Yepp. In total volume. We had these numbers in discussion a few weeks and pages ago. That's the big problem in public discussion about the topic.

If the author wants to show, that Germany is "cash land", he quotes the number of sales that are paid in cash (including one single biscuit for a few cents counting as much as a grocery purchase for 200€).
If the author wants to show, that cashless payment is growing, he takes the stats for total volume.

The only statistics you can trust are those you falsified yourself...

btw: nice German article of a FinTech/mobile payment-Blog:
https://paymentandbanking.com/fintech-jetzt-aber-mal-ehrlich/

quite realistic view in everday's life and the customer base.

While the Sparkasse social media team only say that they are "waiting" and interested in the Apple Pay Germany start, there is kind of official statement that the BVR is at least in conversation with Apple. (Thought an Apple-NDA would forbid to say even that ;))

https://www.volksbank-backnang.de/w...-regionales/banksache/digitale-bankkarte.html

"Eine Integration der Karten auf Apple-Geräten erfordert immer eine Einbindung von Apple Pay und bedingt damit zusätzliche technische und insbesondere wirtschaftliche Herausforderungen. BVR und DZ BANK sind mit Apple im Gespräch, um auch für Apple-Geräte eine Lösung zu finden."

For me that doesn´t sound like the standard sh..t we heard alot, that the bank cannot offer something until Apple give open access to the NFC interface for all etc. Sounds more like it´s going into the right direction because I guess that they surely know that they have no chance to get a special treatment from apple for their own payment solution. So the mentioned conversations can only be about apple pay.

BTW in the Chip article:

"Und es kommt noch dicker. Eine Großbank ist bereits dabei, eine weitere steht in den Startlöchern, wie CHIP aus guten Kreisen erfuhr. Denn ohne die Unterstützung der Kreditinstitute funktioniert Google Pay erst gar nicht."

That sounds interesting.

After the No for GPay from the Sparkassen and Volksbanken and possible Yes to Apple Pay, I think we will see it with iOS 12 and then with Girocard und maybe also Apple Cash.

I would not bet my home on it, but after the last days it sounds plausible. But I'm not sure if we really have to wait until end of September.

I would like that, but my guess is it will never happen.
It's all about the transactional data that Apple wants to be able to access.

On the other hand, does someone believe the will roll out a pay service without testing it? I do believe that a couple of guys is walking around from some banks with prerelease "Mobile Payment Cards" to test it in the wild.
What wonders me here is that he even is willing to show.
Maybe someone in Cologne wants to contact him and drink a Kölsch?

If there will be launch of Apple Pay, there are definitely people around to test it in everyday life. But a guy like this seems to have serious problems and will get his wife in trouble.... just for some „Look what I‘ve got here“
(If the story is true)

I can try to contact my friend at Lokal Sparkasse here if he heared something new. He said that Apple Pay would start later this year and with Sparkasse...
[doublepost=1530304821][/doublepost]Very speculative:

Could this be the reason no other expected bank (ing diba, etc) started with google pay? They start google and Apple at the same time supporting credit cards and giro cards...

I have stated this a few months back: I was told the girocard was important to support at/close to launch in Germany. Seeing that girocard is THE key product of Sparkasse/Genossenschaftsbanken, I would guess Apple has made a deal to implement the girocard and get SPK/Genossen on board as key partners, but also had to wait until the girocard digital solution is able to be launched on all big operating systems within a few weeks or months maximum. Sparkasse especially has stated on social media they are 'interested in Apple pay'.
As much as some people think this is just to keep the dogs from barking, in this context I see that as a confirmation of the aforementioned situation, without SPK having to admit the delay is due to their own inability to launch girocard digital earlier.

So all in all, Apple delays AP to be able to launch the big boys instead of just some direct banks and fintechs.

Interesting: The Volksbank has now removed this single sentence that the BVR is in conversation with apple! :D

As I wrote I was wondering about the "Apple-NDA" that forbid that. The removed sentence is not something that a simple social media / internet site employee write without closer information or instruction. So in my opinion the removal is more a confirmation that Apple is in close contact with some of the bigger german banks. Similar to the quick removal of the google pay instructions on comdirect site a few weeks before.

Here you find the previous Volksbank original site:

Who wants to say, that Germany is old fashioned? :D

https://www.ekbo.de/themen/detail/nachricht/der-digitale-klingelbeutel-kommt.html

Well now that all three countries launched Apple Pay that were announced at the last earnings call (ukraine, poland and norway) and its only one month before the next earnings call it would defintely fit with the time table of Sparkasses own mobile payment plattform for android. Its being said that Sparkasse will launch its own solution for android on August 1st so maybe this guy from cologne is really onto something.
[doublepost=1530418876][/doublepost]And by the way if the information from 4-traders.com are right next Apple earnings call will happen on July 24th. But nasdaq is expecting next earnings call on August 7th.
