Completely agree, I don't blame the staff though, it's managements responsibility to make sure staff are briefed appropriately.

I went into McDonald's again (same branch where I first used Apple pay a week ago to be confronted with "we don't take payment from phones" I'm not an argumentative type but did state, well I used my phone last week and you have apple pay stickers in the window, he response "we used to accept it but we've stopped now as it takes too long"

Translate to mean "I don't know how to work the till properly"

Does that mean they've stopped taking chip & pin payments and cash payments too? As they take longer

You should have reported him/her.

Probably a breach of the franchisee agreement, that. (If it was sanctioned by a manager).

A few days ago I had someone at a BP try and tell me they wanted to see the actual card before I could use the card via Apple Pay. I told him that defeated the entire point and I didn't have my wallet on me (Which was the truth). He still refused, once I thanked him for the free diesel he quickly changed his tune!

Tried with my watch in KFC, I've found my watch to not be as reliable as my phone. The girl on the till said they didn't support Apple pay, even though the sign was right on top of the card reader... She was like "not until the 20th something" but I was like, you accept contactless, it's going to work, so switched to my phone and bam, it worked.

Some of these stories are beyond belief. It is ridiculous how poorly staff have been trained on this.
I bet they've had no training at all in some cases! To be fair the Post office has been the only place where she'd heard about it. Most knew about the phone but have looked at me oddly with the watch.
Today was very useful, handbag with cards in buried in bottom of a rucksack - paying for a small gift for someone in scribbler with my wrist. The guy on the till was a trainee, but didn't comment lol.

Nearly every time I've gone to use Apple Pay, the person behind the till says they do not except it. I says lets just try, works every time. Haven't found a shop yet where it hasn't worked. Seems if you haven't got a card or cash in your hand the standard response is "We don't except it"

Sounds like you are saying "do you accept apple pay?"

I just say, "paying by contactless". Never had an issue.

I tried 'pay with card' once and it didn't work. I needed to specify contactless.

Same here. I always say contactless, otherwise in Boots (where I often get my lunch) the chip and pins don't activate until they press a button on the POS.

I'm sure it has been discussed on here. If you're traveling to the US would you be able to use Apple Pay on your U.K. iPhone. I'm guessing the answer is yes?

Americans when visiting the UK can, so I don't see why it wouldn't work in reverse.

Just spent the day in London and used my watch on the tube. Worked quickly enough. Except for one time where I forgot to double tab the button and wondered why it wasn't working ahah.

Tried using Apple Pay for the first time today, tried twice in the Co-op and it didn't work - declined both times. Strangely my contactless debit card worked straight away. Any idea what might have caused this? The member of staff who served me mentioned how it didn't work for some one using a watch earlier in the week.

Bought 3 bottles of wine and the co-op today and my watch worked fine.
