What I can guarantee is the wallpaper is from the 10.5…

And you can guarante this? I'll call BS on that. Besides, this looks like a badly photoshopped picture to me. But sure, guarantee ahead.

No No the 10.5 inch iPad Pro is supposed to fit the screen into the physical body of the current 9.7 inch Pro, hence the new Edge to Edge display, unless I'm missing something but I heard it wasn't supposed to actually become a larger iPad

Hey real quick gotta know Touch ID 2 or 1?
No news about this,IMO Apple should give 10.5 Pro and new 12.9 Pro Touch ID 2 to deserve the name of Pro

P.S. Trust me please, the 10.5 Pro should be a bigger guy

Do you know if the Home button is a physical button or solid state like on the iPhone 7?
Never seen news about this ,so I don't think it would be a solid state button

I quickly compared the size of the interface elements with the iPad Pro 9.7" and it appears that the above iPad has the same or similar PPI as the 9.7" iPads. It doesn't look like an iPad Pro 12.9" interface, which was a possibility speculated from the display size.

Assuming the photo is real…

That supports the claim made by Forbes in this rumor that the iPad Pro 10.5" will have a resolution of 2224x1668 (assuming it is not displaying a scaled resolution) and a PPI of 264.

It may still be possible for both rumors/speculations to be correct in a way, since the 10.5" size could have been chosen so that its width is the same as the height of the iPad mini, but then the resolution was chosen with 264 PPI. There is also the possibility that the physical resolution is 2224x1668 but the interface is rendered at 2732x2048.

Interestingly, in that case the numbers actually don't quite match up:
  • Starting from a 7.90" display, 7.90" x (4/3) = 10.53" and at 264 PPI results in 2224x1668 (to the nearest even numbers).
  • The iPad mini's display is 7.85", and 7.85" x (4/3) = 10.47" and at 264 PPI results in ~2212x1658.
[Note: this does not mean the 2224x1668 resolution was calculated for the Forbes article.] A 10.53" display with the interface rendered at 2732x2048 gives an "interface PPI" of 324. But if the iPad Pro 10.5" doesn't share the PPI and interface element sizes of the iPad mini, then it may not need to have its width exactly the same as the height of the iPad mini. Also, rumored iDevice display resolutions can seem unusual, so I do think 2224x1668 is plausible (even if the photo is fake).
The guy I receive messages from says 10.5 Pro may have the same ppi as 9.7 iPads, but he can't be sure

How do wallpapers confirm it will be announced at WWDC? if they do introduce this new 10.5" iPad Pro at WWDC I also wonder f they will also update the 12.9" version as well even if it's just with new internals. I get that that the wallpapers are for the 12.9" iPad Pro and that's why I don't get people saying that it confirms the 10.5" version being announced at WWDC.

I now think no solid state button makes more sense. I think there's a certain association between a solid state Home button and a 3D Touch display. If the iPad has the former but not the latter, then people may wonder why the entire display doesn't have 3D Touch functionality when the Home button does.

If they can't get 3D Touch working properly on an iPad sized screen (I am assuming challenges here), then they should still at least upgrade the touch ID. Current technology allows for it so I don't see why you wouldn't. It's pretty lame that it doesn't have it as is.

FYI: The 12.9 model here in UK is shipped in 1-2 weeks (any config), while the 9.7 is available in 24 hrs. No idea how long has it been this way, but I just checked.

There have been lots of rumors about 10.5 inch ipads that are being produced right now. They have what over 500,000 already hoping to do 600,000 by july. What have we heard about the 12.9 being produced. absolutely no rumors whatsoever about them being produced right now unlike the 10.5. Could that mean that it hasn't leaked. maybe. I believe it's more grim then that. We wont see a 12.9 at least for several months while they make them. Maybe when we start seeing leaks about the 12.9 inch being produced it would be a better time to speculate when it will be released.

If there's an update to the 12.9 it will be internal so I don't think it would be out of place to not hear anything. An updated processor isn't going to draw much attention.

I'd actually prefer if they come out with the 10.5 first. I'm not quite ready to upgrade to the new 12.9, and remember that whichever one comes out first will probably have fewer features than that which comes out later, as we saw with the 12.9 Pro vs 9.7 Pro. Wait another 6 months and then give me a fully updated 12.9 flagship iPad that has the most features of any of the iPads.

I mentioned this a few posts back... The 12.9 is getting short in stores too, depending on config

Totally agree! The people making them probably don't even realise they've changed...

3D Touch is the one feature I would like to see on the new iPad if they release one. Although, Tim Cook quoted that implementing 3D Touch was very difficult when the iPhone 6s launched. So I question if it would be feasible on a larger display.

That said, having 3D Touch on a larger display such as the iPad, would be hugely beneficial when using peak/pop to shortcut an application versus reaching across the display. And it's just more convenient to access the shortcut that you desire versus opening up the whole application as a whole. I use 3D Touch all the time and that's one of my favorite features when iPhone 6s did launch.

Its been like this since Jan/Feb, when it first happened we all thought March update. Sadly not the case.

Ooooooooh, a vertical camera alignment on the 12.9

Hope the front doesn't change though as I have one of those PaperLike screen protectors on it's way next month...

Happy to see these! Will be purchasing a 10.5 as soon as available.

I can't say how accurate or legitimate they are, i only saw them on Twitter by someone who leaks Apple stuff. They are case's and not the actual iPad's so i don't know how accurate that makes them.

Just drooling at the thought of a refreshed 12.9...

I'm looking forward to seeing both the 10.5" and the 12.9" it's interesting that they seem to have a vertical camera cut out, not sure if that points to a dual lens camera as well? because by looking at the size of the cutout it seems bigger than the standard camera.

I'm guessing either dual camera, or camera and flash?

Not happening, there is a reason why I have got rid of both my big and small ipad pros. I quite frankly got bored. There were no major software updates, no trackpad support, and many limitations. The Samsung Chromebook Plus gave me everything I wanted so I switched to that. If Apple actually can re-engineer there ipad software and give me trackpad support and a real file manager, I may come back but for now its a no go................

and you look thru his hardware signature and it's like all Samsung gear. Makes you wonder why he even visits this site.

Go find a SamsungRumors.com site and enjoy yourself more...
