What I can guarantee is the wallpaper is from the 10.5…

Nice! No visible fingerprint sensor.... hmm...

Eh... I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss it. Apple might just introduce the under-the-screen fingerprint scanner with the 10.5" iPad, which would be awesome.

I agree that would be amazing, but I would speculate that Apple would want to save the debut of an under the screen scanner for the iPhone--since it would be a media sensation.

On the other hand, rumor has it that Samsung might release try it with the Galaxy Note which may debut just before the iPhone--so that *could* justify an iPad introduction so that Samsung doesn't have the chance to completely steal the thunder.

Then again, everyone might just call it a day and put all the fingerprint sensors on the backs of their devices.

I know someone who sells smart cover,he says the cover size of 10.5 is obviously bigger...

So this is not right?
"That comports with what IHS Markit analyst Rhoda Alexander told me earlier this year. So, basically a 10.5-inch iPad Pro in a 9.7-inch body — sans the bigger bezels of the current 9.7 incher.

“You end up with a unit that’s the same physical size as the 9.7-inch,” Alexander told me at that time. That means accessories like the Smart Keyboard can be used with the 10.5-inch iPad Pro. Alexander said previously that production had begun on the 10.5-inch iPad Pro but the release date was murky.""

Now I confirm that 10.5 pro has a home button like other ipads,so if the photo in #274 is a real thing, the home button in it must have been erased

P.S. The wallpaper is from the latest beta of 10.3.3,but it is born for the 10.5 pro(There are three styles of this wallpaper, which means the 10.5 pro is likely to have three color types)

I just learned about the wallpapers, that's essentially Apple confirming it for us :D Apple doesn't just randomly add in wallpapers at the end of iOS lifetime

Yep, that's what got me going as they use the new wallpapers for marketing etc.
I downloaded them they are really nice, I love this color pallete and look forward to see if iOS 11 tweaks any ui. I'm begginging to think iOS 11, is going to be like iOS 6 in that it adds some much needed features while optimizing the OS to its peak, then iOS 12 will see something radical in terms of features and possibly design, although I like ios and don't think they need to change the design anymore other then minor tweaking

So this is not right?

It's not right
The 10.5 pro is a little wider and much longer

No No the 10.5 inch iPad Pro is supposed to fit the screen into the physical body of the current 9.7 inch Pro, hence the new Edge to Edge display, unless I'm missing something but I heard it wasn't supposed to actually become a larger iPad

No one credible has suggested it would be the same physical size as 9.7" iPad Pro.

Ming-Chi Kuo said five months ago the new iPad would have a "narrow bezel design." Some people have confused that with "bezel-less" and now "Edge to Edge." It's like a game of telephone.

How is it confirming it for us? I've missed something here. They are wallpapers for the 12.9" iPad Pro I believe.

The new 10.5 inch iPad would have the 12.9inch resolution, and Apple never just adds new wallpapers for already released devices in the middle of an iOS release. See it now, the new 10.5 iPad is going to launch obviously they cant say because of that but the dots are sitting there and I'm connecting them and so are many others

Ok, I didn't know that. So it seems like these rumours are true we are going to see a 10.5" iPad Pro at WWDC along with new MacBook Pro minor updates and an updated 12" MacBook as well as a Siri speaker, WOW WWDC is going to be so busy with all the software and hardware announcements!

What I can guarantee is the wallpaper is from the 10.5…
I quickly compared the size of the interface elements with the iPad Pro 9.7" and it appears that the above iPad has the same or similar PPI as the 9.7" iPads. It doesn't look like an iPad Pro 12.9" interface, which was a possibility speculated from the display size.

Assuming the photo is real…

That supports the claim made by Forbes in this rumor that the iPad Pro 10.5" will have a resolution of 2224x1668 (assuming it is not displaying a scaled resolution) and a PPI of 264.

It may still be possible for both rumors/speculations to be correct in a way, since the 10.5" size could have been chosen so that its width is the same as the height of the iPad mini, but then the resolution was chosen with 264 PPI. There is also the possibility that the physical resolution is 2224x1668 but the interface is rendered at 2732x2048.

Interestingly, in that case the numbers actually don't quite match up:
  • Starting from a 7.90" display, 7.90" x (4/3) = 10.53" and at 264 PPI results in 2224x1668 (to the nearest even numbers).
  • The iPad mini's display is 7.85", and 7.85" x (4/3) = 10.47" and at 264 PPI results in ~2212x1658.
[Note: this does not mean the 2224x1668 resolution was calculated for the Forbes article.] A 10.53" display with the interface rendered at 2732x2048 gives an "interface PPI" of 324. But if the iPad Pro 10.5" doesn't share the PPI and interface element sizes of the iPad mini, then it may not need to have its width exactly the same as the height of the iPad mini. Also, rumored iDevice display resolutions can seem unusual, so I do think 2224x1668 is plausible (even if the photo is fake).

WWDC is less than a month away.... IMO no point speculating, let's just wait and see what happens. The iPad 10.5" is now very likely to happen given the sharp increase in rumors.

Why wouldnt this photo be real, my iphone 7+ has bezels just like that, almost nonexistent on the sides. Course it does have a Home Button, but a nice experience to touch. So Apple has already released that technology so why not put that in the 10.5", a few spec bumps to increase the buyability and boost ipad sales over the summer with a WWDC announcement. Save the big upgrade for the 12.9" in the fall that is going to make use of the IPP elements in IOS 11

A question: Did owners of the last iPADs (like Air 2, and pro line) notice a wear- off of the anti-reflective coating? By the stylus or just useage? I read sth like that, but didn't find user reports that confirm the effect.

Thank you...

My Air 2 other than some scratches and minuscule cracks screen is fine no wearing down of the AR coating

if they are struggling or struggled to get it on the next iPhone no chance they will have it in the next iPad
