Went Android myself 2 years ago, and switched to Windows 10 with a computer that fully resemble a MacBook pro, yes it took time to adjust, and I had to repurchase the software, but guess what, SW + the new computer / phone was WAY cheaper than buying the XsMax 512 alone (yes it was that cheap).

Ended up with a fully up to date computer, a gorgeous phone, new software and saved money, the beauty of it is with suckers buying my old iPhone for a higher price than expected almost paid off the new purchases.

There were time I thought Apple was making great products, nowadays I see them as a dongle maker machine, and a subpar QC company, people always say they have good customer support, and it is true, but for that kind of money it is the least they can do, they should spend more money in QC than in support!

To each his / her own, get what you can affort and you like, in the end it is just a bunch of chips that you will eventually change in about 2-3 years ( for a phone it might even be less than that).

Shouldn't have to. Do you know how difficult it is to get Apple users to download and use 3rd party apps for chat and text? I have dozens of friends who refuse to do it and I constantly hear the same from many in the Apple/iPhone circles.

Why download 3rd party apps when there are already apps that do that, that are built in. I can't say I don't disagree with them.

Asking people to download another app just doesn't work, plain and simple.
Yes because downloading a 3rd party app is so difficult to do. I mean it takes maybe 30 seconds of their day.My guess is they have downloaded other 3rd party apps already. It may only be a couple but its not like its hard to do.

No other company would get away with selling you a device, that you own, that you don't actually "own". Only Apple gets away with that.

Duo costs money doesnt it?

I understand where they are coming from. I don't use 3rd party messaging, email or video chat apps. If everyone was going to do that, what's the purpose of building in robust ones to begin with?

Because there are better things out there? I dont use Snapchat but millions do and your stock iMessage app cant do anything near what Snapchat does. Its fun for young people and things like that is why millions flock to Android.
As far as Duo....if iPhone users who like to video chat with friends and relatives on Android then that is why they should get Duo.
As has been said for years now, Apple limits the iPhone so much it isnt worth having for many.....like me.

I use Snapchat, but not very often.

You're just not getting the point. I've tried. I've even polled friends on Facebook and an overwhelming majority of them just aren't interested in Duo or Hangouts or Whatsapp, etc.

I’m an iPhone user and refuse to download secondary or tertiary messaging apps,

Not out of simplicity or loyalty to apple, but just because I don’t want to and frankly don’t have to.

iMessage and FaceTime that’s it.

If they want to reach me, they need an apple device and there are cheap iPhones and cheap iPads or MacBook.

It’s not a difficult concept to grasp, on the contrary....

And this proves my point. Until both apps come to Android (ha!), I'll be stuck with two devices.

Would that be a pink unicorn driving the maserati lol, boy you have taken over as my new favourite poster. The absolute amazing claptrap you post makes my day. 100 million sales a year, every year , means exclusivity in your world? The iPhone is the Ford of the smartphone world owned by rich and poor alike... I don't want to burst your bubble but jeez.. someone needs to...

Only if you had a broader sense to understand. Cheaper smartphones are selling more not because they have the best and the latest. First it grew in Asia and now in Europe and wait until they reach America.

Wow are you for real ?

So if dear family or best friend want to video chat you, but have a Pixel 2 or Note 9, you won't because you refuse to download and install a universal app like Duo or WhatsApp ? That works great between both platforms.

Speechless that people can be that close minded or "My way or the highway" attitude, in the year 2018.

Hmm...

A majority are the same way.

I remember when Steve Jobs said that FaceTime was going to be an Open Standard. Yeah, that never happened.

Are you serious??

Family and friends see each other in real life.
For everyone else they have iPhones, macs, or iPads.
Everyone.

Where do you live?

Most of the Rich people don't buy Android and that's a fact. Just like at one time everybody used Blackberry?

Well, not everyone. Android does have 80% of the worldwide market, but yes, no one wants to download 3rd party apps for some reason. I know that if Facetime and iMessage were available for Android, I'd download them. :)

My brother lives in Spain, rest of family lives in Chicago. Family has a mix of iPhone's and Android phones. My brother has a Android phone, our Mom and iPhone. For her to video chat with her son and granddaughter, she had no choice but to install Google Duo.

You know what ? Works like a charm. Perfect.

Yeah you don't like the fact. Look at all the celebrities, 90% of them use iPhone lol. You are being delusional because just don't want to accept the real fact.

You are laughable. I know plenty of wealthy people who won't give Apple their hard earned money. I do pretty well and yes, I buy iPhones, but I won't buy any other Apple product. And I love Android because it's simply a much better software platform.

You need to come down to Earth a few "notches".
[doublepost=1537732885][/doublepost]
Haha LOL. The iPhone is an appliance no different then a refrigerator. It is not a status symbol, or something only the "rich" have.

Wow

He sounds like one who has to compensate for other shortcomings.

That’s some attitude you have there. You won’t download an app communicate with someone, but you expect them to go out and buy something to communicate with you? Sums up this thread.

I am very much on Earth and I haven't called you all poor people because you guys use Android. Now don't take it personally cause you have missed out on the fact that Rich people use iPhones. I showed you the links, go read them and understand.

I meant Android is hardly used by Rich people and if you find a link where you can show Android is used more by Rich people which means premium segment than paste it.

There's no need to get personal or judge someone or get offended lol. A fact is a fact!

Android users on Android Forum talking about why celebrity stars use iPhone

Can you say Android smartphones are in premium segment? Samsung? it's not even near Apple in that segment. Why is it so hard for you'll to believe it's for the Rich people as it falls in premium segment. If you see lot of iPhones in your country then be happy that your country is very rich. There are countries where Apple market share is losing because of the price and Chinese smartphones are gaining those share because of the price.

And that's exactly what I had said at first. It's good for the Apple when they increase their profit margin regardless of what sales they do because the premium segment of the people who are "rich" will be buying the best and Apple does deliver. So they are already no.1 in that segment, it's a win win situation for the company as they earn, it's a win win situation for the consumer as they get the top notch smartphone overall and the exclusivity. This offends you'll? lol
