly warmer and even a tad humid where I am. 3 weeks until Pro Max -can chage

Guess it would be helpful to post the exact message I got 🙂

The text asked me to install the SIM that came in the phone but it was factory unlocked from Apple so there was no SIM

These Verizon texts - also those "Bot Assistant" chat boxes that show up on various websites remind me of the old classic - and very annoying MS "Clippy." 😆

My graphite 12 Pro arrived a little before 7 last night, opened the box and put it aside until this morning. It’s now set up and seems a nice replacement for my (cracked screen) XS Max. I think I will be very happy with the slightly smaller size, but the silicone case will be replaced as soon as I find something else I like. Swarovski still don’t have any for the 12/Pro yet 😁.

It took me 4 hours chatting with T-Mobile help yesterday to get new SIM cards for the 12 Pro’s I received. Hopefully they’re sending the right SIM cards.

I stopped by Verizon to get a new SIM for my 12 Pro. The one that came with my 11 Pro in December 2019 was the previous gen, Verizon texted me saying I need a new SIM for the 12 Pro. The new SIM says 5G on top.
Looks like I may have to go to Verizon then.

I got lucky this time as they came before 12 pm for once. Shocked.

Anyone else having trouble pushing the volume up or down with the Apple MagSafe clear case. I’m not liking it at all wonder if is just my case or someone else is having same issue
Same! I also don’t like how slick it is. Getting a leather case as soon as I can.

So I missed my delivery yesterday as the driver came around 8:30 PM and I had to go to work the night shift for Friday night... It then said attempted delivery - Monday is next delivery time basically. I just checked again and it says it's on a truck and scheduled delivery is for Saturday October 24, 2020. Interesting... Anyone else seeing this?

UPS never came today. My phone arrived in Philly on 10/22 and then somehow went back to Louisville on 10/23. UPS and Apple were incredibly rude and unhelpful on the phone, lying about the status of the shipment and passing blame to others. Just a horrible launch experience this year.
I noticed the same thing. They called me back on a shipping issue and the call was super awkward. It was like I was the cashier and the Apple rep was buying condoms nervously. They tried to blame demand for a late delivery. I’m not getting mine until later next week even though I ordered as soon as the site was up. Like they have been doing this for a decade and figured out how to cram more iPhones on a pallet, why is it still so bad. Maybe they should use some of their billions to improve customer experience.

ATT here. No 5G+ here only 5G SpeedSmart is giving me:

Ping 24ms
Download 154.77 Mbps
Upload 34.02 Mbps

Is this in range of what is to be expected?

Yeah people are saying 5G is worse than LTE in most areas. I just swapped my AT&T SIM and stayed on my Mobile Share plan. No use spending $15 more than speeds worse than I’m getting now.

My wife’s silver iPhone 12 Pro finally showed up last night around 6:45pm. We plugged it straight into her MacBook to restore and it activated on AT&T within minutes. Got her all setup.

She’s still getting comfortable with the phone. She’s coming from an iPhone 8, so no home button, plus the size increase is really making her worry that the phone is too big and that she might’ve wanted to wait for the Mini. I told her to give it a few days to verify that’s the case as we were going to trade in the 8 today for the ATT $800 billing credits.

I think it depends how congested the area is. This is on LTE in West Texas.

If the other phone is in fact lost with the delays in the pro orders I’m almost inclined to just get the pro max at this point. The pro is back ordered until mid November!

Yeah good luck with that. I don’t think it’s reasonable at the end of the day you used the wrong address. You asked them to change it after the timeframe so it was just a request. If they could they could if not we’ll check your address next time.

Ok so here is my reasoning. When I called Apple thursday because I was still concerned it was going to NY and would get stolen, the apple rep said "have no fear, if they deliver it to NY we will simply write it off as a loss and overnight ship you a new device". They know its their fault they couldn't do something as simple as change an address when having 6 days to do so, and they were willing to eat $900 over it. Im just asking for AppleCare to cover the fact that I had to have my friend from NY drive 30 min both ways to intercept the phone and spend $100 to ship it +$50 for his work. I think overall thats a pretty damn good deal for apple

Yes I’m having this same issue but I’ll deal with it and get used to it. No way I’m covering this phone with a solid case, it looks too good.

I’ve tried several clear cases throughout the years and found Apple’s the best. Others have yellowed, scratched too easy, didn’t fit well, or cracked easy.
