Just so everyone knows, we're providing coverage over at http://cunning.tv/

This time, our coverage will be more professional than last time ;) :apple:

Anyway, I think since we just had an iPod Event, we'll see International iPhones and a new product in the MacBook line (ultraportable) and maybe a one more thing...

OK the next person to complain about 'this' or 'that' network will get a slap...Ok well maybe a stern talking to...alright well maybe I'll just mutter some profanity quietly...

Its a fact of life that everyones had a bad experience with a network and it doesn't matter which it is. Also Its ridiculous to claim in a sweeping statement that O2/Vodafone/Orange/3/T-Mobile/Virgin are the worst company because you had a tiff with one. I had a bad experience with Orange but that doesn't make them married to satan.

Just my opinion but thats why its called a 'forum' i suppose.

Dunno if this is relevant but Orange just sent me the following. I reckon they've done this in response to tomorrows predicted announcement with O2 & Apple, you know similar to the way Microsoft dropped the price of their Zune before the iPod Announcement.

we’ve given the mobile internet a lick of paint, sample it today

The mobile internet’s now bigger and better than ever. So give it a try – whatever you’re into, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

You’ve now got your own Orange World homepage, where you’ll find loads of handy stuff. You can see what’s new, check your account details, search the internet and more.
You’ll also find all your favourite sites like eBay, the BBC, Amazon and Sky Sports. And, if you’re not already set up with one, why not choose one of our money-saving bundles:

£1 daily bundle for full access, all day*
£5 weekly bundle for full access anytime*
£8 monthly bundle for full access anytime (up to 30MB a month)*

Call 150 or go to Your Account from your homepage to set up a bundle.

£1 a day is still £30 a month though. Ouch.
I think 02's data charges will drop when the iPhone comes out.

It's not the Apple Way...

VERY SAD, This is one Apple product i will not be buying. The reason, it going to be on O2:mad:, Will not be changing network provider i have been with for 10 years. Jobs and co need to rethink this policy and let all the network have it. O2 do not even have edge. And lets not even go 3G, Its a pile of poo on all networks.

Apple won't sell a "crippled" product just so it can be more widely available. They control the user experience as much as possible, so eliminating Visual Voice Mail, for instance, is not something they would do just so you can get the phone to work on any network. Surely this is not a surprise to you, is it?

Not all the carriers will go to the great expense of modifying their system to accommodate VVM, and not all of them want to share income with Apple either. In the US Verizon turned Apple down before an agreement was reached with ATT.

And by the way, a vast majority of iPhone users in the US have been very satisfied with the phone AS IS, and not many are bailing out on ATT despite the rhetoric prior to launch.

Pathetic. That should be upto 30GB not MB (ok I jest but you get the point).

If O2 try that then I can't see that many iPhone sales happening apart from the initial sales boom. Those rates would put me off.

Only T-Mobile seem to be going with mobile internet (and possibly 3) at the moment.

Frankly, in principle, I agree. Apple has been a closed company from the beginning. You can only run OS X on a mac. And with good reason--it has let to a good product. If/When I get an iPhone, I want a carrier to fully support it, and in many ways Apple's ridiculous control freak tendencies about the iPhone are to make sure you enjoy it. Still, I will unlock mine, and try to keep it that way. Why? I want to be able to use it when I travel between the US, the Caribbean, and through Europe. I should get to choose when I want to roam and when I want to purchase a local carrier's SIM card. I hope that someday Apple recognises this as being the main utility of an unlocked phone, not "ZOMG buying a phone and screwing ATT/O2/whatever just on principle".

If Apple haven't managed to snag an unlimited data deal, it's not a matter of if, but how much their stock will plummet by. MBs cost ABSUUUUUUUUUURD amounts in Europe right now, this is one area Apple could actually pioneer in our market.

Funny. I looked at the iPhone and preferred the Blackberry Pearl. The blackberry unit is much smaller. the iPhone is just another big device to lug around.

Well, none of the normal people I know think iPhone is big, in fact people thought it's thin for what it is. By the way, Blackberry is weak due to the fact that windoze mobile is a crippled version of a buggy inefficient windoze OS, containing a browser that is nowhere near the usability of Safari on iPhone.

My guess would be that's why O2 got the deal instead of anyone else (among other things) was that they were compliant with this kind of data demand (probably because they haven't invested as much in their data network as others).

I work on POS systems. Here, it's the "register", and the "till" is the money you've collected throughout the day. The money you start with is the "bank"...

Looks like the Apple UK store registers tomorrow are gonna have a lot of till....

This is pure madness, I won't entertain this conversation any longer...'register'...never heard of such absurdity in all my life. Register indeed. Good day sir.

Earth.
My guess. Its a UK event nd not at a show, so its most likley a local interest event. So...

UK iTunes Store content improvment
iPhone network announcment
iPhone release date in UK (possably EU as well. Any Non UK media invited?)

I doubt the iPhone will see a spec change.
I dont think and UK only products will be announced.
No World wide product announcments, as these are made from the USA.

How will the iPhone price policy work in the UK?

I have just been offered a free Samsung G600 with O2. Now the retail value of this phone is around £300 sim-free.

Now if the exchange rate on the iPhone calculates as around £200 that puts it real price at around £500 (now I know this all all hypothetical but hey). Now if you compare that to the iPod touch at £199 for 8GB you are looking at nearly £300 for the phone functionality.

Apple are in a difficult position here. If they go with the traditional UK pricing policy then they would have some very unhappy American customers.

For example the O2 XDA Trion costs £200 on a £25 p/m contract. This is the phone with which I expect the iPhone to challenge if not aim for a slightly lower market as it is not a full PDA so they would be asking a lot from consumers if they charged over £300 as speculated.

I hope you can follow my train of thought...

Think you've hit the nail on the head with that one.
