If they are waiting, we have to wait several additional months.

From a marketing perspective, I get it why they would want to have the biggest impact. More banks is better in the press. Also puts pressure on the holdouts (Sparkasse, etc.)

However, given the fact that Tim Cook said Apple Pay would come this year—which also has been reported by the press—I would guess that they would have to weigh the pros and cons here. Not being able to launch in 2018, in my eyes, is more damaging than saying a few additional banks are coming soon.

It's not like Apple is not known to just launch with a few and add other banks shortly after.

Just waiting for Santander alone could be reason enough PR-wise. Outside our bubble (=general public) nobody is frustrated or impatient. I recall around the first rumoured launch mid November, it was said Santander could use two more weeks.

S does not need more pressure. FI is working on it.

And if Apple wants real market impact, they should have allured big red S more to join the launch with at least their MasterCards. Perhaps with smaller fees or something like that.

I don’t think they are waiting for another bank. There must be another reason.

Outside our bubble nobody gives a f*** about ApplePay :D

Assuming DKB and ING will join the launch... how do they compare to comdirect?
Does anybody in here have experience with their Apps, especially of DKB and ING?
Yes, I use DKB as my main account and ING as a secondary one.

Short and concise / apps:
DKB:
+: Very functional, shows complete online banking experience, card control (lock card), push for Visa Credit
-: Not a native app, sluggish

ING:
+: Push for Visa + Girocard (! only bank I know that does this), native app, minimalistic
-: Doesn't offer access to "Postbox" and stocks, no card control

Overall I like using ING due to Push for Girocard (if I really need to use it) and the Visa card is basically a debit card.

If anyone is interested in more (I have all three accounts, just write a PN).

Apple Pay with DKB would make me use that account more for daily stuff...

I wouldn't say that. I've been asked about this "mobile payments stuff" recently and have seen people actually use the contactless feature on their card when out and about. It wasn't like that say 5-6 months ago here in Germany.

Yes, I was thinking of shaking up my accounts. I slightly regret opening the comdirect account (as I don't really need it)... But if DKB are coming aboard, ING will have absolutely no other choice. As Mr Linsenbarth predicted. "They will all fall, one by one." :D

They will. Banks don't believe it yet, but Apple Pay will be dominant compared to all other mobile payment solutions.
Depends. Look at Switzerland ("there was no collusion over Twint!") o_O

I'm surprised most German banks have given in before it has even launched after saying that they wouldn't take part and nobody needed it  Now it seems they're all racing to take part as quickly as possible. For most it isn't a question of "if", but "when".

It took a week long s**tstorm in the UK for Barclays to give in - in a country that already has a high rate of contactless payments and is much more advanced when it comes to adopting new tech such as mobile payment. My assumption was it'd be a flop as it has been in some other countries. But there you go, the more the merrier!

DKB for GPay announcement: Other mobilepayment solution users: don‘t worry, we‘ve never discriminated against any operating system

Oh please no more predictions from him

There is no need for any prediction from Linsenbarth or any other for DKB. They told it all the time, that they will support mobile payment solutions with „hints“ for GPay and Apple Pay, but not telling it „officialy“.

Spent a while looking for that information.. so iOS 10.3.2 was released on May 15 2017 (Monday) and AP in Italy was introduced on May 17 2017 (Wednesday). So no, I don't even think it had anything to do with AP? All that is really needed are server-side changes from Apple...

Server-side but not only I think.

Im now really starting to believe the theory that actually all of the banks are ready for Apple Pay and have activated the systems on their part and they’re waiting for Apple to push the button.

And the theory that they told different launch days to different banks to test the leaks seems plausible as well.

Off-topic, but still relevant:

I have the 250€-limit bunq account and it looks like when you pay in foreign currencies, your account will be debited two times meaning the limit is struck with double the original amount. Not very nice

but why should Apple care about these leaks - they have enough internal ones - remember how soon we knew how the iphone XS would look like ...

Probably got completely crazy - remember those stories where people got fired for really small things actually. This clearly shows the general politics at Apple - everything is under an NDA. Not really healthy for people working there or companies working with Apple.

What happened?

Just clicked the add card and get after a few seconds spinning wheel - but was online so I could post this ...

EDIT ---- and gone again to the normal Konfiguration Error - do they play around maybe

So you two got Apple Devices after Steve Jobs? If employees leaked… Fired!
