I just chatted with Apple. I explained how I saw the delivery date slipped while the order was processed. It went from 10/23 to 11/03. The agent offered me to upgrade to express shipping for free. I don't know if it will make a difference or not. But she mentioned she couldn't change the delivery date.

this is what happened to me! Did you call or do the iMessage chat?

yes. Sending in my iPhone a few years ago to AT&T was a nightmare. I couldn’t track it because it is a weird shipping company. They had no record of it. Couldn’t tell me what had happened to my phone. After the expected date they finally said they received my phone. After so much stress and anxiety and no help from AT&T I swore I would never deal with them with orders or trade ins. I now use Apple 1UP and it’s such a relief. I also “thought” I was getting a better date to receive my new phone through AT&T but that also turned out to be a nightmare. The order “disappeared.” Then the date got later and later (I ordered in first minutes). After a week or so I canceled the order with AT&T and picked up the phone I wanted at an Apple Store. I will only use Apple for orders and trade ins now
i had hell sending in my phone one year where the next year I dropped it off at a retail store and it was lost. It took me months fighting with them to remove the charge.

Well, my MagSafe case and MagSafe charger have shipped. The order page says they’ll arrive by 10/21, but Fedex says they’ll arrive Sunday 10/18. Interesting.
I ordered one right after the phone with 10/21 date too. Mine still preparing for shipment. Lol.

not sure if anyone else is seeing this, but i ordered right at 7am CT this morning (ended up being like 7:03 once the app loaded successfully) and placed my order and it showed a delivery date of october 23rd when i placed the order. i checked the apple store app just now and now its saying October 30th-Nov 6th. Anyone else experience this? I chatted with apple and the person told me that its because its "standard shipping" even though I confirmed with him that everyone is standard shipping and there is no way to pay for expedited shipping during a product launch. So I am curious if anyone else experienced this.

Sorry kmkjams, not here. I placed right at 7:00am CT and it still says Fri Oct 23. Your order at 7:03 is still very early, I wouldn't be surprised if that updates to Fri Oct 23 in the next couple of days.

all i am saying is that apple allowed pre order on the event day and watches were in hand in three days so why it cant be the same for the phone

Volume - much more iPhone are going to be ordered than watches - some ordered phones from this morning are getting manufactured as we speak.

This morning I place an order for 2x midnight blue 512 GB iPhone Pro, 1 x iPhone 12 256GB in green, and 1x iPhone 12 in red. All for local Apple store pick up on October 23rd. I am still torn on which phone to keep b/c really the phone I actually want is the iPhone 12 Pro MAX 512 GB which I do plan to order on Nov 6th as well. I will have to decide on which phone I want to keep. I won't bother opening them until I'm absolutely certain the model I land on is really what suits my needs.

as i am saying again, every year a company does the same thing by holding onto your 1k device for a week when in actuality the phone is just sitting there lol

Of course they have inventory the second it's announced, but could you image the pandemonium if they allowed you to order right then, the TINY amount of stock would be gone in a blink of an eye, and people would have to wait a lot longer than a week of preorder to get a phone. It's all about pleasing the highest number of customers at once as possible.
