Carrier Apple.com New 2018 iPhone Pre-Order Thread

So I’m running a little experiment with UPS. I separately ordered a case and two lightning-to-stereo dongles, which all shipped yesterday from Ontario, CA, scheduled for delivery tomorrow. I changed the delivery point to my nearest UPS store. When I did it did pop up a notice saying it would be delayed until Tuesday, but I’m testing whether that REALLY happens, or if UPS’s system is just being cautious.

I’ll let everyone know what happens, but I do wonder if the iPhone shipments are somehow different in a way that would cause it to be delayed even if my experiment works.

BTW, this whole situation of changing the delivery point causing a delay is why I really don’t like UPS. I did the exact same thing with my MacBook Pro when it shipped via FedEx, and they did it without issue.

Oddly, it doesn't give me my local UPS CC as a pickup choice (I've picked up my last 3-4 phones there). Maybe they've wised up and don't want the morning crowds.

Two problems with that. One, the latest versions of iTunes don't allow that anymore and two, you lose the ability of partial installs to save space. That is, you get the full app, not the slimmed down version, as desktop restores put all the app modules on board, including the unneeded iPad parts.

You can use iMazing to download all the apps. I use the app for that as well as backups and a plethora of other iPhone related tasks. It is very popular. Much better than iTunes.
 
So my XS Max Space Grey 256GB ordered at 2:02 am is still showing “Preparing to Ship” but the temp auth on my CC from apple disapeared overnight. This is my first year successful getting a launch day delivery date so this makes me nervous. Has everyone else had their cc charge stick? Am I just being neurotic?

A lot of people on reddit and other forums have gotten my hopes high by saying that most likely I'll even get it on the 21st (if not, VERY soon after) and that Apple slipped the dates back so soon (ordered 3:17 EST) just as a safety net. I just keep kicking myself in the a** for sleeping in late :( Could've had it here this Friday if I woke up on time...

Not to mention all the people who get "Buyer's remorse" and cancel, therefore moving others up! So stay tuned. LOL!

I don't either. You use the normal iTunes backup that is built in. But it doesn't back up the actual apps, it backs up the information on your apps so that when you do a restore, iTunes knows where to get your apps on Apple's store and it downloads them. Yes, it takes a long tine, but it gives you the "efficient" installs, not the full app sizes.

They put the hold on, then it falls off. CC is charged when they ship. No worries.

AW S4 preparing to ship and UPS label has been created so it shows up in UPS MyChoice. Xs Max preparing to ship but not in UPS system yet. Not worried, I’ve never gotten a delayed delivery.

I have an X also. For me, the OLED would have been enough. Larger screen was something I actually thought about for like half a second before going with the Max. Loved the plus screen but I’ve been happy with the size of my X. Went with the Max because I’m sure I’ll end up wanting the larger display.

Some more UPS MYCHOICE Conspiracies...

My label that was created has 6 different reference numbers. One is my phone number. One starts with a W that looks like an Apple Order number but isn't one of mine. One is phone number in my city but not mine. One is a New Jersey phone number. Others are random that don't pull up anything via Google.

Let the games begin...

True... I was just annoyed because if I preordered thru T-Mobile's website, they had 21st delivery for a while... but I really wanted the IUP... so... :) Just my luck lol. I'm just too impatient and get waayyy too excited over these phones. You should've seen me on iPhone 7/7 Plus preorder..... tracking every single plane like my life depended on it.

I'm so sad. Apple screwed up my order, and wouldn't fix it, so I ended up having to cancel and reorder. First time since 2007 not having the new phone on launch day. I have Sept 28- Oct 5, and I keep obsessively refreshing to see if I get pushed up by some miracle. I'll be watching all you guy's excitement and following along with a sad face. :(

Hey I've preordered every year for the iPhone 4S, 5, 6 Plus, and 7 Plus as soon as the stores went live and have never gotten it on launch day :) And the tradition continues with this years Xs Max too! I have very bad luck. Sorry for your situation, tho :(

LOL! I ordered my Max for apple store pickup so I know I won't be seeing any tracking info until later this week and maybe not at all. But I delight in seeing everyone here so excited about their new device and tracking every movement. The only thing I feel bad about is feeling like a privileged *itch while so many are suffering due to all the horrid weather happening all over. :(

Hey guys, I've preordered iPhone Xs SIM-free 256GB Gold within first hour in the US and it's still in Processing state. No charge on the CC either. Is there anyone in similar situation? Should I worry?

P. S. Sorry for the wrong thread. I've only noticed it's carriers' thread.
