Even funnier when people think they are a pro product cause the dev said so and buy because they said so..lol

I buy iPads primarily for entertainment so I couldn't really care less if it's called Pro. I care about the features that will benefit my usage. In my case, 1TB and 5G. 16GB RAM was an unexpected bonus, granted one that cost $200 extra.

Heck, I know people who spend $200+/month on their cable bill. That's like $2,400 per year or $7,200 for 3 years. The iPad provides me with more entertainment value than a cable TV subscription.

I totally disagree - it's worthy of the "pro" title for reasons of the product's own merits (and this is likely why you were looking at it in the first place), but I'm still wondering why you're complaining. Just buy the regular iPad or iPad Air. You have options.

So, unless someone buys everything entry level, bottom line product, they are wasting their money and being scammed? That is the most idiotic way of thinking I have ever heard. Just because you can’t justify the price or don’t have the income for it, doesn’t mean everyone is getting scammed for not getting the basic version. Some people want the Lamborghini experience with Camry money.

I don’t think it is that bad... It’s a 1TB ipad with 16GB of ram.

I bought a OG ipad pro 11” with 1TB/6GB of ram. They were like $1,700!

So the 11” 1TB/16GB M1 iPad Pro is only $1699 wifi/cellular.

And apple care can be setup monthly as like $5 bucks right? Or not at all lol.

The OP is adding $300 for no reason.

Please elaborate with examples of this functionality. I’m interested as the S7/S7+ caught my eye.

I know I'm not the member you were speaking to, but I had owned the S6 since release and currently own the S7... of course, I also own an iPad Pro 2020 and have an M1 on the way.

Regarding the functionality of the S7 (and I know I've mentioned this before here on this forum) the stigma of Android is the only real hurdle left. The Tab S7 (and S6) are incredible pieces of hardware. The machine work is as good as Apples, the screens are as good as Apples, especially the new S7 with the 120hz panel and 9ms input response, trust me, it feels every bit a flagship product and would surprise any iPad Pro owner with how nice it is.

Regarding the OS, Android 11 is very well refined, not as refined as iPad OS, but it's close enough for 95% of users once you learned the idiosyncrasies.

Software is there now, depending on your use cases, the old days of all Android tablet applications just being phone software blown up is gone, there are plenty of applications that know the differences between the devices and provide a very well rounded tablet experience.

I use Procreate mostly on my iPad Pro, which Android doesn't have, but Android has Krita, the full desktop version and in many ways is more powerful than Procreate, I use that extensively. I also use Concepts almost exclusively on the S7, even though I have it on the iPad Pro as well, not sure why I just enjoy the Android experience better.

File management on the S7 is a desktop experience, web browsing is a desktop experience, media consumption is a desktop experience.

I LOVE my iPad Pro(s) dearly, but I also love my S7 and if I was unable to own an iPad Pro I'd be perfectly content using only my S7... hell, if not for Procreate, I might.

I think of it like this, a peerage, the iPad Pro is the duke, without a doubt. The Tab S6 was an earl... and the new Tab S7 is easily a marquess... it's getting close and if Samsung keeps innovating we're likely to have two dukes in the tablet world.

No one said you have to buy one. Vote with your wallet.
I always vote with my wallet...my wallets life matters. Like I said in the beginning...just because someone has lost their mind doesn’t make me lose mine.

Then what exactly was your point?

It is clear that the value proposition didn’t make sense for you.

That doesn’t mean it doesn’t make sense for everyone, as many in this thread have clearly indicated.

Was it just to insult anyone and everyone who doesn’t agree with you?

Cheers

I get why some might find it overpriced and others will jump at the chance to buy a premium device. Same reason some people will buy a Toyota and some will up-spend and get a Lexus. But the need to start a thread and bash people for losing their mind because they don't agree with the OP is sadly the world we live in.

Even sadder when simple words weren’t read then became twisted ...but like you said sadly that’s the world we live in. So only just a few here think that Apple hasn’t taken advantage of today circumstances at all?
Does anyone know what Apples profit was last year? Or did they stop reporting like for quarterly sales?

Apple is definitely profiting very well currently, but they won't offer any discounts for it. They've managed to carve out proper market niches that are working well for them and I expect it to continue.

Should people pay the prices? That's up to each individual. With the lasting power (and resale value) of Apple hardware it is possible to argue you're getting a lower TCO compared to competing products, but I haven't done the math on that. I think the top end iPP isn't targeted to consumers so much as targeted toward the professional market where their employer is paying for them. $2K for an iPad is a lot for a consumer, but peanuts for a business.

Obviously, some die hard Apple fans will buy the most expensive one just because... But that's reflective of our hyper consumer culture.

