Check the #applepay on Twitter! All the banks are
posting launch sites and pics.

Well coordinated ;-) (by Apple)

Strange that Santander and Commerzbank are missing. Possibly the old “dinosaurs” were simply taking too long!?

Maybe that was the cause of the delay and Apple said f.it?

I would have expected DKB to participate from launch too. When looking at the launch partners I really don’t see what Apple took so long to bring Apple Pay to Germany. They could have launched years ago with the same partners I guess.

Deutsche Bank says that you need an account with them or a DB MasterCard. Does this mean Appla Pay will work with a DB girocard (using Maestro)?
DB website says "Ein Deutsche Bank Konto oder eine Deutsche Bank Mastercard" So i think Maestro will work

Ok guys now butter by the fishes :D Start this or next week? Is it possible to add cards before the offical start? I read that it was possible in most cases.

They list MasterCard, Amex and Visa as separate items in the supported list. Does that mean AP works regardless of the bank behind it? Cause Sparkasse sure as heck wont join I guess. I‘m scheduled to for a new MC @ Sparkasse today.

No, won't work with your MC from Sparkasse

MC, Amex, VISA (and Maestro) are just the supported networks.

No, Girocard isn't supported (and won't be for a long time, because it's technically not able to link up Apple Pay and the Girocard network).

The banks are the ones that need to support Apple Pay (and issue the cards). If you don't have a card by one of the participating banks, you're out of luck!

Guys? Boon or bunq, which one should I pick? Bunq writes that a 3rd card is possible as a Backup, does that mean Mastercard, Maestro and Visa?

Go bunq. You get four cards once Apple Pay launched. One digital maestro and three physical cards you can chose MasterCard or maestro. And you can use them instantly. No need to wait for the physical card to be shipped.

I know, but aren’t most girocards cobranded with Maestro meaning it will work via this „workaround“?

I tried adding my DB credit and debit card and it didn’t work...

No, that's changed.

You get three physical cards and all of those can support Apple Pay :) The previous virtual card was a workaround (to get users in non Apple Pay countries aboard). They had to change that when they publicly shared how to get around the region block and Apple stopped signing bunq cards in Wallet :D

No it won’t. You don’t have your Maestro number and you Will Never get your hands on it because banks don’t print it on your card.
