The first reported source ;) Does anyone know if Google Pay also requires a specific contract with Google and do they also take a cut of the card payments? If yes, then we might be lucky this year!

Recent numbers also indicate that (not sure if I had mentioned it here before) iOS now has an increased market share of 22% and climbing. So that's not an insignificant amount of people.

Let's see what WWDC brings :)

Interesting. Very interesting.

Those bad, bad banks who just don’t want mobile payment, future or cooperations with other companies :D

But that's my question. What cut does Google take? They might offer their service for a much more - at least for the banks - reasonable price or even for free. Who knows!

Android Pay DIDN'T take a cut of the bank's transaction fees, and literally lost their shirts - no word on the WWW about what fee Google Pay is charging banks.

American Express was first with Apple Pay in Canada, first with Apple Pay in Australia, AND nowhere to be seen in Germany!

Looks like Australians empathize with you -

"Given 45 per cent of us use iPhones, and 60 per cent of us bank with one of those three institutions, that means at least 27 per cent of us are shut out from using this cutting edge technology entirely."

Well they aren't really locked out. What about switching banks? The market is competitive enough as it is and I feel like there are more than just the banks I'm with now that could offer me other perks... Apple Pay is a deciding factor as well.

What about switching banks?

Having gone cashless I've been a devout Apple Pay user for the past 2 years BUT, frankly, for me, it's just NOT a service I would have switched away from my current bank to get. The contactless pay debit and credit cards were, and still are, working just fine.

But you could also think the other way around. They turned it down, because they will start soon ;-)
Anyhow the bunq trick is in my eyes harder then the boon trick. With boon you take a foreign account, which might even be very legal in the EU and hard to beat without having problems with the EU.
The bunq trick is using a fraud with address manipulation when ordering the credit card.

comdirect already shut down the faq page.

And really? Why should Apple force bunq to kill the "italien" trick, if they would announce apple pay soon? they could have just ignored it, when they would announce it 2-3 months later
The reason they have in other countries: Exclusivity agreements. Maybe even one of the biggest bargaining chips in the negotiations.

You mean Google? Well the German flag is on the list so they are doing something here. We´ll see.

Yeah I wouldn't get too caught up in that visual, Google is selling the entire concept as everything going through your Google account i.e. all Google services and you don't need Google Pay to top up your Google account.

Current support for Google here - https://support.google.com/pay/answer/7454247?hl=en
