Can someone explain to me please why the banking app needs to have wallet support? Is this a requirement in order to add a credit card to Apple Pay? I was always under the impression that a banking app is not needed for AP.

It is not, but it’s a hint/clue that the bank is probably going to support Apple Pay :)

It is not a requirement for credit and most debit cards. However certain cards do not have a card number written on them (like VPay and Maestro cards in NL) so they either offer virtual cards that can be added to Apple Pay or only let you add the card through the app, which fetches the card number from the server.

Edit: It also offers a more streamlined experience of course.

Also, the verification of a card for Apple Pay is not done through the PassKit framework but through the bank's server. The inclusion of the PassKit framework is what triggers the wallet support in the app store. But it's not required for a bank to support Apple Pay

Ah, thanks :)

Comdirect T&C are back, but seems like they CTRL+F‘d Apple with X...

Well the last time the terms appeared was two weeks ago it said Apple Pay and also mentioned iCloud and all that.

So who’s betting on a launch tomorrow? Or should we avoid betting hahaha
We all know what happened when someone betted in the last few weeks.

Well... what to say about a "bank", that wants to be taken seriously as a main account bank, that shuts down customer access within the day without several days or weeks of pre notice? Sorry... can't take them serious.

You never had a little "Störung" at your bank before ? Lucky you..
1) jupp, never had a "little störung" that caused no access to my accounts. at none of my banks until now.
2) there is a difference between maintenance and a technical fault
[doublepost=1540828785][/doublepost]PS: and I never experienced card payment processing issues that Revolut customers complain about regularly ;)

They wouldn’t never admit it one day before release

Do you guys really believe that N26 would piss people off in the middle of the day just to take preparations for Apple Pay? They could easily do it in the night like all other banks do when doing some maintenance. This has nothing to do with Apple Pay it was just N26 screwing around probably not even knowing themselves what they were doing.

Some new Cashback for Boon users available around Halloween and so a maximum of ca. 6 month without a monthly account fee if you see it that way :)
...

I just went to Aldi and bought a gift card for 100€. We will use the gift card instead of credit card for the next groceries.
Went perfect and got the 10€ Halloween special.

I wonder why Apple isn’t doing the same as GooglePay and uses PayPal as a partner? In Neuland Germany Banks like ING announce that „people don’t ask for wireless or mobile payment“, which is more or less the attitude of most german banks.

I use wireless payment everywhere it’s possible via Credit cards or Maestro, so i really would appreciate the simple way to add those via PayPal to my IPhone.

I also see a lot of people using their cards wireless once they found out how it works. But seeing how slow Apple is in finding partners and also blocking his nfc chip for third party, paying via iPhone in Germany is dead already before it is launched.

You must be living in another Germany ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It will be the biggest launch with the most partners since the original launch in the US
