For me, the 25% weight reduction on the big iPad Pro, combined with just refreshing chips, battery, storage, and camera along with the incremental Magic Keyboard upgrades, makes this kind of an instant upgrade for someone that uses an iPad pretty frequently for pleasure and work. All the stuff about AI, incremental usability of iPad OS, etc are kind of bonuses, if they ever come to fruition at all.

Even though it looks great, I think I prefer an M4 and the desktop, but even if I was going to buy one of these, I would wait for the new OS to be on it for a start and also by then just see if there’s any issues with the black one getting scuffed and any of them bending like the original iPad Pro did. Just because it’s new doesn’t mean I’m gonna rush out and get it straight away. When an iPad can let me book a ticket on Emirates I’ll be impressed!

I’ll wait and see what the new iPadOS is all about about before I consider buying one and when I do, I’d want the latest version actually on the iPad. I don’t want to have to it this year. iPads are kind of media consumption machines for me really I tend to have to turn to the real version of a different browser on a Mac sometimes to get things done that the iPads gimped browser just won’t let me do. I think I’d prefer a Mac mini with an M4 pro to be honest and a new iPhone this year. Also, I want to see how they fare in the wild how fragile they are and what the Space black versions is like when it comes to wear and tear and chips in the paintwork. No need to rush out and buy this for myself yet.

I had plans to upgrade to the larger size anyway. The M4 makes me feel a little better about not releasing an update last October. When they released the M3 Macbook Pro less than a year after releasing the M2 Macbook Pro and no iPad Pro updates, I was disappointed. I am glad to see that they went with the M4 with the new iPad Pros. I am hoping that the Nano Texture reduces or does away with the glare. I was hoping that they would have gone with magSafe charging, but after seeing the event, maybe it was to thin to go with the magSafe. I was thinking they might have at least added that to the new Magic Keyboard. Maybe MagSafe will be a future upgrade. I like the way it snaps into place on the Macbook Pro.

Specs on paper don't mean as much as iPadOS being able to take advantage of that powerful hardware.

It remains to be seen how well it does so.

Same can be said for every Apple product available.

MacOS does not take advantage of the hardware and neither does iOS.

Even with an M2 Ultra+192GB RAM, Apps on MacOS don't take advantage of the full power. We are 4-years into Apple Silicon and still over 50% of wildly popular apps are not fully optimized.

[Side note. Windows is same. [Not that many apps/games take full advantage of the 14900 series CPU/4090 combo]

Oh Apple is 100% going to screw over M3 Macbook owners less than a year of ownership. BET.

Since my 2013 iPad Air has been retired for several years I have been chomping at the bit for a replacement. I had the expectation of filling that empty place in my Apple stuff with one of the new models. I did. I ordered the 13" iPad Pro with 1TB of memory, which gets me the maximum RAM available on the Pro model. With the Nano Screen. It is projected to be delivered about the 14th of June.

I wonder how the nano texture glass impacts the feel of the Apple Pencil . Maybe makes it a bit more “paper like”?

I’ll be holding out till we see the iPadOS updates, I have a small glimmer of hope we get a “desktop mode” with the new iPadOS (it’s overdue).

I was really hoping for a 14” iPad Pro though.

This event was the peak of capitalist cringe. Also that BART scene was hilarious seeing it all clean and people with $1,000+ tablets without a case not getting robbed.

Yes. Some folks (like me) are offended by display glare. Nano texture may be the thing that finally drives some to buy an iPP.

I'm the opposite. Matte screens (that's basically what nano is) tend to look "dull," despite Apple's assurances otherwise. I like shiny and crisp. Unless you use it outside a lot, or in a space with giant freakin' windows facing the sun every day, nano doesn't work for me personally.

It will be entertaining to see how many people will say the M4 makes it a must buy. 😂 Yet, 99% that do will have no discernible difference beyond their imagination.

The weight of the 13 will be noticeable: 1.5 lbs vs 1.28. Not much difference with the 11 weight (1.02 via .98)
