You will hear that as soon as folks there have access to the pre-release. No one has said that France is in testing yet, but since it was specifically mentioned, there is a chance it could go into testing soon with wide release in September.
Apple is testing new map data in France, Monaco and New Zealand. According to Justin O'Beirne, the new maps data could be released around July 14, 15.

I’m so lame (I’ll blame my pending move and work overload)…looks like I actually have the France preview?

Is there a reason why Apple doesn’t let us download maps offline?

Still need to rely on third party apps when traveling sometimes.

Good to know. Now if only Apple to let you set whether you have a gas or electric car. It’s silly to have one of those default categories be a gas station ⛽️ when you can’t use one.
Great idea!

Those of you testing iOS 16 beta 1, are there any additional Maps reporting categories like Waze or the same three that iOS 15.x has?

Thank you!

According to Justine France is in testing since 29 May, yet I have not seen anything fresh looking popping up for me yet. 🖐

I noted above that I made a mistake…I’m even the one who updated the first page info when it was released…apparently, I’m losing my mind. :)

Do we devs finally get an API to put detailed maps in our apps ?
Mine would seriously benefit from this !

Nah, you are ok! You even get to see the preview of the new French maps while being located in the US! ;) I am in France itself and still cannot see them (the easiest test is that harbour detail in Monaco). This is how it shows for me, same old!

Does anyone know what's happening with Look Around coverage in the UK? They had the vehicles driving around every city years ago and yet it's still only London that's avaliable.

To be honest, Edinburgh also has look around. But we agree that it's very little. According to Justin O'Beirne, it seems that Apple wants to release look around with poi labels in the United States and it takes a long time because it is a process that is not automated. We can imagine that it is the same for the United Kingdom and Japan.

How does the Detailed City Experience roll out; is it just like 'new maps' where it's randomly tested with a bunch of people?

Super keen to see it in Sydney this year
No, it's different from the new map data. It releases the detailed city experience for everyone without having a test period with a small sample of users.

What is this "Willis Tower" of which you speak? It will always be the Sears Tower, to me.

Watcha lookin' at, Willis?
Haha yep, the only time I ever call it the "Willis Tower" is if I'm talking to someone who isn't from around here. It is and always will be Sears Tower to me 😂

Or you also have those Sox fans who still call if Cellular Field (and even those who still call it Comiskey) instead of Guaranteed Rate 😂
