I feel like any iPhone you get, you’re settling. There’s still many small things I wish my iPhone 7 Plus had. The Pixel 2 XL I’m using has one of the simplest features and Apple still can’t implement on this iPhone. When I get a call and I’m typing an email or watching a video, I don’t want the whole screen to be taken over by the call. I want that small window that will allow me to either answer or decline without stopping what I’m doing. How hard is that. It’s the small things that matter.

And there is quite a few things like this that have been on iOS and not revised or updated in years. I understand the OG iPhone from 2008 having old outdated feeling features, but it's 2018 and iOS 12 now, and still these same annoying things in iOS.

App icons not being allowed to be moved and placed anywhere you want on the screen. WTF Apple, really still? What if I want my most used apps on the bottom, just above the dock, but want no other apps on the screen, can't even do that. Unbelievable in 2018.

How are these things going unnoticed at Apple ? Just shows what a mess iOS is.

I bought a new washing mashine this week.

It has NFC technology and is able to download special programs using your phone.
The company even have an IOS and Android compatable APP.

The App only works as an instruction book with IOS. To actually use the NFC function, you can only use Android.
I asked the manufacturer why that was and they told me that Apple and ios do not allow the use of the NFC CHIP in their phones for 3rd party devices.

Really? it is 2018 ffs and My wifes Iphone can't do something my daughters 5yr old fisherprice phone can do?

The NFC is only for Apple Pay.

I guess I am worried that the Pixel 3 XL will hurt Google's stock Android line. If the Pixel 3 line tanks bad, we might not even get a Pixel 4.

I understand the feeling of disappointment this year, I have it too. I feel like next year something huge will happen with iOS 13 and the new iPhones.

Android is not for me whatsoever but I wouldn't say that. Many of the people using Androids say they'd never use an iPhone. Different strokes for different folks.
True and id NEVER say i wouldnt use the iPhone. It just isnt something i think is up to par yet with Android and possibly never will be but i wouldnt say id never get an iPhone, though it is pretty unlikely. Depends on what they do add but they are pretty slow about adding things.

I would say if you have been on Android for a several years, and haven't owned an iPhone since in a long time, it's very difficult to get used to and comfortable with iOS, it feels so jarring and frustrating in comparison, basically it just sucks today, sorry to be so blunt.

Hopefully iOS 13 is the holy grail we have been waiting for, the rumored major iOS overhaul and all new UI.

Every year they all say "hopefully this new iOS will bring big upgrades" and every year it gets minimul upgrades and most point to the faster CPU and battery life as the biggest thing they like lol. And then they show how it loads a millisecond faster than the latest Samsung like that's a big deal but disregard what it lacks compared to Android. I mean yeah.tjey finally got wireless charging (i think) but that's old news for Android.

IMO the biggest upgrade they ever got so far is bigger phones. Them older ones are horribly small. My buddies is like a toy.

And why is this not a god thing? Let someone else do the gimmicks then use the one that’s been proven to be usefully and also have a stable and faster version of the new techs to give people a better and secure phone experience. Just look at how many new gimmicks that Samsung put on their phone that at the end of the day that people just stopped using it and forgot about them?

Didn't say it wasn't good but the point is most wanted more and didn't get it but those like you are still satisfied.....though you wanted more. Then when you finally get what Android has had for years then it's great, but since you don't now your saying nobody uses those things and forgets about them

Is iMessage still a thing? Im pretty sure most of the world has moved on to services like Whatapp.
Considering how many people own iPhones, of course it is. Especially in the US. It wasn't a sticking point for me being on Android but iMessage is (in my opinion) the best messaging service.

It's right there as the default messaging service without having to encourage people to download other apps.

Really don’t like u2 but giving everyone a free album.

Not really an apt comparison of switching on a feature located in settings to a free album.

You are right. Automatically override and push and insert an album into iPhone without users prior approval is much worse.

Well that depends on logic entirely.

Override what exactly?
It’s a free album. Your confusing it with what google did by overriding system settings.

But hey free things apparently repulses you, how are your free akg headphones, btw. You didn’t like them either?

99% of my contacts use android phones and even the few iPhone users in my circle all use what’s app. So for me iMessage isn’t a thing. However maybe it depends on where you live.

This one was insane I tried getting rid of that album and it was always coming back.
It still pops up from time to time for me.

I don't get it. What's the big deal about iMessage today?

I get by just fine with my Android phone using both WhatsApp and Google Messenger. Communicating with iPhone people we both have WhatsApp and it works perfectly

Everyone I know in the UK have WhatsApp. But it’s a different story in the US. I don’t get why the above poster suggested people have moved on from iMessage. If you have an iPhone and you message other iPhone users daily, wouldn’t make sense to not use it.

I think the big deal is how well it works and only improves over time vs the hot mess that messaging with Google's messaging app of the day happens to be. It works well with all iOS devices that support messaging and works well enough when a non-iOS user is in the mix too.

To me the bigger deal is being able to message/talk on any iOS device that supports both. IOW, phone is in the bedroom I'm somewhere else in the house on a Mac or iPad and I can do both from there using the same number to/from anyone regardless whether they have iOS or Android gear. Of course you can do that a bit differently with Hangouts, but Google hasn't yet figured out what they want Hangouts for or who they want it for.

Among my family and friends I don't know of a single one that doesn't use iMessage if they are on Apple gear. A few use WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger a bit too.

If my contacts used iMessage I would use it as it makes sense. However as an iPhone user I don’t feel like I’m missing out by using what’sapp. I’m in the UK too.

The reason why I didn’t use iMessage is because I get charged for sending picture or other media and it’s 55p per message to people who don’t have iPhones.
