Could you share a screenshot? I also use an Amex card, but I got nothing.

I think it’s good what you have done here. You heared something and you told us about it. But u gave us all „metainformarion“ to your information. So we can decide for ourself what to do with the information. That’s great. Thank you!

Thank you, you are very polite.

I must apologise: I just spoke with my source, he just told me he had the 19.11. from kind of forum. Very funny, it could be this forum or not but he could be right so let just wait.

Do you use the "paid" card, or the free payback CC?
I just called the German Amex Support and asked specifically if the free Payback American Express Card will also support Apple Pay (I ordered it 2 days ago for that single purpose).
The call center agent needed to ask higher level support but then returned with the answer that it will support Apple Pay (and also told me that she can't tell me an exact date of launch.. bla bla bla).

.... which would then link again back to the payback announcement and the event 19.11. announced by them (sse above)

Payback isn’t going to announce anything.

Also from the Apple Pay page by Amex, you are directed to the page with all credit cards. In no other country has Amex locked out single cards.

BTW. Regarding Launch Date 12.11. that is speculated because of the date-Test.
maybe it is just, that Apple used TLS1.3 for their communication and I found this in the RFC8446:

4.2.11.1. Ticket Age

The client’s view of the age of a ticket is the time since the
receipt of the NewSessionTicket message. Clients MUST NOT attempt to
use tickets which have ages greater than the „ticket_lifetime“ value
which was provided with the ticket. The „obfuscated_ticket_age“
field of each PskIdentity contains an obfuscated version of the
ticket age formed by taking the age in milliseconds and adding the
„ticket_age_add“ value that was included with the ticket (see
Section 4.6.1), modulo 2^32. This addition prevents passive
observers from correlating connections unless tickets are reused.
Note that the „ticket_lifetime“ field in the NewSessionTicket message
is in seconds but the „obfuscated_ticket_age“ is in milliseconds.
Because ticket lifetimes are restricted to a week, 32 bits is enough
to represent any plausible age, even in milliseconds.

12.11. and 19.11 are also Mondays which make no sense whatsoever, just highly unlikely and everyone grasping at straws again. Nice to see you brought the technicals to the table.

Seems like Apple changed the wording on their official Apple Pay website for the cards. Strange. There is a lack of Girocard so Credit/Debit Card should fit better.

"Apple selbst hat die Formulierungen der offiziellen Ankündigungsseite apple.com/de/apple-pay überarbeitet und fast alle Vorkommnisse von „Kreditkarte“, „Debitkarte“ und „Prepaid-Kreditkarte“ durch „Bankkarte“ bzw. „Karte“ ersetzt."

Back in late 2017 someone from Apple told me they are very much hoping to implement the national girocard network, but never offered a timeline. I guess they are simply adjusting their wording to aid general comprehension and so they can keep it the same through 2019ff.

slightly OT:

Today I found the Amex logo at the Lidl POS. I perceived the note some weeks ago that lidl inonfficial accepts amex. Is this still the status oder did they announced that they now accept amex?

this makes amex a lot more attractive to me. does the reward points worth it? I got estimated expenses about 8k/year.

Makes AMEX also sexy for me. I ordered a Payback AMEX Card as i am not really buying stuff with Credit Cards except any Hollidays or Tickets but now with Apple Pay and the free AMEX Card from Payback i may can use this there. ALDI SÜD is also Accepting AMEX.

Rewe, dm, Real, ... most grocery stores accept Amex.

Only at restaurants is acceptance a problem.

For those i will carry my Girocard with me, but sometimes, they do also not accept any Girocards... Germany in 2018 has still problems with Card Payments

Wrong communication settings in your online account? ;)

They sent newsletter on a regular basis. New merchants, new promotions ... sometimes interesting.

Those who got the email: which Amex card do you have?

My settings are fine, I’ve received stuff in the past...
