a few minutes ago i saw a tweet from N26 Support, with the approximate text" now you can use N 26 with Apple Pay in Ireland". Little later the tweet was deleted and is not findable anymore...

Now it's online again https://twitter.com/n26/status/1001392683565412352
The big question is: why now? One week before WWDC. I Don't think thats a coincidence. Nothing at Apple is a coincidence.

By the way: Another good indication, that sunny2k1's theory of an imminent start of AP with Girocard and Sparkasse was and is still wrong.
Found this an my Mac. They even added the logo of the french CB-Payment System, so they would have added the girocard logo if a start was imminent.

The macOS update which includes iMessage in the cloud is still not out but should arrive very soon.

The Maestro logo is also not there although they support adding Maestro cards in Italy. ;-)

Not just in Italy ;-)

But he is sort of right, if you add a Maestro card to wallet it will show a MasterCard logo because maestro is part of MasterCard. However girocard is not owned by any bigger card issuer, right?

(That logo is only shown during entering of the card number, the actual on card logo is fetched from Apple's Servers.)

This seems not to be right. I have added multiple Maestro cards to my wallet and it does show Maestro not MasterCard logo.

Correct. like I said, the card doesn’t show a MasterCard logo, because the card image is one complete image with logos. Only the number on the card is added later. However if you manually enter your card details it does show that logo in the text field. That is what those files are used for

There wouldn’t need to be a Girocard logo included in the builds. The adding of cards would happen through the apps and the card graphic retrieved from the servers. Either way if Apple Pay is incoming then probably without Girocard support. That’s something we’ll just have to live with. Honestly, there aren’t many places left where there is a Girocard only acceptance.

It will be interesting to see if Google Pay supports Girocard :/

We expect nothing :p

Btw boon had a complete outage on saturday (no payment, no app), maybe server upgrade?

I don’t expect anything to be announced at all. Why should they? Just a couple of weeks ago new countries where announced and two of those are still waiting for Apple Pay to launch. So why should they make another announcment. They could have announced all countries then all together.

We can only hope, bank in Romania are giving mixed information too, and they let us understand that something will pe available soon. Probably due to NDA's with Apple, they need to keep it for themselves until Apple brags about it.

Some User in the commands about the 9to5mac article about WWDC posted a screenshot from ING-DiBA about Apple Pay in Romania:

Translation:

Why is Germany more important than Ukraine for example? It’s not. Everything about our financial institutions is less important and attractive for Apple than Ukraine. In Ukraine you can pay everywhere cashless and contactless with visa or MasterCard. Now think again why is Germany more important?

More people, more money, more "prestige" to add Germany to the list. That being said, I don't expect any announcements today.

Germany has lots of very old people. People that don’t use tech. And you seem to forget nobody likes to use credit cards. Like I said Germany has nothing to offer that other countries don’t have too. It’s probably the other way around.

Come one.... get over the f*cking topic "credit card" CC are not required for Apple Pay. How often has this topic been discussed?!
