I've been told the same and I've been checking on mornings regularly and not a single store (the list shows pretty much all the stores in the UK) shows anything other than "Unavailable for pickup" so I really don't think that system is working in the current situation. But if you explain that to them they won't believe you.

I just ordered one from Amazon.
Before you all rush there... It is NOT in stock.
But I think Amazon may get it before Apple ships them at this rate. Plus I was able to use free prime delivery and a student discount so it cost me £75.
And just like Apple I can cancel or get a refund at any time.

That's exactly what I've done too. I've had an order with Apple for over a week now and Amazon for a few days. Be interesting which one comes first.
I was just reading in another thread that central London stores are also denying having had stock when they have been getting them. I don't understand how this helps the situation at all, by lying to your customers.
I'm sure that the store staff are the ones who have no clue. No reason to doubt the guy who got it.
Ah sorry I keep forgetting to say. It's Newcastle, Eldon Square. I think I'm the only person in this thread looking for one up north. But I'm assuming that if we got some up here this morning I'm sure some London stores would have got some at least... Don't quote me on that though!

Regent had stock yesterday, Covent didn't. I'd try Regent first.
There are people QUEUING outside Covent Garden right now before it opens. Maybe explains why they sell out so quick.
If everyone was here for a Keyboard they'd need 20 for me to get one.

A lot of people always queue at Covent store to get assistance at Genius Bar. Let me know if they have any :S Or buy one for me lol
Regent yesterday told me they had none in stock!
Was told by the specialist in Covent Garden they had 23 Pencils and some Keyboards. I was so excited.
Checked his iPod, none.
They were insistent that they had already been reserved online.
But I made him check other stores. Westfield showed a green tick. But not available to reserve online!!!
This is almost a conspiracy now.

I'm sorry but I've been checking online for store stock all morning pretty much every 5-10 minutes (because that's when they said it's best to check) and not a single store (all over the UK) has shown anything other than "Unavailable for pickup" so I call BS on this.
Well then what is it? All the staff knew they had 23 Pencils. The guy asked the manager. He shrugged: "well then they're all reserved then."
I mean, WTF?!
