It is weirdly quiet.

I'll have my 256 GB black XR delivered on the 26th. Very excited!
Case and screen protectors are already here awaiting its arrival.
Hello, can I ask what/where Screen protector you bought? I need to buy one before Friday. Thx

I got the Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit. It’s not sold in my country but i eventually found a seller on ebay that would ship here. They are available on Amazon in countries where they are present, but they tend not to ship to other countries. It comes with two protectors and guides for fitting it perfectly. ”Full cover” case compatible, so 2.5D.

I understand that by ordering directly from Apple, the phone is shipped over to the customer by a courier directly from China. Is that right?
If so, which couriers are they using, and most importantly, do they deliver it to your door (meaning you have to be at home) or to your nearest post office, for example?

I am pretty sure last time I pre-ordered, it was shipped to me via UPS. They do not deliver to a post office. You have to be at home (or wherever you had it shipped to) in order to sign for it, as they won't just leave it on your front door. You may be able to contact the shipper after you get the tracking number to make alternate pickup arrangements. For example, they may be able to hold it at one of their distribution centers for you to get it. Or you can pre-order it to pick it up at an Apple Store if you have one nearby and that's more convenient for you.

You could dig up the pre-order threads from last year to see a lot of actual delivery and tracking cases.

That’s an issue. Being available to sign something off is not an option for me. Also, there are no Apple Stores where I live, so that doesn’t work either.
You’d have to order through a carrier, who offer an in-store pick-up, but none of them seem to be able to provide a firm delivery date.

The 2 iPhone XSs I ordered did not require a signature. If they do Apple let’s you print a form to pre sign and they will leave it if your not home.

Sign up for UPS My Choice (free). You can have it held at the nearest UPS customer center (wherever the package would be before it went out for delivery). If you choose a UPS store, I think there is a 1 day delay.

Where would they leave it though? Does pre-signing transfer liability over to you in case the package somehow is not waiting for you on the front porch when you get home?

My 256 Blue XR AT&T has a departure scan on 10/21 from ZhengZhou, China. After reading around the forum I just decided for my sanity and nerves to have my nearest UPS Customer Center to hold my package since its only 23 minutes away from my house.

Downside of ordering for in-store pickup: no stalking tracking across the ocean.

When I read this at work I didn't think you literally meant "stalking tracking across the ocean" however I was proven very wrong when I went back and read past posts in this thread from the XS/XS Max pre-orders.

Should I worry that my 256 Red XR that I ordered the minute they went on sale still says Preparing to Ship on the apple.com order status page but arrives october 26? Probably not, right?

I wouldn't worry about it. You will get it on the 26th.

Ha! It's true - usually a big part of pre-ordering fun! I'm actually surprised how quiet these threads are for the XR.

Probably already in the US - or even not - it will come on time :)

Don’t worry about it. My coral and blue is still saying preparing to ship, but UPS tracking is saying both left CN.

My XR is preparing to ship. Ordered 55 minutes after ordering went live. If it ships today, then it will be in time for a Friday delivery. Maybe even tomorrows shipments will arrive Friday.

Those already shipped to North America this morning will likely simply be held until Friday. That's what the carriers are supposed to do, although occasionally one slips through for an early delivery.

It turns out mine has shipped too, according to UPS. In fact, it shipped on Sunday!

I've seen multiple people talk about using the UPS app. How do I find a tracking number if it still says preparing to ship?

If you are registered with the UPS app, then the package will show up automagically in the app. You don't need to enter the tracking number. I guess it checks your name and address or something. The app also allows you to change the shipping destination to a local UPS partner too if desired.

In the past you could also use the order number in some situations as a kind of reference number, but I can't remember if that was UPS or FedEx. I did try my order number on the UPS website, but I couldn't find the package that way. However, the UPS app had my package listed (even though Apple still also says it's Preparing to Ship).
