I have just received a brand new Amex card. I only got the account a week ago. It registered straight away in Apple Pay. I went to use it at McDonalds and it asked for my card which I had left at home. Today I tried using my watch in Morissons and again it asked for the card which this time had with me. Is this likely to be a one time thing just to activate the card somehow?

stick the card in the hole in the wall and draw some money out. That'll activate it for sure.

Went to Bath today, and apart from the train ticket, I only used Apple Pay. Not once a problem, it worked every time and it was quick too. As I still have an older iPhone my experience is only with the Watch.
My bank doesn't support Apple Pay yet, but was lucky as my old Virgin Credit Card changed into an mbna one at some point, and until the Apple Pay launch I had actually never used it. I bet quite a few of their customers suddenly rediscovered their mbna card.

I had already used it in atm to change the pin. Don't really fancy drawing money out on Amex. Hopefully using it in Morissons is enough

My NatWest Visa debit card continued to give grief with random declined transactions so I've deleted this card and using Apple Pay with my NatWest MasterCard instead. So far 100% success rate with 10+ transactions over the past week.

Since my first use in Costa failed I've had 100% success since with my Natwest debit. Was mildly irritated our quick shop in Waitrose came to £21 today :)

Anyone else noticed that standard contactless or keyed pin transactions appear in Wallet when using Amex?

Still waiting for HSBC to get a move on. Hopefully they will be up and running on the 28th as stated. They've already delayed once and better not again.

Tried using Apple Pay for the first time today, tried twice in the Co-op and it didn't work - declined both times. Strangely my contactless debit card worked straight away. Any idea what might have caused this? The member of staff who served me mentioned how it didn't work for some one using a watch earlier in the week.
I have used mine a couple of times amt th Co-Op, no problems at all. Must be your local branch.

Neither places support Apple pay with Amex at the moment.

New place today - one of the mobile food vendors at Silverstone for a much needed hot chocolate on a miserable day at the Silverstone Classic. Ask to pay by card but point at the flashing lights on the reader which prompted a few questions from several of the staff, far easier again than pulling out the purse in the pouring rain..

Wonder if HSBC and First Direct customers will start getting an email today or tomorrow regarding Apple Pay and whether it will actually go live.

Hi

Thank you for the heads up.

I tried adding my card last week unaware that HSBC had delayed their participation. I was unaware also that  hold a £1.58 charge in order to confirm its the account holder actually adding the card.

I tried x4 times - Lol.

Over £6 held and returned in 3-4 days.

I'm on iOS 8.1.2 at the moment as I'm jail broken and like the stability of that jail break. I changed region in my iPhone which added the option to add my card details in Passbook.

Costa UK have confirmed they have  Pay in some of their outlets. I've checked my City Centre ones so I'm happy.

I tried to add my First Direct card last week after returning from holiday and I have had no holding charges applied, even though I made at least four attempts to add my card details before checking here on MacRumors.

Yea, they've been saying that since last week, there's screenshots a page or 2 back.

Though they also tweeted confirming they were going to be available on launch day too, but then bailed, so not holding my breath.
