The whole problem right now regarding the face mask issue is that we were raised in an individualistic society that taught us that doing things for others that isn’t directly for our personal benefit is a sign of weakness.
Research shows closing the border to China would have done zilch in preventing the spread of the virus. That’s just a Republican wet dream/fantasy talking point to get votes.
So wrong. Apple is going portless with this year's mask. Hole free masks are the wave of the future. And, Le Gasp! No charger in the box! Horror beyond horror! Suck it up, buttercup.
I believe Apple has the strongest brand in the world. If this mask were available to the general public, it would be the best selling mask, period. The Apple brand stands for quality and attention to detail. We want this in our devices, but we need this in anything that relates to our health.

Dude, you do realise its for employees only, right? Price is irrelevant as all employees will get it for free. This is not for customers but to protect employees and thats it. Why do you bring in price is beyond me
They may have the brand, but not the necessarily the quality, period (guessing made in China, on an existing mask line/company).
WHY would you buy a mask from Apple, over proven brands like 3M, etc?!? Moot, as these aren't even for sale, period. PS. They would NOT be best selling mask, period.

Just an hour ago, I popped in the Ace hardware store in West Bend Wi, where the country music was on good & loud and none of the staff were wearing any PPE, & on my way back out I got dirty looks from the employees (easily in their 60s/70s) before I heard one of them refer to me in the next aisle over as a “f’n commie” lol. If he only knew about my red bra & panties, oh my. When I left, I drove past three packed pubs, with no one going in or out wearing any protection, and as I sat at the light, got flipped off by a group of leather-clad yuppies gathered around their leaky harleys out front. I drive a Prius in rural Wisconsin. I am a magnet for these people, and there are a LOT of them. That these people don’t wear masks is about to be the least of the US’s problem with this state.

He chose to downplay the seriousness while Americans died.

Nothing in my OP labeled the political leanings of the people, including me, that I referred to as "trolls". Misinformation is not unique to one side or the other in anything these days. It's the nasty comments that are exchanged anytime there is a difference in opinion that get out of hand that I was referring to which, in context, is why MR has learned the value of labeling some topics as political.
Individualism is great. We should all do whatever we can to be self-reliant and not depend on others (or the government) to solve every problem.

Thanks for being understanding. IMO, I agree with pretty much everything you said, though I deviate in that I think our challenge is to not stereotype. So, I personally try to say ‘most Republicans’, or something like ‘common Republican values’ because their are, indeed, some Repubs who spoke out, early on, about 45’s handling of COVID, and have wanted to work across the aisle.
I don’t think you quite understand how masks work. The surgical and cloth masks that most people wear aren’t for the wearer’s protection. They’re to prevent the wearer from spreading droplets. Reusing cloth masks you haven’t washed may be nasty, but it still serves its intended purpose.
Same goes for pulling a mask down when not in the presence of others, carrying a mask in your pocket, and reusing single-use masks. You’re still protecting others around you.
