Finally picked up my phone this morning. I'll definitely be aiming for in-store pickup from now on. UPS can shove off. Also, I love the size of the Max.

The only problem with that, mine was supposed to be picked up at 630 on launch day.
Today, it STILL hasnt shipped out. Apple keeps delaying it saying it’s at the warehouse and won’t let me cancel or anything. It’s getting super frustrating when they just keep regurgitating the same thing over “we’re working to get it to you as fast as possible and apologize for the delay. There was a logistical issue that happened which delayed it”
One guy in front of me. Took me longer to read the two tracking numbers to her than it did for her to get my boxes. It was excellent.
Mine is still sitting in Anchorage, over a day and a half with no movement. Calls to both Apple and UPS were a complete waste of time. Neither are willing to look into why it can’t be loaded onto a plane. Both just say it will arrive tomorrow but it seems very doubtful since it is still in AK this late in the day. Disappointed in Apples give a rip attitude that I experienced today on a $1350 phone.
My Apple guy said they’d expedite a second phone if it looks like it won’t be delivered by Wed. It’s still in AK.
Update: Left AK at 3:35pm on 9/24.

It must be on the same flight as my wife’s Apple Watch as it left at the same time.
As of now, my phone’s been at the 72-hr mark at Zhengzhou at the clearing agency. I take it that’s not normal.
Hope you all have better luck than me on that regard.
mine also left at this time! hopefully ours is together and will be delivered tomorrow! what a nightmare this launch has gone.... i'm in washington DC
I ordered mine last night with an estimated delivery date of Oct 8-15, and it went from "processing" to "preparing to ship" today. Does this mean it is already going to ship soon? I am in shock.
Came on here to complain. Looks like I'm not the only one with the iPhone Xs delayed by customs in Hong Kong... Hopefully I get it tomorrow. My friend has been telling me how the new phone isn't worth it and he wants to return it... maybe I'll do that.
I ordered a xs Max space gray 256gb Friday morning for my brother with the same expected delivery window and it changed to preparing to ship after a few hours but no changes since then. Hopefully they ship out soon! I already got mine on launch day and he’s been jealous ever since lol.
It takes a lot longer for Apple to let you know it shipped, then it does for it to go from processing to preparing to ship. My phone is in the same boat as yours, preparing to ship Oct 8th-15th delivery. Keep an eye on UPS though, as my first phone (which I returned) shipped 3-4 days before Apple changed on their site from Preparing to Ship to Shipped. Either become a member of MY UPS or use the Track by Reference option on UPS's website. For reference number either use your phone number on the order or your Order # with the W minus the last 2 digits. Good luck.......
I ordered last Thursday or Friday after buckling to the pressure of not skipping this version. Hahah. Anyhoo, mine went to preparing to ship very quickly but sat there until the wee hours of the morning and I got my shipped email just now when I woke up. The email states it will be in Oct 1. My original delivery window was Oct 5-12. Hope this helps.
I wouldn’t stress too much guys! My UPS tracking was very delayed. Mine was an est arrival of Sept 28- Oct 5 and I received mine yesterday Sept 24! Stay positive 
it also said it’d be delivered at 3pm yesterday but it ended up getting here at about 10am! Once shipped, mine only took 3 days to get here
I absolutely LOVE 512gb Max! It definitely is big but it’s well worth it. The only gripe I have is you HAVE to get a fast charger (iPad charger, wireless, etc) because I’ve been using the new cable with my “fast charging” QC3.0 Anker brick and it charges extremely slow, especially when you use the phone while charging. I ordered a wireless one last night!

My phone has shipped. So far date tentative for delivery. Had an Oct 8th-15th delivery date. Now comes the rollercoaster ride......
Update: Just checked my email and I got 2 from Apple. First one was phone shipped with Oct 1st delivery and 2nd one is trade In kit is on its way. They didn’t need to send that as I still have the one they sent for my first phone that I returned.
Update #2: Apple website says phone scheduled for Sept 28th delivery. Phone is At clearing agency for final release. Interesting my first phone shipped from Shenzhen whereas the new phone from Zhengzhou. First phone was an XS 2nd phone an XS Max.

I am in complete shock. I ordered mine Sunday night. It is already shipped. I just got the email, and it says it will be delivered October 1. But, when I log in to check the package, it says Arrives Friday, September 28! I have never seen this fast of turnaround. I'm completely amazed but feel bad for those who ordered on pre-order night and are still waiting.
There is a catch, though. When I check the UPS tracking page, it says the package is at the clearing agency awaiting final release. And after Scheduled Delivery: Scheduled delivery information not available at this time. Please check back later. So, it's possible it could be stuck in customs for days and not arrive until October 15. Who knows at this point.
I ordered mine Sunday afternoon. Our phones must be together. We are phone pals for this short while
My XS Max was delivered last night on 9/24/2018. That's about 7-10 days early given the original delivery window of 10/1-10/8. I guess I was one of the lucky ones. Hope all of you who are still waiting get yours soon.
Mine is finally "out for delivery"...Apple's order site still says it arrives Friday the 21st.
