Wasn’t there a story recently about Apple gearing up to ship some iphone orders from a number of their retail stores? I’m interested to see if they do this. Might make some people panic if Apple doesn’t get tracking info out until they day before launch.

Like you, I have my order held for pickup at the UPS CC so that I can get it early without waiting a long time for the driver to get to my house.
It just said orders it didn't specify iPhones. But this didn't have anything to do with international shipments it was just to use Apple Stores as mini distribution centers since they are closer to more people.

Honestly, I dont see why people have to wait a week to get a phone for years. Just start shipping orders. Whoever pre ordered Friday should ship out that same day and delivered by Monday. The watches were pre ordered event day and available that Friday. Apple like to keep people waiting after spending 1k on a phone.
I'm sure there is more to it than just letting em start shipping.

So I’m too busy to read 80 pages. First time ordering via Apple. When it says Oct 30-Nov 6, is that absolutely the case or is there a chance Apple is under promising?
My experience has been mixed. Some of my previous orders have shipped sooner, while others have not. I‘d lean more towards October 30th though because inventory is so dynamic.

May change. They usually have a bit of a buffer so you might get it a few days sooner. Not like 23rd soon but maybe a week later?

Edit oops replied to the wrong quote.

For the who successfully ordered today any advice for those ordering in 3 weeks? I have a XS Max so it's been a few years since I woke up at midnight (Los Angeles time) to order (why have they changed to 5 AM LA time?). Basically the same process I guess? Any advice is appreciated....

If applicable:

1. Check your shipping address.

2. Check your expiration date on your credit card on file.

3. Check your security code on the credit card on file.

4. Set up the pre-order until the sequence of screens ends with something like 'you're all done, just come back on Nov 6' OR set everything you want as a favorite so you can just click on each to add to the cart.

5. Unfreeze your credit if you're doing iUP, applying for Apple Card, etc.

6. Have a spare device near (an iPad with the Apple Store app or a computer with Apple.com on a browser.)

That's all I can think of for now. I'm sure many people will offer you their tips. :)

Are there some of you who have yet to be charged for their phones? When should I start to be concerned?
Don't worry. If there was an issue apple would have sent you an email. I used the wrong card the first time and got the email within 30 minutes.

Also tip don't stress about things you see/don't see on the order status. Apple and UPS work really closely and some things you see on normal shipments you won't see here. Also your phone won't say "shipped" until the night before when it gets to UPS WorldPort in Louisville. So your phone will likely be well on it's way by midweek you will never know it.

Have you ever seen that orders get earlier than quoted?

Mine went through at 8:04 am EDT with 3-6 of November delivery. I am really hoping it comes earlier than that.....
Yes. Definitely. Mine have always been earlier if I didn’t get a Launch Day delivery date. My Apple Watch 6 arrived a week early a month ago. As many of us have said, Apple often underpromises and over delivers.

On the other hand, the one time I ordered with AT&T as soon as orders went live, the date got later and later and later after ordering in first few minutes. I finally canceled and picked up my phone in my Apple Store.

It makes sense there is a good number of phones, seeing as 6.1 inch regular and Pro are going to be the heavy sellers, and my understanding is they have been in production since Late July, so it makes sense they would have high volume.

I wish I knew if the chipset was Qualcomm x55 or x60...

How is this different from previous silicone cases? Looks like they added protection around the bottom?

Yep, it now fully covers the bottom of the phone. There is a cutout for the lightning port and small holes on either side for the speaker and microphone. It's definitely an improvement over the silicone case I have on my iPhone X.

Edit: Here's a pic showing the bottom.

That's how the cases where on the 5/5s they had the top and bottom covered. My guess is it's easier with the squared edges.

12 Pro Pacific Blue 128GB, preparing to ship!!

I have to say, the process this year is night and day compared to previous years. Updates that usually take a few days are coming in less within 12 hrs since preorder.

I wonder if this has to do with the fact that we didn’t have both 12, 12 Pro, AND 12 Pro Max chaos all on the same day.

I got a notification saying my iPhone 12 case is ready to pick up, so here it is! It has just the slightest lip to it, but I’m pretty sure the magnet is what will hold the phone in place. One pic shows my iPhone X in the case.

Awesome thanks for the X pic. Looks to be just slightly bigger probably not even noticeable.

Well, my MagSafe case and MagSafe charger have shipped. The order page says they’ll arrive by 10/21, but Fedex says they’ll arrive Sunday 10/18. Interesting.
