This gets said every year but it bears repeating: ship dates are not necessarily related to sales figures. In order to make that correlation you would have to have manufacturing data (how many phones does Apple have ready to sell on launch day, etc).

And it's not like they stopped making phones the day of the event either.... still pumping out somewhere around 500k phones per day if past stats are still accurate.

So between preorder night and ship day on the 20th they can pump out another 3.5 million orders.

Originally pre-ordered last night for the XS Max 64 GB gold and had sept 21 delivery date, but switched to Space Grey 256 GB as I felt that was a better "deal" and now have Sept 28 - Oct 5. Previously stated i'd never pay over $1K for a cell phone but Apple got me lol. DEFINITELY keeping this thing for at least the next 5ish years so no more apple products for me!
haha, see you back here next year :)

Man, I'm so jealous. Ordered on the App Store app at 2:05 central time, the moment the app let me in, had my confirmation email by 2:07 and it slipped already to 2-3 weeks. It HAS improved to 1-2 weeks, and Sep 28th to Oct 5th, as where Im HOPING for a launch day surprise, I highly doubt it. This is my very first launch day miss, and it took minutes. :( I ordered the 512K Space Gray iPhone XS Max on AT&T by the way. 2 of them. Both same ship time.

Eh, sorry. Those 512gb Space Gray MAX's w/ ATT seemed to be the ones selling the most. I noticed around 3:08am that model quickly slipped to Oct 12th, then bumped up to Sept 28-Oct 5.

Very possible those may be bumped up some more in the coming days. THIS is exactly what happened with my 6+, few minutes my order was "delivery October 17!" The Oct 4. Suddenly that changed to Sept 24th, not the release date...but a heck of a lot better than mid October. Hope this happens for you.

It's also entirely possible that Apple expected the 256 to be the big seller, and ordered a larger production run... and that the demand for the 512 was higher than Apple anticipated... so they were somewhat under-stocked... either way, Apple still sold a crap-load of phones... and reports of "it just isn't selling as well this year because I can still get one" is just plain B.S.

Ya! I’m in PFS! Let the fun begin!

Side note: IUP users: watch out for double charges this month. Last year I was charged “payment 13” of old phone the day before getting charged “Payment #1” of new phone. Took emailing Tim Cooks office to get the charge taken off. Was a HASSLE to say the least. Citizens blaming Apple, and Apple blaming Citizens. Just an FYI.

From: 8 plus Gold 256
To: XS Max Gold 64
Ordered: 12:03 PST from San Diego
IUP, Sept 21 delivery

I ordered an AT&T XS Max 256 with a day one pickup.

Because of my schedule I really don’t want to risk waiting all day to get it delivered. I see a lot of people that plan on switching their orders to pickup at the UPS Customer Centers Friday morning.

Does it matter which customer center I choose? Will picking one over another change the date or time I can pick mine up? Will the phones be there Friday morning or could I be risking having to wait longer then what a delivery would actually be?

Thanks for any info, it would be my first time diverting to a customer center.
Make sure it is a customer care center, not ups store. If you divert it to a UPS Store that will actually delay your delivery.

All three (see sig) are PFS. Looks like a much smoother process than years past. Last year was pretty good, and the year before was the fiasco of the IUP phones being out of stock in three seconds <shudder>......

So once I have the tracking number I can specifically them which customer center handles the package? Is that exactly how I should word that?

Thank you!
Correct. Just call, email or chat with them be like can you tell me which cc handles my packages. Then you get the UPS app and change the deliervy place to be held.
