I think I'll chime in here, the way I see it is once the iPhone 6 comes out or what ever name Apple would like to stamp it with, this article will turn into, "how Samsung needs to be more like Apple" because if the leaks are accurate than Samsung is in for a world of pain once a large screen iPhone comes out and the new processor from apple is released IMO

It will take a lot more than a large screen and new processor to lure me back to Apple from my SGS5 (I have had iPhone's 3GS, 4, 4S and 5). Apple still has some way to go to catch up to the functionality of the latest Android phones.

Many people "chiming in here" have obviously never owned or used an up to date flagship Android phone, If they had there would be less mis-information and in some cases rubbish, typed in this thread.

Good response, I couldn't agree more. Especially the part about the a7. Most people do not understand the importance of it.

However at the moment there is no real world usage for the A7. As for RAM, 1GB is more than enough on an iPhone. I think android devices need at least 2 GB. I don't want things just for the sake of it. 2GB is more than enough for the S5. It doesn't need 3GB.

Haha. Yes. Only in Macrumors can anyone come and say the 3Gs was fine on iOS 4.

You couldn't even type on it. I remember it vividly. The problem was so bad apple was SUED for it.

It was garbage. So much lag. When they finally fixed the speed of the OS in general, they completely screwed up the camera app so it took longer to open the app (even if it was already open in the background) than it took to take the photo you wanted to.

You all put the Apple logo at the end of your comments. Cute. :)

Ok...my turn! :D

Third party keyboard support. Predictive text. Larger screen size. And more. Guess who had all that before Apple? ;)

You're move!

"shamesung" What are you 12?

Guaranteed if Apple came up with that, iPhone users who be raving about it. So since it wasn't Apple's idea, it's just a gimmick to you.

Riiight, if you say so...

Marketing is a very powerful thing. And Apple's damn good at it.

Stopped taking you seriously as soon as I read that.

World of pain? lol oh you guys are funny. :D

Was it Palm One? I clearly remember buying 3rd party Bluetooth and plug in keyboards way before iOS. In fact, I still have some and use them with my iPhone. I could use them back in 2009.

You are so incorrect. The 3GS performed very well on iOS 4.

It's the iPhone 3G which had major issues on ios4.

The 3GS had 256mb ram and it performed pretty well on ios5 as well. The iPhone 3G was a different story.

The iPhone 3G was basically a glorified iPhone 2007 with gps and 3G connection. It had same processor and cmaeta and 128mb ram as the original 2007 iPhone.

See the wiki. Software and applications always lag hardware. Intel in hindsight created a revolution with their first release of the Core I7 chips in 2008. Back then I might have said there is no real world usage for the I7.

One of the noted pluses for 64 bit in the article I linked was the benefit of encryption software. Something the iphone should be doing heavily at this point.

While you still might say there is no benefit to me, the end-user, that would be a fair statement; however such as that with a lot of things in life technologically, little incremental improvements over a long period of time.

How exactly do samsung need to be like Apple. Anything Apple do with the iPhone 6, i. e larger screen, a lot of the features in ios 8 are things that Samsung (android) have been doing for years. However I'm sure the Apple zealots will be screaming innovation and copycat from the rooftops :)
In not saying they do, I never referred to Samsungs lame ass features. I was STATING that the tables will turn when apple releases their new phone because it happens every year people compare on both sides of the table it is just a back and forth argument, apple will release something that Samsung didn't and then samsung will in turn release something apple didnt sonthrsr artivlrd eill ne going back and forth about wich one did what etc and I have to ask YOU MAD BRO

world of pain? apple needs to do alot more than just a bigger screen to make samsung to be in pain. Apple needs to start adding alot more features to make me and many others go back that route. Widgets for one....

Which made my iPhone 4s unusable after iOS 7. They did the same to iPhone 3Gs owners with iOS 4 and after they fixed it, their iPhone were never the same. To make people buy new phones. Ruined by updates.

What's the oldest Android device that can run kitkat? How many devices does a single Android smartphone manufacturer make?

Who makes people buy new phones again?

I agree they do, but the numbers don't lie every year they sell the newest iPhone they sell big outselling almost any other manufacture, now that Apple will have a competing screen size possibly, I stick to my statement a lot of major Android manufactures who think that 7 inch phones are a good idea is absolutely dumb, widgets are just ehh just extra eye candy.

Depends if you use them

I have 11 on my phone

Weather widget
Battery widget
Cbs sports news and scores
Calendar
Football news and scores
Google search
Music and alarm widget

So yes I couldn't do without them now. I think they are very important to many.

Apple sales will be huge. No doubt about that. The fact they release one type of phone once a year plays a factor in that. While Samsung for example have two main flagships plus a bunch of other mid range phones.

Apparently you have never used widgets?

Im using whole size calender to check my work things at once (a month). Daily events to see where and when I need to be. Email, Wheather widgets. Tasks, Contacts, News, Forums stuff.. I can run those widgets also in my watch (Sony SW2 with Remote widgets app) if necessary so I dont need to take my Note from a bag.

Same widgets are also used in my android tv box, so I dont need my phone to check emails for example..

My phone size is 10.1 inches (N8000) so there is a huge advantage to use widgets to make life much easier...

We don't need widgets to check our calendars, when there is a calendar app sitting right there. Boom!

That sounds cool, but reminds me alot the time living with win3.11 on 1990. But hey, im living now the year 2014. So good luck with several openings for each apps to see something else than icons..

I like Apples calendar app in ios8, but you can also see the merits of a widget (or at least Apple has, since calendar was added as an additional widget for notification center in ios8.)

Although I prefer the 3rd option. Live tile.

Cameras overall are fine these days and really don't need improvement to accomplish their intended use. Point and snap photos.

If your needs demand a better camera (in any phone) then you should probably consider investing in a dslr camera.

We don't need a guide on TV to tell us what's on different channels, we can just waste time tuning into each one and seeing what's on.

That doesn't make sense. Widgets are memory and battery hogs.

Please enlighten us on your ability to break down Linux code. Or define what constitutes a memory or battery 'hog'? Because you do realize every single app ever made is both a memory and battery hog in some way.

Or maybe you haven't realized yet that Apple has had sandboxes widgets for a few years now? And every single one of those widgets eats RAM and battery. As does each of those nice little red circles in the top right hand corner of app icons on the ios home screen when there is a notification or update to it.

Or maybe you just choose to bad mouth an OS you don't know anything about simply because it isn't made by Apple? It is fine if you hate Android, but don't opinionate and expect anyone to take what you say as fact.
