A lot of double-speak, hypocrisy, half-truths, and misdirection from the left and right got us here. People that don't pay attention might not remember who said what when, but the internet doesn't forget. That said, it is only 14 days to slow the spread... that really isn't that long...
Don’t try to “both sides” this issue. The left has little responsibility for the massive failure of the Trump administration to treat the pandemic as a national emergency.

The current crisis is due to Trump and the Republicans and complicit propaganda partners like Fox News. Period. They tried to ignore/downplay the pandemic since January because they didn’t want to hurt the economy.

This is why they first had "donate" masks and shields. If they just started manufacturing millions of masks but kept them all for their retail employees, it would have been bad PR.

That must definitely be it.

Update: Apple has informed Bloomberg that it only designed the Apple Face Mask. The ClearMask was sourced in partnership with Gallaudet University, which specializes in educating deaf and and hard of hearing students, and it was tested with Apple employees. Apple is working on its own transparent mask options for future use.

As a hearing-impaired person, I definitely can attest to the value of being able to see someone's lips, facial expressions, etc., and I am pleased that Apple is making the effort to ensure the most effective communication between their employees and their hearing-impaired customers. That ClearMask looks as though it would be just the thing!

Although my sound processors are effective, there is still no substitute for being able to actually look at a person's mouth as he or she is speaking, too. As a child I learned to lipread and am still pretty skillful at it, although with hearing aids, not really dependent on it. The other day I was in the library and was chatting with one of the staff, and realized that I was missing a lot of what she was saying and trying to guess at it. The mask she was wearing muffled her voice and of course I could not see her lips, which would have helped me fill in some of the blanks. Clear masks definitely can serve a good purpose!

About effective fitting of masks: instead of using the ear loops around my ears, I simply use a large paperclip to connect the two ear loops lower on my neck, under my hair, and that really does make a difference in ensuring that the mask fits snugly, my glasses rarely fog up, and if I need to pull the mask down temporarily, that works out well, too. This strategy eliminates any potential discomfort with regard to using the loops around my ears and the overall fit of the mask feels more snug and secure......

I like that it appears to provide some space around the mouth; perhaps your speech won't sound so muffled?

If that is your approach you have failed 100%. Masks must be worn covering the mouth and nose and if lowered to allow the wearer to eat or drink, they must be discarded for washing or disposal. They are not to be put in a pocket and then be worn again after lunch etc.

But how do I get from home to work? If I wear it, it stays clean, but then I get shamed on Facebook...

Is this N95 and above or just regular masks?

China now has too much capacity for N95, and we still cant source enough N95?

Regular masks are ineffective in high risk locations, such as inside of an Apple Store or on a plane.

Simple: unless you are riding on public transportation, you don't need to use the mask until you have arrived at work. If you are using a bus or subway train to get to work, then yes, you have a second mask available with you to put on when for whatever reason removing and then discarding the first one....

I'm not the biggest fan of masks, but I must say, I would happily buy and wear this one if they sold it.

Just add an Apple logo. ;)

Obviously the mask was molded to fit Jony Ive’s own face. It‘s other users’ fault if they don’t have the same facial structure. Will the mask be glued to users’ faces? :D

So where do I put my mask while I’m driving 7 minutes to work?

Can the "Apple mask" somehow work with face ID? If it can, make it reusable and include it in iPhone 12 Pro boxes.

Trump has doing amazing, the left didn’t wanna close the border at China because of racism, don’t understand why you can’t be thankful you have a great leader

According to Facebook conspiracies, the metal used for nose adjustment on disposable masks is a 5G antenna that spreads COVID 🙄

This is why a story about masks ends up in a political forum.

Because some people can't help but post every 20 minutes about it, take every opportunity to make political hay over it, and kinda loose their minds over it.

People can't simply make their point and move on anymore. We all got your point like 10 posts ago. Some of us agree with you, some don't. But it's overkill dude...

Well, Apple designs, so we new this was coming..

Conspiracy theorists will happily add that to their "info".

Pointing out how things needlessly become political, or really just plain out there, is how things get political?