As rui no onna has pointed out in other threads... Higher tier storage models don't hold resale value well though. So if you're buying smart you buy the smallest Apple product that meets your needs and only when your needs aren't being met.

This will be my first ever ipad.
I bought the 2 TB version. No cellular. 12.9"

I am going to draw on it and if possible 3d sculpting.

I am not upgrading until it breaks. That's my reasons for getting this expensive device.

Haven't read every post in this thread to know which one(s) you are referring to, but re-reading a few of your posts, I'm not sure how anything posted twisted your words. Why does it bother you so much that people are willing to pay a premium or that Apple makes a lot of money? That is a genuine question, not a snarky troll comment. Does it bother you that people buy a Lexus instead of a Toyota? They are just cars after all and if you just have to drive to the grocery store, why spend that extra $30 grand on a car.

I admire this... first iPad purchase and you went ALL IN, I like it! ?
I bought the macbook mini with the m1 16gm of ram. I went from 1 hour to edit my videos to 5 minutes. Granted my pc was old, but I thoroughly enjoyed the trackpad, price, experience, and performance. So I went all in, because i trusted the desktop experience.

Yeah I probably shouldn't have spent that much. I just love the iPad and I use it a ton when I'm not working on my Mac during the day. But I also didn't get the cellular model. I'm also kinda hoping that they do macOS Lite on the iPad Pro when using a mouse and keyboard. The 11" doesn't seem worth it compared to the 12.9", which is why I went for that model because of the new display tech. I also use the FaceTime camera all the time on the iPad so having the new wide camera that does tracking is amazing.

For me, a big ripoff is the magic whatever the hell it's called with the trackpad and keyboard. The keyboard sucks, the trackpad is small, and it's like $300. I ordered the new Brydge keyboard trackpad thing. It magnetically attaches quickly now, it has a big trackpad, a much better keyboard that is also backlit, supposedly doesn't tip over awkwardly or have issues balancing, it's a matched space gray or regular aluminum, and it's $50 cheaper.

If you just want a tablet, the regular iPad or even better the iPad Air are incredible value. If you don’t have use for Apple’s top of the line chip, 16GB RAM, 1TB internal storage and cellular connection because you aren’t using it for whatever niche professional tablet workflow you can make use of such a beast — don’t get it. If you need top specs, you pay top money. For most people even the iPad Air with A14 chip is overpowered for what they use it as. The few people who legitimately need an iPad Pro with those specs will use it for their work and make the money back easily.
It’s not a consumer device and it’s not named or priced as a consumer device. The people who would pay that, need it or can afford it easily. Everybody else can get a great device with the iPad Air or regular iPad or previous generation Pros ?‍♀️

It has a mini-LED display that’s got better specs than the OLED screens on iPhones.
Mini LED TVs are simply the latest flavour of LCD panel, just with a more advanced backlight. ... But as a self-emissive technology in which light is generated by the pixel itself, OLED does have clearly superior viewing angles to an LCD technology, including Mini LED

I would rather have OLED...Pro model should have the best, it was less profit by putting in is the report.

Good points, a lot of people here are biased against Android tablets but they rarely have hands-on knowledge of the current flagships.... The "blown up phone apps" is a huge exaggeration. Basically all Microsoft and Google apps are as good as iPad ones, great note taking apps too.
Having said that, owing both the pro and the S7+, there are some pros and cons against iPads:
Pros:
lighter and as big as the 12.9 for videos (thanks to aspect ratio)
OLED
better sound (if someone says otherwise it's because they haven't enable Dolby atoms)
great magnetic kickstand
DEX destroys the iPad for multitasking / external monitor (at least until iPadOS 15)

Cons:
total lack of palm rejection
trackpad not great
pen feels too light
aspect ratio makes it the best for video watching but not the best for reading
lacks pro video editing and music apps
lacks some iPad accessibility features
USB C is only 5Gb/s

I get where Apple is coming from in terms of pricing on this: it wants the iPad Pro to be a laptop equivalent and priced accordingly.

At the prices being asked, it's not worth it for me - I don't use an iPad like a laptop, it's an adjunct to one. However I picked up a new old stock 2018 iPad Pro for a good price and that suits me fine. I think either that or an iPad Air is where you go if you are not looking for the 'ultimate' in performance.

Apple's pricing generally is a mixture of very smart and weirdly outlandish.

Things like the MacBook Air and iPad Air are well priced (save for some upgrade prices)

But then you have the Pro Display monitor stand as the most bonkers piece of pricing I can think of from a major manufacturer in a long time. And the Mac Pro wheels follow closely behind...

This feels like somewhere in the middle!
