Been to a couple of Sainsbury’s petrol stations recently and both now have contactless enabled. Hopefully it’s the same everywhere.

On a side note I’m liking Apple Pay implementation on the X. The improved speakers also make the transaction completion sound a lot more satisfying than it was on 6s plus.

Might find out myself in a couple of weeks time; seriously considering trading in my iPhone 8 Plus and switching to iPhone X!

I

I have put my 8 plus on eBay and ordered an X. I would rather have returned the 8, but, to late.
The X is scheduled for delivery 30/11-7/12, though I imagine I can knock a week off that. I am using my 6s plus at the moment. Still works ok, but a bit sluggish compared to the 8.

Got my iPhone X on Saturday & hadn’t realised what a rigmarole it would be to re-enable ApplePay.

I set up as new device so that may have made it worse. The main culprit was my M&S credit card for which I had to phone up the bank to verify. Then I tried to add to my Apple Watch (which of course needed setting up again after re-pairing) and even though I had just called to verify the card for my phone, it is now asking me to call again to verify the card on the watch. The twitter folk said that it may be because I didn’t have up to date contact info on my card - which is an odd claim for a bank to make .. how do they think I use internet banking if they don’t have my contact info?

Even though I checked my data was all correct it’s still asking me to phone them. I’ll wait until I can spare 20 minutes of my life to do it.

I am with Lloyds. I can verify my debit card with a text. However when I verify my CC I always have to call the bank.

Yet I have to call Lloyds to verify both my Visa Debit and Choice Rewards credit cards; wouldn't mind but I've had an account with them for nearly four years now so it's not like I'm a new customer...

I have been with them about 20 years. Still have to phone up though. I suspect that the CC is a different department to the debit cards. I have asked them why the difference when I have called the verify the CC but just get a mumbled vague response.

I'm thinking of switching banks to First Direct, heard good things. Has anyone had any Apple Pay issues with them or HSBC (since they're the same banking group) in terms of large payments being blocked etc?

Have you got text marketing ticked on the ‘ change your marketing preferences ‘ on the profile page. That made a difference for me. It will not solve the CC verification but I do not have to call about my debit card.

When I re-added my Lloyds debit card to my iPhone 8 the only verification method I got was to call them. When I originally set the card up in Apple pay on my old iPhone I was able to verify by SMS.

Yes, I have the same problem only mine is reversed. I can verify by text on my new phone but not my old 6s plus or my iPad. Seems as if you can do it on only one device, does not make sense.

Thanks for the tip; was enabled underneath my profile and still asks me to call.

It doesn't and I could understand it if I was still using my 6 Plus from a couple of years ago.... but I'm not and I deleted the card(s) before wiping my phone so you'd have thought it'd tally their end.

Paid for petrol at Morrison’s today for £33 with Apple Pay! Handy to know I won’t need my wallet there now. Not sure about in store yet.

Ah okay, that's good to know! Last time I tried it was very soon after they started advertising mobile payments and they didn't have it set up for >£30 back then.

May very well be mentioned here somewhere in this thread but think it was sometime in late 2016?

At least they have got the right idea unlike some companies!

Used Apple Pay on the web twice today for a Black Friday event. Spending near on £100 by just looking at my phone is both impressive and terrifying.

Which sites were these out of interest?

See Apple still don’t have Apple Pay enabled for their site if you use the Employee discount scheme...
