talking about POS...reminds me of the macbook air I have which you can hear the whirring sound of the cooling fan across the room.

Yeah, i had a late 09 27" iMac that was a great heater:eek: Good thing though after 4 years use i got back nearly half what i paid new.

Just had a screen replaced on my 1 year old 15" MBPr under warranty for creaky hinges.

Had a HD replaced in a late 09 21" imac not under warranty, but they replaced the screen on it for free, way out of warranty.

iPad replaced for screen bleed.

Never had a problem with iPhones yet, and we have 3 now and 6 previous.

Its a lottery :)

I really like Apple and have many products.

But the iPhone is just getting so stupidly expensive that I'm struggling to justify going back to it from Android.

Well android is cheap, and with Motorola it's getting even cheaper.

I actually picked up a cheap Moto G for a holiday recently, it really surprised me. Incredible phone for that price.

Haha I knew you were talking about moto.
I think the moto g is a terrible phone, irregardless of price.

Apple already lost me on phones. I liked my iPhone 4, but every update did nothing but add an extra icon I couldn't delete and make it slower overall. The antenna issues didn't help either. Finally the screen broke because I'm an angry mofo and I threw it at somebody once.

Having later used both Windows Phone and the new BB10 based BlackBerry devices, I certainly prefer their hardware and software over the iPhone. I like having the freedom of being able to customize the software and the freedom to internally expand my phone storage. I also prefer hardware keyboards over software ones, I can type much much faster with actual buttons in front of me which helps a big deal.

I can't say anything for Android devices, I've yet to really use one. But I've heard both good and bad things about them.

It's very thick, no lte, lousy reception, crappy camera.
Price doesn't excuse the g's shortcomings for me.

The updated Moto G will have LTE, be splash resistant, micro-SD, 4.4.3 etc etc.

I do agree the camera isn't amazing and yes it's quite a thick phone. But at that point you have to factor in the low, low price.

Apple isn't losing me per say. I'm a tried and true apple fan, but I do look for a tool that best fits my needs. For phones, the iPhone is a great product, but I wanted a larger phone. To date that meant excluding the iPhone.

As it stands now, I'm on the WP platform and I'm liking what it has to offer. I prefer to avoid Google services and apps that I use on my phone fit my needs, just as the iPhone did.

But for me and a lot of consumers, just because it's cheap does not discount the g's shortcomings.

Disagree. There is everything wrong with windows 8. It's dreadful!

I agree with this 100% what a disaster, thanks Steve screw up Windows then leave (nice).

I like one other sold my 5s and got the G2. Its mainly the screen size of the iPhone that bothers me. Once the 5.5" drops I hope to be fully satisfied.

You're probably not the target consumer.

It's really for teenagers, emerging markets, people like my Dad, a cheap but capable travel phone etc.

I just heard that widgets are only available on the Notification Screen???? To me, that defeats the purpose of having widgets.

The iOS widgets available in iOS 8 seem to have a more limited functionality than Android widgets. The impression I get from the iOS 8 announcement is that the widgets available for for a more specific purpose than Android widgets. If iOS widgets are to appear only in the notification screen, then these widgets' purpose is primarily to display some summary or specific information. This seems to be how Apple chooses to implement widgets at this time.

What a half-baked idea. I wonder what kept Apple from a usable implementation of widgets.

I would say that the widgets that will be available on iOS 8 would still be usable. They just don't have the flexibility of widgets available on Android. Perhaps later versions of iOS will have widgets that do more than those in iOS 8.

Apple is losing me, too

Apple is losing me …

… How many of you share my feeling ?
What do you think about this ?

Mac

Yosemite causes me to abandon OS X – abandonment after more than two decades of enjoying, supporting and promoting Apple software for Mac hardware.

iPhone and iPad

I planned to get a more modern iPhone, but Yosemite has almost completely destroyed the confidence that I once had in Apple's integrity. And so my first iPhone will be my last.

Destruction of confidence, abandonment of essential human interface guidelines, and so on.

Plans to purchase an iPhone, thoughts of purchasing an iPad for myself: all gone.

I really enjoy Apple computers and iPads but they've lost me with the iPhone. Much prefer the flexibility of the android experience. There would have to be something pretty spectacular to make me buy the iPhone 6 over Note 4.

My wife is testing Yosemite now on her MBP and she is thoroughly impressed with it so far. Myself too. I love the flatness of it and how it is starting to tie in with the way iOS looks. This might be simply a subjective opinion but I think Apple are going in the right direction. People cry from every tower when Apple don't change stuff and when they do it's the end of the world because it hasn't changed the way they personally wanted it to. When you consider Windows 8 or soon 9 look, Yosemite is like a Monet lol. I'm just sad I have to use PC in my line of work.

For Windows 8, I agree. But I don't want Microsoft Windows. I wanted OS X.

Not me.

and when they do it's the end of the world

I think not.

because it hasn't changed the way they personally wanted it to.

That's not the case with me.

Apple's closed approach has helped them in some respects and hurt them in others. I think both platforms are good, and offer their own set of advantages/disadvantages. I don't think there's a wrong answer. Pick the platform that best meets your needs.

Well said. Get what works best for you, and let others do the same.
