The reason why I didn’t use iMessage is because I get charged for sending picture or other media and it’s 55p leg message.
My brother complains about that too as he's on an Android phone and his plan doesn't have a lot of data. So if I have him on and send some media his data takes a hit and his bill goes up.

Is iMessage still a thing? Im pretty sure most of the world has moved on to services like Whatapp.

A lot of flies can usually be found on a pile of dung. But yes, it still is a thing.

For some even Facebook is still worth it.

Data isn’t free but it’s part of my package and I’ve never gone over my 30GB a month. I have unlimited WiFi at home. So I’d rather send them via what’s app than pay 55p per picture to send them via iMessage to my non iPhone user contacts.

According to what I’ve read iMessage uses cell data/WiFi to send media so I don’t understand why it would cost u more since WhatsApp also uses cell data/WiFi.

My bad, further reading shows tha media from iMessage to android uses mms. On Verizon in the us that is included as part of the unlimited talk/text. I guess in other countries that isn’t so.

It’s because if I send a photo or video to a non iPhone user in iMessage it has to go via MMS. I get charged 55p per message.

That was not a good moment. Nor was it a very good U2 song to add further insult to injury!
It was a whole album.

I wanted to add this thing even though it's not related to the topic but since we have already talked about a lot of off topic, thought I'll add this too.

Apple is on right strategy. They are no more concentrating on number of sales. They don't even mention in the keynotes anymore how much devices they sold. Also, the cheaper smartphones like OnePlus etc are good enough too.

Apple has now entered into a luxury smartphone market and that's a good thing. It definitely has a worth if you compare with old Vertu which just had top material but again a very cheap OS. Porche Design and other luxury OEMs lack quality in software as they run Android. While I don't want to debate on how clean and secure iOS is compared to Android, for that just use google and paste if you find one article saying Android is more secure and clean than iOS.

In this way, Apple not only earns and keep up with top materials and technology but also consumers who can afford it have the exclusivity. The exclusivity is very important too, specially when you pay such a high price. Consumers get top material smartphone with cutting edge technology, the most secured operating system and exclusivity.

It’s not a luxury item because most in developed countries can have one if they want to. Even people who don’t work in my country have iPhones.

I don’t think Apple have ever worried about selling the most devices but about making the most profit.

LOL no fast charger Apple, come on
Another reason I don't buy Apple products. They charge too much and don't include equipment what you need for a feature the phone has? They are such money grabbers. Amazing they have such a huge cult like following and will happily shell out the cash for the $1200 phone and then shell out more for the charger that isn't included with it.

Not just willingly shell out more cash. Some even go to the extent of defending apple's blatant greed as good for buyers.

I don't get it. What's the big deal about iMessage today?

I get by just fine with my Android phone using both WhatsApp and Google Messenger. Communicating with iPhone people we both have WhatsApp and it works perfectly
Agree, I don't even use WhatsApp and I send and receive messages just fine when sending to both Android and iPhone users. Not once has any of my iPhone user friends said.....man I wish you had iMessage because I hate that the message is green.....or whatever happens. I never used iMessage. I use Hangouts or the Samsung message app and have used the Google message app. It all works the same except I can video chat with my Wife on Hangouts. I don't care for video chatting otherwise.

Totally agreed.

It really is inexcusable to not include the fast charger, but instead charge $70 for it. After already spending $1,000+ on their phone. Just BS

As much as I am disappointed in the notch on the Pixel 3 XL, I'd take and recommend the 3 XL all day over the iPhone XS Max.

But I am very interested in seeing the OnePlus 6T @ T-Mobile

The problem I have with iMessage is that if I send myself a video from my iPhone, to my Android phone, it's always small, very pixelated and not even worth viewing. iMessage just works better and if iMessage and Facetime were cross-platform apps, I'd probably use my OnePlus 6 exclusively.

At the price tag of USD999, not everybody can buy. And USD1099 for iPhone XS Max is a sign that increasing price strategy will not go away.

If one has USD1099 they will buy for many they are happy using OnePlus and other cheap Android smartphones.

Huawei and OnePlus are not becoming popular in Europe because they are doing anything revolutionary. They're cheap that's their USP.

Again you can and should use;

- Google Duo ( Google's version of FaceTime, and is great. I use it with my Mom she has an old iPhone 6 and my Pixel 2 XL )

- WhatsApp. My brother moved to Spain, most the family is iPhone users here in the States, except me and few other Android users. We got everyone to install WhatsApp no problem, and it works very well. Full res pics, videos, etc...

In my opinion iMessage and FaceTime can no longer be a hold up to stay on iPhone or major must have apps anymore. With Duo and WhatsApp your covered now

Shouldn't have to. Do you know how difficult it is to get Apple users to download and use 3rd party apps for chat and text? I have dozens of friends who refuse to do it and I constantly hear the same from many in the Apple/iPhone circles.

Why download 3rd party apps when there are already apps that do that, that are built in. I can't say I don't disagree with them.

Asking people to download another app just doesn't work, plain and simple.

Downloading and installing Google Duo on an iPhone takes all of 30 seconds, and your done.

I text them the Duo link to install. Tell them to click the link, press install, and go through the kindergarten grade setup process which takes all of 5 seconds.

I have done that this year with a lot of family members, that are not tech people whatsoever, and they did it, and now they're very happy to be able to use a FaceTime type app between family that have iPhone + Android

There's just no excuse why people can't do this. Not everyone today is all iPhone users only, there's a ton of Android users too, especially between families. And to communicate this is what needs to be done. And it's very simple and fast.

Would that be a pink unicorn driving the maserati lol, boy you have taken over as my new favourite poster. The absolute amazing claptrap you post makes my day. 100 million sales a year, every year , means exclusivity in your world? The iPhone is the Ford of the smartphone world owned by rich and poor alike... I don't want to burst your bubble but jeez.. someone needs to...

There is no excuse, but still an overwhelming majority of people won't do it. And, like I said, I can't fault them for that. iMessage and Facetime just work better.

FaceTime works better ? Google's Duo is basically the exact same thing, and works flawlessly and easy to use. I see zero difference, except Duo can video chat between Android + iPhone, whereas FaceTime cannot.
