Went to a furniture store upstate a few days back. Apple Maps' directions took me into the parking lot, and right to the front door of the store.

The very next day, I navigated back to the same store, except this time was coming from a different direction. On this trip, Apple Maps took me into the parking lot, but claimed my destination was at the entrance to a different section of parking lot, nowhere near the actual store. (This was a large shopping complex with multiple big box stores and interconnected parking lots.)

Map style previews were updated in Beta 2

The condensed area name font has been changed in beta 2 and is now wider

The one thing I don’t like is that I can no longer see the LookAround areas by zooming out. The blue lines now fade away once you hit a certain zoom level.

I really only did that to check if there were new areas, but still. ;)

I visited a supplier today about 45 minutes away with an intermediate trip to lunch and everything worked great.

I used to have the supplier in my favorites because Maps didn't have the POI data. Searched when I got in my car and they popped right up (I removed from my favorites last year since I wasn't driving there at all). Maps also took me to their parking lot even though their address is the main road they face meaning I have to turn onto a perpendicular road and then into their main entrance. Niiiiice!
I’ve been contemplating, it would be nice to have it take you to the front or a parking place by default, based on a setting, or choice when starting. One for Lyft drivers or dropping off my wife, one for going to a place and I need to park.

Would be nice to have a default setting, and override it when starting.

When visiting someplace new, I usually "investigate" the area beforehand. If there's a separate parking area, or I'd rather navigate directly to a parking area, I'll set my destination as the parking lot.

My car's in-dash navigation system has a parking option that searches for and displays nearby parking lots when getting close to my destination. Of course, Google Maps will let you know how bad parking usually is around your destination.

Well…it SHOULD be the default…that’s the issue.

I wish they would make it easier to simply tap on a POI and edit entrances.

It does exist for some as my example points out, but it is the kind of thing that is so important, it needs to be REALLY easy to add/suggest the entrances for driving, walking and cycling.

Just to clarify as it seems to change with the wind, the easiest way to change an entrance to a poi:

Route to the poi (you don’t have to actually go there) and start the routing by hitting GO.

You can then cancel the route.

With Maps open, swipe up to the very bottom and select “report an issue”

Then select “Report Route Issue”

It will then bring up recent routes including the one you just did. (Note…if you close the app, it will erase the recent routes)

It will bring up all the routing steps. Simply select the bottom/last one which is the address of the POI

Then there you can select “Location of entrance is wrong”

That will bring up a map so you can select the driving and/or walking entrance locations (or if it is the same for both)

No 3d buildings while routing in CarPlay on beta 2 still (unless you slow way down so it zooms in enough...and typically only in top down at that point).

I wonder why certain corners aren't rounded. Small structures like sheds or whatever they are are also not rounded.

My guess is that the distance from corner to corner has something to do with it.

If the next corner falls within the radius or a certain distance from the radius, it defaults to 90-degrees or the whole side of the building would look round.

So today I drove to and from an appointment on the same roads, pretty much the same speed (30-40 mph) both ways. On CarPlay…no buildings visible going to the appointment, buildings visible on the way home. Odd.

And you're on the iOS 15 beta?

I'm hopeful then that the missing buildings while navigating is just an early beta glitch.

New issue that seems to have started with iOS 15 beta 2
When I open AM on my 12 ProMax, I will get items on the map that don’t belong.
I’ve seen Golden Gate Park, Ragged Point, and today Bitter Creek Wildlife Refuge.

Also my Recents are not updating properly since beta 2.

It's only 130 miles off...what's the big deal?

I remember things like this happening when new Maps was first launched during a beta period. Ony thing you can do is tap on the Bitter Creek POI and report an issue. I'm doing it on my end.

“Maps! Bringing new experiences to you rather than you to them!”

I posted these thoughts on Reddit after laying in bed at 4 am, but I think it makes sense. Thoughts?

* L.A., NYC and London detailed Maps are already done and we should see them in one of the last betas. Apple simply released SF to show the capability and encourage developers to include Maps in more of their apps.

* Detailed road info and LookAround for the rest of the USA will be released at once with ios15. They are obviously tied together and again, Apple is simply waiting until the end of the beta cycle or iOS 15 public release to launch. The wide release of LookAround in recent country releases seems to make this plausible.
