What makes it "extremely high"? A launch next week doesn't make sense and due to the public holidays I can't imagine German banks launching one day before their staff all spend a day out.

We will see next week the launch of student ID cards on Apple Pay, the launch of Apple Pay @ PKO Bank Polski; why not also the launch of Apple Pay in Germany? One day before the national holiday, as a present to the germans for their freedom? I think it makes sense...

As far as I remember new banks and new countries launched very often on the same day...

A day in next week has to do something with the information I got... at least the local Sparkasse will start something Mobile-payment-related next week...

And holidays are no reason for an it department to not work. Most updates we do are done on weekends and most times we take weekends were we have an additional day without daily business. Holiday or „brückentag“. It just gives you a more relaxed release and no distraction from daily stuff...

[doublepost=1538072963][/doublepost]Have not heared a word from my friend yet. But last time I saw him he said „we kinda do anything...“

Does your branch already offer “Mobiles Bezahlen” for Android? If not, then that will most likely be launched next week.

My opinion: the Sparkassen will release MobilesBezahlen for iOS alongside the start of Apple Pay in germany, with implemented Bluecode as rival for Apple Pay... optical mobile payment system and part of the upcoming re-launch of Paydirekt. Would make sense... the Bluecode team announced that they will have a big announcement soon for Germany...

I never heard anything related to a possible launch of bluecode. And what you mean with „relaunch“ of paydirekt no idea what you mean with this because there is no such thing. The only information that is going around is that the banks are planning to evolve paydirekt that’s why Sparkasse invested a lot of money for the future of paydirekt but „paydirekt 2.0“ won’t happen until 2020 that’s what the official words are.

Then wait and see what happens...

@bluecode deleted a tweet that was tweeted before...

If you follow some financial bloggers you could have read the information regarding Paydirekt! It is not yet official but... there will happen something this year

Up to 700 millions Chinese people pay with this propietary barcode... the acquirer BS Payone (Sparkasse) implemented Bluecode and are going to roll it out in Germany...

Yeah but they are primarely using Wechat Pay or not? I‘m no fan of this barcode crap, sorry.

Dear Mr Newbie: Never in a million years would the Sparkasse use a QR-code system for iPhones after investing so heavily into contactless payment. It's not going to happen and I hope Bluecode and all these other solutions fail - badly. They're complicated, unsecure and don't offer many of the benefits that contactless / tokenisation payment has (on- and offline).

Anyway: No Apple Pay launch in Germany next week. Second or third week in October. Watch out!

EDIT: T&Cs for BNP Paribas have appeared in Belgium... haven't seen this widely reported yet though... https://twitter.com/FlorianPraile/status/1045248842973753345
Maybe worth going through our cards again!?

So you assume, that Apple Pay will start in the 3rd or 4th week in October? In the 3rd week, we have the iPhone XR launch. So I don't think so. Thus, the last possible week would be the 4th.

No, preorders start then. Maybe coupled with iOS 12.1? There is also talk in other parts of this forum of an event at the end of October. Who knows... pure speculation and surprisingly not even the slightest hint yet of anything, which is suspicious.

It is the only way to come on iPhones as long as Apple is not giving access to the NFC interface beside the possibility to participate on Apple Pay...

An Apple Pay announcement in an October event, if(!) it takes place at all, will not happen. They haven't spoken about AP in a keynote for over two years now. If we hear something about AP, then at Q4 Earnings.

Apple Pay will be released by 31/10. I didn't speak of Apple Pay being topic at the keynote. But if a keynote is planned, they won't launch Apple Pay just before/after due to keeping the press free for other announcements!

Yeah. And it's not an option that will be considered. At some point, hopefully sooner rather than later, Sparkasse will join Apple Pay. And if that doesn't happen, the EU will potentially force Apple at some point to open up the NFC chip in which case we have to deal with that lovely piece of software lovingly named "Mobiles Bezahlen"... mhmmm can't wait for some of that lovely SPK software...

Why 31.10? If you look at the holiday situation in Germany, it is even more unlikely than the 2.10, next week. The 31. is Halloween and Reformationstag. Reformationstag is a "gesetzlicher Feiertag" at some "Bundesländer". The day after, we have Allerheiligen, also a gesetzlicher Feiertag. The day after is Friday and then weekend. In addition, we probably have the Q4 Earnings at 31. or 1. Pretty much stuff at the same time. To me, that date doesn't make sense at all.

He wrote „by“. So he thinks Apple Pay will be released until the end of October most likely, not on the exact day of Oct 31th...
