Apple Pay should be interesting in MacOS Sierra, i wonder how many websites will be using this in the UK, Amazon UK would be great considering it's a site i use more often. Also am i right in thinking that it will be more secure because we wont have to enter in credit or debit card details?

Also does anyone know if Apple Pay is being accepted at HMV stores?

It will be much more secure yes, since the retailer you're buying from won't have any card details stored and you're never actually giving them your card number.

As for Amazon, it's the one retailer I use really, but I doubt they'll ever implement it since they've got their own thing going on with Amazon checkout or whatever it is.

Last time I was at HMV they still had ancient old chip and PIN machines, no contactless readers in sight!

At last my local Tesco Extra is now accepting contactless payments, but only up to the usual 30 pounds.

Does anyone know if the shops in Birmingham's Bullring accept Apple Pay? i'm planning a shopping trip in August during a week off work and it would be nice to not have to carry around cash.

I made my first Apple Pay payment while in the middle of a phone conversation on Saturday, I didn't expect that to work.

And why is that ? Apple Pay does not use the internet connection to authenticate transactions. It is an offline service.

Looking at the list of Bull Ring stores there'd be the Apple Store, Bill's, Greggs, Starbucks, Caffe Nero and Costa Coffee that are Apple Pay ready; I'm not sure about the others though.

Thank you, do you know if there is a limit (like the £30 one in most shops) in the Apple Store when using Apple Pay?

Amazon would be great, but I doubt they would want to allow Apple in on their own payment system, especially since it's working well for them now and it means they have a high customer return rate. If they wanted to implement Apple Pay we probably would have seen it already in their iOS apps.

Apple Pay in an Apple Store is only limited to your available funds/credit limit (though Lloyds Bank apparently can cap the amount you spend to protect you allegedly).

Last September I managed to pay for my Apple Watch with my iPhone 6 Plus at the Apple Store on Regent Street using my Santander MasterCard!

Fairly certain people have paid for MacBooks with Apple Pay. I bought a modern buckle strap with my watch.. Think (but I'd ring them if you're looking to leave your wallet behind and splash out) it's the limit on your credit card..

Ok, thanks for the tip, I'm not going to leave my wallet behind, i just don't want to carry large amounts of money around if I can help it. Using Apple Pay seems a good way of doing that and being secure.

There's still enough retailers who haven't upgraded their devices for it to be annoying. Sports direct and Cineworld (bearing in mind my tickets are on my watch!) are two particular recent annoyances for me... NCP recently took over a car park I use, swapped out all the ticket machines to brand new ones.... that don't take contactless but will accept card payment with no PIN authorisation (so I use cash...).

I frequently make payments above £30 using Apple Pay. Usually the retailer says it can't be done and is then surprised when I show them it can. People including the merchants assume the £30 contactless limit applies but it doesn't.

Apart from Apple I've not been to a retailer yet who accepts it for over £30.00. Places like Morrison's who have it on their self service but disable the option when you select contactless/Apple Pay (over £30.00).

Bought two Macbook Pros so don't worry about there being a limit if you're with Santander!

Don't see why not. Unless Barclays has a low max daily spending limit?

Not that i'm aware, the only thing that's in place is that if i spend a certain amount of money, the bank call me to verify the transaction, it happened when i ordered my iPad Pro.

Would be great if you could share some of these retailers as I've had the same issues. Only other than the Apple Store was Waitrose (until they suspended it at my store).
BP is still on my big wish list...

I don't know why but I assumed BP would accept Apple Pay >£30.00.

Would try myself but the one I pass on the way to work is 5p/litre dearer than the other petrol stations on the way to/from work!

Called into B&Q earlier; contactless terminals but no contactless!
