Don’t know why this thread was taken so seriously. Yeah, there are things out there that you wouldn’t pay for. Just because you won’t doesn’t mean you can’t afford it and just because somebody else would, they’re not crazy. It’s that simple.
Because some people take their money seriously, if you don’t then chow. When this becomes a serious machine then it could be priced as such but it’s still the side piece no matter how fast you can open an email.

Put it terms of how much you use it, and what you can do with it.

I wouldn’t call it a bargain, or even a value. But it certainly can multiply your productivity and free you from other devices as well.

OP has a point. Smart consumers are always analyzing what they could get instead for similar amount of money. For example, it's almost double the cost of a Lenovo Yoga 6 Ryzen 4700U/16GB/1TB convertible laptop/tablet with touch and pen inputs. I think if people get assurance that 2021 iPP will get MacOS that can also run iPadOS apps then it'll be less of a sting.

If someone is unimpressed with the price of an iPad and wants MacOS on it instead of iOS, they either don’t understand what the concept of an iPad is, or they’ll get a laptop for the same money anyway. I’d never spend that sort of money on a personal device anyway as it’s way over spec’d for surfing the internet in the evenings. There are plenty of decent iPad options available at most price points now and this version is likely a niche product in any case.

And you still don’t understand that you aren’t everyone.

And you are so enamored of your opinion you probably never will.

But it is still just your opinion.

And a rather childish one at that.

Cheers.

Sorry, I thought you would understand the difference between “some people” and “everyone” obviously I was wrong

I know it was a long time ago, but I thought you would remember your first post:

"Just because you have lost your mind doesn’t mean I have...seriously who would pay that price?"

I agree the iPad Pro is to expensive for what you get. The base iPad Pro should be 699 with 256gb of storage and have 2 ports for connectivity. Then if you want a magic keyboard it will put you at the base price of the MacBook Air.

$2,000 is a lot of money. I don't know how you think it is a mere pittance.

It's not a pittance and yes, $2K is a lot of money. I don't think it's an impossible amount to save up though, if one values it enough particularly if it will be used for at least 3-5 years. Especially so if one doesn't have a lot of obligations.

You have a 2020 Pro 11, 2020 MBA and iPhone 12 mini, so obviously, you can afford $2K. You just prefer to spend it on other things.

Raising kids cost far more than $2K every 3-5 years and yet millions of people do it. :p

That is true about kids. I don't have any big people wannabes but, I know I cost my parents a lot growing up. lol

I think the price tag for the specced iPad Pro would be easier for many people to come to terms with if it were on equal footing with the Mac. I think the expectation of many people for the iPad has been left unsatisfied for many years. I think Apple is slowly moving in a positive direction but, they are dragging their OS feet which causes the Developers to possibly feel like their software ability arms are tied.

Side piece will always be a side piece no matter how much money people throw away on it

Even though I can buy anything I want, I still think $2k is a lot of money. I suppose some of that is upbringing and another part of that is relative to where one lives etc.
I hear you, same as I, that’s why I think they have lost their mind for these prices but I see maybe they didn’t ..they saw them coming, like taking candy from a baby I guess

It's not a "side piece" for everyone. But it seems you cannot fathom that. It's ok that you can't understand these things.

And thank you. This is great entertainment.

At least for me, I have no interest in Macs. Neither do I care about Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro nor Xcode. I just don't use them. ?‍♀️

I use iPads a lot and while I do wish for improved functionality and refining, I don't necessarily need them to turn into Macs. While I'm okay spending $2K on an iPad, I actually don't think I'd be willing to buy a $2K Mac.

From what I know of your posts, you keep your Apple toys a long time. And as much as you use an iPad, I can see why you are ok with the price tag. I hope we see a lot of solid reasons with iPadOS 15 in a few weeks.

I think I might actually return the 2021 12.9 1TB 5G for an Apple certified refurb 2018 1TB LTE (already ordered). Mini-LED's been giving me headaches. ???

Oh well, saves me $900 and AC+ is a bit cheaper.

Yeah I agree with others it's not really a question of whether you can afford $2k, it's a matter of what else could you do with that money that would serve you better value across the board. If you don't absolutely need a touch screen or pen input for example, and can live without a tablet, the MBA M1 is clearly the superior value. Then you can buy an iPad Air, have two devices, and pay about the same as you would've for the 12.9 iPP w/ magic kb and 256GB storage.

It's like when people in a tongue-in-cheek way tell ppl complaining about the increased weight to hit the gym, well it really has nothing to do with the device being too heavy to carry around, it's just that alternatives exist that are much more portable and you can't ignore them.

Which is better boils down to personal preference and usage though. I have the M1 MBA and it's not a better value for me for the simple fact that it's been sitting unused in its bag for months while I use the 2017 Pros and Air 3 daily.

For sure more regret and justification for high $ threads other than happy threads...I’m curious..is it peer pressure or influence that makes people pay more for things they regret or self discipline?
How do you figure? Anyone who bought can return it for a refund within 2 weeks if they regretted it.
