Well, they have been listed on the official French Apple pay site since April 2018, since December in Germany.

The real news is, that for the first time they've actually announced it with the official Apple Pay marketing material and showing off the card on iPhone. I'm sure that Apple would only allow promoting it like that if a launch was certain.

On the other hand: They NEED to launch it. All other major challenger banks have it and for many it's an essential feature. I'm hopeful it will finally be "soon"

In the UK, Revolut is not covered by the FSCS (Financial Services Compensation Scheme) which is a guarantee to protect account holders if the bank/finance company fails. That is a big black mark for a UK based company. My understanding is that it is seeking membership of that scheme and not before time, too. I am wondering if the delay in Apple's accepting its cards for Apple Pay is down to that.

Interesting. Boon Android Payment App (not the app itself but the payment option inside it) will be discontinued due to the partnership with Apple/Google.

Quote:
"Es wäre für uns schlicht zu ineffizient, auf zu viele parallele Lösungen zu setzen."

Sparkasse/VoBa of course would fully disagree at that point ;)

Not relevant for us but what speaks for a good Boon customer service at all:
In Austria Boon would be no more possible until Google Pay will be introduced.
But because many customers asked Boon after the announcement to not end the android payment option until Google Pay appear, they decided to do so. The picture below is the first announcement.

My contact with the boon customer service was also always fast and helpful.

would love to see more context ...
Those numbers are already being doubted (and by the way were shown at the #CashCon2019, not Payment Exchange) ... question is who exactly conducted the study and who they asked. The Handelsverband guy on Twitter is already raving about it, whilst others question the intentions.

Another slide... https://twitter.com/binneboessel/status/1088409664864374784

Apparently, credit cards are cheaper than cash, but Girocard is much much cheaper than all others? Hmm

Either way, interesting stuff at todays payment exchange. Apple Pay is the "talk of the town" and Deutsche Bank have done well so far, it seems. https://twitter.com/hashtag/pex19?f=tweets&vertical=default&src=hash

Yeah, nur nobody wants to talk about numbers at the POS.

Perhaps the real everyday usage does not match the application and registration cheering?

They have talked about it.

And Amex AP usage figures for Germany are a good indicator.

As AP is still a „Special“ card for a very small number of customers... Nope. Not comparable. Especially as we don’t have numbers what the share of contactless payments at Amex is to her the 20% of contactless payments in perspective.

And Yes, as I see it, they wanted to talk about mobile payment at the POS. But nobody gave answers?

I really like the Wallet redesign in iOS 12.2

Looks like we'll finally get a full transaction overview for more than the last 10 transactions... and maybe, just maybe, Apple might push banks to implement transactional information and receipts into Wallet. From the quick overview it looks like that is a possibility.

And Apple Pay Cash (or an Apple Credit Card) would be nice too, I suppose

Currently switching from Norisbank to ING.

Apple Pay wasn't the onliest reason to change the bank.

But after all I was waiting for a bank, which does not cost to much and which will offer a card for Apple Pay that works like a Debit Card.

And after ING got announced, I did wait for an welcome bonus offer. So my switch is currently in progress.

Till the launch I will continue with boon.

Yeah. 9,99€ monthly subscription for Curve Black. I don't think I will need that insurance stuff that much to be worth so much money for me.

I think I will take the alternative path:

"If you are still not convinced after the 3 months’ trial, you will be able to keep your Curve Black Legacy tier with its benefit of unlimited fee-free foreign exchange and increased free foreign ATM extractions, without paying any monthly subscriptions."

At least, we have the choice for the legacy path. Would be interesting to see, how many would quit curve without this offer.

I just read the terms. You have to actively write them to not end up in the 9,99€
From their terms:
Code:
4.2.3. For our users who signed up for Curve Black before 28th of January, 2019, they will have a right to continue using the Curve Black Services. In case you have signed up for a Curve Black card and you decide not to upgrade to the Curve Black Services or the Curve Metal Services on or after the 28th April 2019, you will have the option to continue using the Curve Black Legacy Services and will not be charged Curve Black Subscription by getting in touch with Curve at support@curve.app. For clarification, Curve Black Legacy Services are the services that were provided to all Curve Black users before 28th December 2018. Please note, that you will not be able to use any of the new features if you decide not to use the Curve Black Services. Please note that those that have upgraded to the Curve Metal Account will not be able to move to the Curve Black Legacy Services. If you decide to Downgrade to Curve Blue Services from Curve Black Services, you will not have the option to move to Curve Black Legacy Services.

Google Pay, Apple Pay: 30% of the Germans use Mobile Payment:
https://www.heise.de/newsticker/mel...Deutschen-nutzt-mobiles-Bezahlen-4291319.html (German!)

I find this hard to believe. Only weeks ago all studies found the percentage to be insignificantly low (like around 1-3% IIRC?) and now it supposedly increased ten-fold? HCE solution downloads are only in 6-digits, and AP/GP are only available to a few financial institutes. Seems like their sample is distorted and not representative.

Well, not 30% of Germans do use mobile payment but 30% of 1.005 Germans asked claim to have used it at least once ever, big difference!
See page 2: https://www.bitkom.org/sites/default/files/2019-01/Bitkom-Präsentation PK SID 2019.pdf

The problem is: the study claims to be representative (a different statistical population would have been explicitly stated and defined). Through inductive reasoning their results are claimed to apply to all Germans in relation.

I believe that Netherlands is one of the most difficult countries for the banks and Apple.
They have already a very high adoption of electronic payments, but they use Maestro with a very high percentage with even a lot less fees for the banks then Maestro/Girocard in Germany. There is basically no room for a mobile payment solution. I don't even know if any bank in NL has their own Mobile solution on Android? Maybe they cannot even finance that from the low fees.
And additionally Apple does not tolerate a payment for ApplePay, which could be a way for Netherlands bank to say, the ApplePay costs you a monthly fee of xx euros.
