Yes after 3 plus years that’s the usual scenario. It heads up late Thursday from Louisville towards Illinois for me and then is out for delivery on opening day. What was nice with UPS choice was that once out for delivery I get option to track the truck with UPS. Last year my X arrived in morning at 9 am (a first). I had interesting discussion with driver about the tracking and logistics of delivery to homes. He said computers chose route and if there are several deliveries in my neighborhood then it comes early. Major areas of delivery come first such as business ares so often its end of day.
Still in ZhengZhou. Next stop will be either Korea, Honk Kong or Shanghai before getting on a flight to Anchorage
I'm still in Processing with a 9/21 delivery date for my Max 256 ATT SG! Anyone in this boat with me? I feel so behind!
Does any one with Xs sim free model see any tracking update or info. I don’t see it on my UPS choice and can not track it by reference.
Got my tracking via reference number on UPS site.

This showed up in my UPS app this morning. Apple still says preparing to ship, which I expect won't change until the end of the week. I didn't have any issues using the Delivery Change option on the UPS app to have the phone held at my local Customer Center, as I've done the last several times I've ordered a phone. I'm getting a 256 SG Xs (AT&T). The weight is listed as .4 KGS. I only ordered one item so I know this is the phone.
Yes and usually a custom clearance might be there before travel to Anchorage but not always. Sometimes it is at the main UPS hub in Louisville that I see only customs clearance scan.
I think we'll see that today with a flight out tomorrow. Looks like all the planes for today are in the air with nothing scheduled the rest of the day.
They do make mistakes, and it has happened. The vast majority of the time, the package is held without issue.

Last year mine was one of the first to go on UPS and was trackable, and it was also one of the last to make the trip to Louisville on Thursday! I figured it was just pushed back as the new ones came in!

I keep sitting here hoping it gets pushed up or I magically see it “preparing to ship”... probably won’t see nothing until late this week. 
Your device could leave China on 9/20 and still be delivered on 9/21. UPS logistics doesn't eff up phone launches. Too much to lose.
I am just nervous as normally I would be home waiting until about 5 or 6pm. And was thinking of taking the chance of holding at my nearest UPS CC for early pick up. XS Max and Series 4.
Yeah, I had an iPhone with absolutely no tracking info until the day before delivery, then BOOM, it gets populated with all this activity that I hadn't previously seen. Once it's in Louisville, it can move very late the night before to anywhere in the US and be on the truck to your house the next morning.
Yes, mine says tentative as well but the actual tracking page says the 21st. I’m not too worried though.
I’m having this exact same issue on my XS Max Leather Case. Curious. I’m not too worried - if I harvest to I’ll use it careless for a few days. But still, odd.
