Not necessarily ... Apple does not always creates translated screenshots:
https://support.apple.com/de-de/HT208204

But I think they will change several screenshots for Apple Pay, at least the configuration screens and so on. As long as this did not happen, we are probably some weeks away from a start.
Think that to, but at least something is happening

It’s not like we should be surprised about this is it? I mean they let us wait for years now why make it easy for us now. And it just fits the scheme latelay announcing „new products“ just to delay them for another year or so just like with „air power“ or before this Apple speaker and before that the iMac pro, Mac Pro and so on...

Im still on my freaking iPhone se with a smashed front screen waiting for Apple to launch Apple Pay for sure before replacing my phone. Guess i need to wait another couple of weeks at least but if it’s not gonna happen soon I’ll get the one plus 6t.

Why do you wait buying a new phone until Apple pay launches?

@ basti_no

Because I’m not so pleased with Apple lately anymore but I do like Apple Pa a lot. I have been using it everyday in Russia and it’s amazing so Apple Pay is the one thing that would make me wanna stay with the iPhone. And I am thinking of getting a smartwatch that supports mobile payment since I’m a serious runner and my old fenix 3 needs a replacement. So I am thinking about the Apple Watch 4 and a new iPhone 8 or something like this but I don’t like having my phone with me when I’m running so you get the idea. Otherwise I’m just going for a one plus and a new Garmin because I really can’t and don’t want to wait any longer. If I’ve then until end of October I guess.

Guess that picture with the wallet card that mentioned Tuesday October 16th on the Saudi Arabia page will tell us nothing? :p

Maybe a small hint from Apple for the iPad/Mac event (timeframe would be also suitable to the iPhone Xr Launch) including some showtime for Apple Pay Cash Europe (and a little sentence about Germany and Saudi Arabia).

As far as I remember there were rumors about the more affordable Macbook now with TouchID. So Apple Pay indeed could be worth a small mention in the macbook presentation.

But as always maybe too much speculating ;)

EDIT:
A week later on October 24th Tim will speak at European data protection conference in Brussels so the usual Tuesday to Thursday timeframe for events is very unlikely for that week. Really guess we will see invitations to the event in the next days :)

Maybe you are right about this keynote thing cause it kinda looks like a ticket for some kind of theatre. On the left you do see a camera and date could be valid too. We will see I guess.

I can now scan my identity card at ApplePay Cash although the region setting is Germany. But it aborts at the end with an error during the check.
In my opinion, the configuration of ApplePay Cash was always aborted directly at startup.

Or did I remember this incorrectly?

If your region is set to Germany you shouldnt be able to see Apple Pay Cash in the first place unless you are already using Apple Pay with a card you set up by changing regions.

On my phone is no Apple Pay Cash to see. But as far as I can remember it never was able to scna the identity card before.

I've been using Boon for a year, configured with Region Setting Ireland.
I can't say when ApplePay Cash was available as an option. But in the past I tried to configure ApplePay Cash several times, but I mean there was always an error message like not available or something.

But as I said now I can scan my passport with German region settings.

I think it all customised to the US. For example the social security number is only allowed to have numbers. But German ones have also letters. So I think it is just a translation without any link to a release in Germany.

Nope, even on iOS 11 I could scan my ID but indeed aborts and the end of check. Region setting is Netherlands for me.

Even after a couple of tries I get an email how to set up Apple Pay.

This morning Apple Pay Cash showed up in my wallet on my iPhone. Region and everything is set to Germany/German and I'm not using boon etc. When I try to set up Apple Pay Cash it asks for the last 4 digits of my social security number, so it is clearly not yet set up for Germany. But this is the first sign on my end that something is happening. I have been patiently (and impatiently) following this thread and the former thread and now it finally looks like something is about to happen. On my MacBook Pro though it gives me an error message if I try to start Wallet & Apple Pay indicating that it is not yet available.

But like Schwabe said you used to not be able to even scan your ID. It would bring up an error message before you get to this point at least I wasnt able to get to this part. So there definitely changed something. Of course this can be for any reason and doesnt mean its conected to Apple Pay Cash Germany whatsoever.

On what version is your MacBook? I still don't have it on High Sierra...

It is on Mojave.

The iPhone gives an error when I try to add a credit card with the + sign in the wallet app. I checked with a friend: Neither Apple Pay Cash not the + sign is visible for him.

Ok I do not have this. So I suppose you have changed your region in the settings in the past right?
